The majority took my placings in a sporting manor to which I am very thankful for and my hard working stewards who kept things moving smoothly. Overall thoughts on the day were, the blustery conditions made some of the exhibits a little unsettled. The overall quality was better in the bitches than the dogs, this could be a worry as these are our future studs. There were a lot of short tails and the tail set seemed to be on the higher side. 1230. Shetland Sheepdog - Minor Puppy Dog Entries: 3 Absentees: 1 A nice way to start with two promising pups. 1ST 3118 - Shellamoyed Winter Blues (Mrs D J Fisher) A delightful, very promising 8 month blue Merle in nice coat for age which is text book colour and marbling. Smashing size with the correct rounded bone for his age. Lovely outline, good height to length ratio. He has a long refined blunt wedge shaped head, with parallel head planes, flattest of skulls and correct stop giving an overall balanced head. Masculine yet sweet expression created by obliquely set almond shaped eye with correct pigmentation. Nice fill of fore face, okay underjaw. Ears very well set. A muscular neck of good length leading to a very good shoulder placement, with nice layback and upper arm to match, straight front with strong and flexible pasterns. He needs to develop chest but this will come with age. Level topline with correct sweep over loin leading to good hind angulation with well let down short, strong hocks. Moved well with good drive from behind but a touch puppyish yet in front which I’m sure will settle as he matures. He should have a very promising show career. 2ND 3101 - Shellamoyed A Winters Dream (Ms S Boulter) Another promising blue Merle puppy, litter brother to first and he has many similar attributes. A size larger than his brother he is nicely balanced with a good shape.
