Breed: Maltese

I was genuinely delighted to be asked to officiate at LKA as it usually has a lovely atmosphere. I warmly thank those who entered and trusted me to assess their dogs today. When I judge dogs, I am doing just; Maltese are one of the dearest breeds, fun, loving, unique in their beauty and most of all must be judged ‘hands on’. Yes, we can all appreciate how something looks from ringside but only those of us given the opportunity to go over the dogs can firmly say if coat hides faults along with clever presentation and handling. My special thanks to Kay my steward.

1st: 4272 JACUNSKIENE, Mrs Rasita Yobbo-yo Dzeusas Artemide NAF TAF – an absolute delight to start off with – he may have stood alone but thoroughly deserved his place and best puppy in breed. For 6 months old, totally composed, the most appealing head, excellent mouth, lustrous, dark oval eyes set into broad skull, good stop and balanced head, high set ears. Decent front with good chest and spring of rib for age, he held his topline well, tail is a little curled but carried over his back. He was presented beautifully, silky coat with slight lemon markings, well-muscled behind and a lovely outgoing personality. BP

1st: 4270 BALFOUR, Mrs Elaine & BALFOUR, Miss Chloe Victorious Bliss Valentinas Magic For Suncube Naf – another delight. 12 months and his first show; full of fun. For his size he feels lovely and cobby in your hands and covered in a good, silky white coat. He has a very pretty, broad head, dark eyes, pigment, very good mouth. He holds his topline well, moving with real style, reach and drive. He pushed hard in the challenge, Res CC.

2nd: 4276 LEES, Mrs Carol Lafford Zippin Along larger than 1st but by no means coarse and will always hold his own. Overall shows a lovely balanced outline with good shape, using his neck, retaining topline and good carriage. His head is of good proportion with lovely halos. Better ribbed than 3rd but lost out to the winner on front today. Coat well presented and ok in texture.

1st: 4269 BALFOUR, Mrs Elaine & BALFOUR, Miss Chloe Adonis Senayo At Suncube (Imp Pol) a beautifully presented boy of 2 years. The first thing you notice ‘hands on’ is he extremely cobby. His head is broad and balanced without being short in foreface, with a deep stop, ok mouth and dark eyes and halos. He has a full chest, is well ribbed and short backed, correct tailset and carriage and retained his topline. He was presented in excellent condition with a silky coat of good length. CC&BOB.

1st: 4271 HOLLAND, Ms. N Benatone Perfect Gold At Sarasuma he is good for size and was well presented with excellent handling. Broad in head and deep stop. He has good bodyweight, would prefer tighter elbows and coat could be silkier. Unfortunately, not moving confidently behind today.

1st: 4268 BAGGULEY, Ms A & GEORGIOU, Martha Silkwhite Dreams X-look a 14 month bitch, good mouth, dark eye and pigment, balanced and feminine in head, ears a little high set. She is broad enough in rib for size and stands with a nice outline however I would prefer better lay of shoulder. Coat is silky but fragile.

1st: 4277 OLIVER, Ms G Sarasuma Made In Wonderland 15 months with a broad, pretty head, balanced with decent pigment and dark sparkling eyes. She is cobby in body, enough neck but would like a bit more. She has a beautifully presented silky coat. She is certainly exuberant on the move but tends to lose topline at times. RCC.

Class 1659 LB (3 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: 4275 LEES, Mrs Carol Lafford Beauty Queen 3 years old, cobby and balanced in shape. She has to be handled on the table to be appreciated. She has the darkest of eyes and is well pigmented, good mouth, well set ears, rounded skull and deep enough stop. Maintains a level topline moving accurately and with drive; well ribbed. The best muscletone of all dogs today. CC

2nd: 4279 WASILEWSKA, Mrs Joanna Maltiamore Aisha Fairy Dust a very pretty, dainty girl with dark round eyes and excellent pigment, would prefer a bit more length to muzzle, deep stop. Compared to the winner she felt lacking in body and was not holding topline so well on the move. Presented in fantastic coat.
