Championship Show - 23rd November 2025
My thanks go to the Officers and Committee of the Bichon Frisé Club of Great Britain for their kind invitation to officiate at their Championship Show. Unfortunately, quite a few absentees on the day but even so, there were some quality exhibits present and I was very happy with the principal winners in particular.
BPB (4,0)
1. Marquiss’ Quissmar Rissing Lightning. 5 mth old who got the day off to a terrific start. Showing great promise, I thought her so good for type, she presented a super outline and was good hands on. Excellent neck, firm topline, ribbing extends well back, short in the couplings and tail pleased for set and carriage. Feminine headpiece with correct skull, good proportions, flat cheeks, expressive eyes and good pigmentation throughout. I liked her angles front and rear and she stands true in front. Moves out on the go around and was very well handled. Good coat and excellent presentation.
2. Beater’s Starforth Looking At Summer. 4½ mth old who also has much to like. Balanced in outline and she has a correct length of neck which is nicely arched, topline is still to settle but nothing untoward considering her stage of development, good length to ribcage, short loin and tail good for set and carriage. Well proportioned head with feminine expression; slightly rounded skull, moderate stop, dark round eyes, ears of correct set and nice dark pigmentation. Pleasing angulation both ends and stands straight in front. Pleasing action on the go around and true when going away.
3. Pike & Carter’s Cartikes Dreamer

1. Beater’s Yngles Jago Van De Dyksteinhoeve of Starforth. 9 mth old of pleasing type and overall balance. Arched neck of good length, firm in topline, ribbing carried well back and developing as it should, breadth to loin and tail pleased for set and carriage. Head of good proportions with masculine expression; slightly rounded skull, dark round eyes with desired haloes, ears of correct set, flat cheeks, scissor bite and very good pigmentation. Pleasing angles front and rear, standing true in front but still to fully develop in forechest. When gaiting, he goes well when viewed in profile with stylish carriage, is accurate coming towards but a touch closer going away. Good coat and very well presented.

1. Mault & Coad’s Limartine Stand and Stare. 11 mth old who is full of quality and was a delight to go over. I thought him an excellent type, carries just the right amount of bone and is soundly constructed all through. Excellent neck, firm through the topline, good depth to brisket, ribbing extends well back, broad loin which is nice and short and tail just right for set and carriage. Delightful head and expression; correct skull to muzzle proportions, moderate stop, first class eyes with dark haloes, ears of correct set, clean cheeks, good underjaw and scissor bite. Good angles front and rear, stands straight in front and pleased for forechest too. On the move, he uses himself fully, is accurate coming and going and opens up well on the go around. Super coat and presentation. RCC and Best Puppy in Show. Close up in the challenge for Reserve BIS but just felt he needs a little more time.
LD (3,0)
1. Zienke’s Amore Mio Horengas. I found this a challenging class with three very different dogs present. My winner was this 3 yr old. At the top end of the standard I would estimate, but overall he was the best to go over here. Very good neck which is nicely arched, firm topline, brisket reaches the elbows, well sprung ribs with ribbing carried well back, broad loin and tail pleased for both set and carriage. Masculine head with good skull and pretty good proportions, dark round eyes but a little prominent, ears of correct set, very good pigmentation and scissor bite. Pleasing front assembly with good forechest. Rear pasterns could be more vertical but he actually moved well all through. Profusely coated.
2. Reid’s Wolimorb Cosmic Star over Dixido. 2 yr old who couldn’t be more different to the winner. Neck of good length, firm through the topline and tail correct for set and carriage, however I would like to see more development in the ribbing. I preferred the head and expression of this boy over that of 1 and he has good skull to muzzle proportions, correct stop, dark round eyes with desired haloes, ears of correct set, flat cheeks, scissor bite and lovely dark pigmentation. Pleasing angulation both ends and he stands nice and straight in front but would like to see a better forechest. Moving freely all through but winner just had the edge on the go around. Good quality coat.
3. Crawford’s Luka Songbird
OD (4,2)
1. Bromilow’s Ch Wolimorb Top Gun JW. 2 yr old right out of the top drawer who was an absolute pleasure to go over. Excelling for type, he presents such a beautifully balanced outline with arched neck of good length, firm backline, good depth to brisket, super ribbing, broad muscular loin and tail just right for both set and carriage. First class head, masculine yet no suggestion of coarseness; slightly rounded skull, moderate stop, dark expressive eyes with desired haloes, ears of correct set, clean through the cheeks, muzzle of correct length to give balance, scissor bite and lovely dark pigmentation all through. Soundly built both front and rear, standing true in front with a well developed forechest and firm hindquarters with good breadth to thighs. Outstanding on the move, carries himself with style and was so very well handled here. Quality coat and presentation. CC and Best in Show.
2. Pike & Carter’s Ch Cartike’s Midnight Madness. This 4 yr old also has plenty to like and he is solid all through. Nicely arched neck but could be touch longer to enhance outline, firm topline, good depth to chest, well sprung ribs which are carried well back, broad short loin and tail correct for both set and carriage. Balanced headpiece with correct skull, moderate stop, pleasing eye and ear, flat cheeks, correct dentition and well pigmented but winner had the edge for overall expression. Pleasing angulation front and rear, well developed in forechest and he stands well naturally in front. Moving out on the go around but could not quite match the movement and carriage of 1. Good quality coat.
VD (3,1)
1. Carr’s Ch Davyluvs D’Artagnan JW. 7 yr old who was a comfortable winner in this class for me. All male, he presented a well balanced outline with an excellent neck, firm level back, deep through the brisket, well sprung ribs with ribbing carried well back, broad muscular loin and tail correct for both set and carriage. Masculine headpiece with slightly rounded skull, dark round eyes, ears set on as they should be, flat cheeks, muzzle of correct length to balance and nice dark pigmentation. Pleasing angulation front and rear, well developed forechest, elbows close to the body and nice straight forelegs. Really moves out on the go around and also pleased on the down and back. Quality coat and presentation. Best Veteran in Show.
2. Marsden’s Winharleigh Magic of Music. 7 yr old who carries substance and pleasing bone. Nicely arched neck, firm topline, good depth to chest, muscular loin but with more length than preferred, correct croup and tail pleased for set and carriage. Well proportioned head with pleasing skull, moderate stop, eyes good for shape and placement in the skull, flat cheeks and scissor bite. He is well developed in forechest and stands on nice tight feet. Moving pretty well on the go around, nice firm rear but winner had the edge coming towards. Coat of good texture.

1. Curtis’ Elliebums The Magic Begins. 10 mth old who was pleasing hands on although she has a touch more length. Nicely arched neck of good length, firm backline, ribbing still to fully develop for which she has plenty of time and tail pleased for set and carriage. Most attractive head with good skull to muzzle proportions, expressive eyes of good colour and placement in the skull, flat cheeks, scissor bite and very well pigmented. She stands straight in front on correct feet and also pleased for forechest. On the move, she is true when coming and going and shows rear pads and went pretty well on the go around. Well handled. Best Puppy Bitch.
JB (2,1)
1. Carr’s Petit Ami Countin On A Miracle. Approaching 16 mths this youngster has lots to like and I thought her a super type and she presents a lovely balanced outline. Excellent neck, firm through the topline, good depth to brisket, well sprung ribs, muscular loin but with a touch more length and tail correct for set and carriage. Quality headpiece with most appealing expression; slightly rounded skull, moderate stop, dark round eyes with desired haloes, ears set on just above eye level, correct length of muzzle to balance and scissor bite. Pleasing angulation both ends and she stands well naturally in front and is well developed in forechest. When gaiting, she went very well on the go around and is excellent behind. Presented in first class coat.

1. Hill & Macleod’s Deizi This Girl is On Fire. 19 mth old who has lots to like and she was good to go over given her correct construction. Balanced in outline with arched neck of good length, correct topline, brisket reaches the elbows, ribcage of good length and ribbing developing well, short broad loin and tail pleased for both set and carriage. Feminine head with slightly rounded skull, eyes of good colour but a little closer together, flat cheeks, correct dentition and very good pigmentation. Good layback of shoulder, elbows close to the body, straight forelegs and firm hindquarters with breadth to thighs and good turn of stifle. Moving freely all through. Very good coat and presentation.
2. Wisniewska’s Amelia’s Angels Adele (Imp Pol). Unfortunately this 19 mth old was a little over-awed by the experience which was a shame. After some patience and very gentle handling I was able to go over her sufficiently. She has a very good neck, is nice and firm in topline, ribbing is well sprung and of good length, short loin and tail is set and carried correctly. Nicely proportioned head with feminine expression; good skull, dark round eyes, scissor bite and well pigmented all through. She stands well naturally in front and although very reluctant to move, the few strides I saw looked pretty good.

1. Walton’s Vanilla Cup Cake De Dyksteinhoeve with Keunnevek (Imp Bel). Two quite different girls challenged in this class. The win went to this 3 yr old and although she wasn’t using her tail at times she was so good hands on and presented a nicely balanced outline. Arched neck of correct length, firm topline, deep brisket, well sprung ribs, broad muscular loin, correct croup and tail good for set and carriage. She is well built both front and rear, stands nice and straight in front and is well developed in forechest. Well proportioned head with moderate stop, expressive dark eyes of good placement but with a little more staining, flat cheeks and correct dentition. Nice free action all through. Good coat.
2. Pike & Carter’s Cartike’s After Midnight JW. Coming up to 3 yrs, this girl is nice and substantial but wasn’t quite as good in overall outline as winner and I would have a liked a shade more length of neck. She is firm in topline, brisket reaches the elbows, ribbing extends well back and is well sprung, there is breadth to her short loin and tail pleased for set and carriage. Feminine headpiece with correct skull, very good proportions, moderate stop, dark expressive eyes with haloes and scissor bite. I also liked the angles on this girl and she has straight forelegs, nice tight feet and pleased in forechest too. Gaiting soundly.
OB (5,0)
1. Coad’s Ch Pamplona Nina Simone. This was a lovely class to cast my eye over with five champions present. This 2 yr old came out on top, excelling for balance and overall outline and she was a delight hands on. She has an excellent neck which is well arched, firm through the topline, first class ribbing, short well-muscled loin and tail is just right for set and carriage. Feminine head with correct skull to muzzle proportions, moderate stop, eyes of good colour with desired haloes, flat cheeks, correct dentition and she is well pigmented all through. Very good front assembly with excellent return of upper arm, elbows close to the body, straight forelegs and well developed in forechest. When gaiting, she excelled on the go around, carries herself with style and she cannot be overlooked. Excellent coat and presentation. CC and Reserve Best in Show.
2. Marquiss’ Ch Pinefield Dressed for Success at Quissmar (Imp Aus). This 3 yr old is another who very much appealed although quite different to the winner and at the lower end of the standard size-wise. She too was so good hands on, very well constructed and presenting a lovely outline with the best of necks, firm in backline, good depth to brisket, excellent ribbing, short in the couplings and tail pleased for both set and carriage. Most attractive head and expression, full of femininity and correctly proportioned with perfect eye placement and length of muzzle. Correctly angulated both ends, standing true in front on excellent feet, well developed in forechest and firm hindquarters with good breadth to thighs. Moving freely with good carriage. RCC.
3. Anderson’s Ch Brokengate Mam’selle

1. Gallagher’s Rusmar Dezigner Kisses with Junanger. 8 yr old who presented a pleasing outline with arched neck of correct length to balance, firm in topline, ribbing carried well back, nice short loin and tail good for set and carriage. Feminine headpiece with good skull, moderate stop, dark round eyes but a touch prominent, ears of correct set, lean through the cheeks and nice dark pigmentation. Pleasing angles front and rear, elbows close to the body and she stands true in front on nice tight feet. Moving freely on the go around and well handled here. Good texture to coat. Best Veteran Bitch.
