1. Bevis, Corr & Venezia’s Stylesign Gunshot at Stecal (Imp). 7 mth old Akita dog right out of the top drawer and shown to advantage here. Carrying such good bone, he presented a superb outline with muscular, crested neck, excellent topline, such good rib for this stage in his development, firm loin and tail set on high and of good carriage. Quality headpiece with broad, flat skull, defined stop, the very best of eyes and ears, well developed cheeks, strength to muzzle and scissor bite. Good angles front and rear and stands true in front on excellent feet. Excellent profile action and carriage with power through the hindquarters. Offstanding coat of good texture. I was thrilled to see him go on to take Best Puppy in Show and how exciting for this kennel to also win Best in Show with their adult male.

2. Lowton-Humphries’ Lumillion Crazy In Love. 10 mth old pepper/salt Miniature Schnauzer dog who I judged back in June and I have to say he put on a much more accomplished performance today. Sturdily built, he presented a super outline with slightly arched neck of correct length to balance, firm straight backline which slopes slightly to the rear as desired, excellent rib development, muscular loin and tail good for both set and carriage. Quality head with keen expression; moderate breadth of skull between his correctly placed ears, medium stop, dark oval-shaped eyes, strength to muzzle, scissor bite and excellent furnishings. Soundly constructed all through and standing foot perfect at all times. Pleasing action when viewed from all angles. First class coat and presentation.

3. Dunhill-Hall’s Vormund Coachella. Japanese Shiba Inu bitch of 8 mths. Well balanced youngster who was so good to go over given her correct construction. Slightly arched neck of moderate length, firm in topline, pleasing rib development with ribbing carried well back, short in the couplings and curled tail set on high. Super head with intensity of expression; flat skull of good breadth, correct stop, obliquely set almond-shaped eyes, the very best of ears, tapering muzzle and scissor bite. She has correct angulation front and rear and stands straight in front with tight, cat-like feet. Characteristic light, energetic gait and nice and true fore and aft.

4. Timms’ Olijah Going In Deep. 9 mth old dark brindle French Bulldog dog. Quality pup who very much appeals. Solid, carrying excellent bone and all male. Well arched, muscular neck, characteristic roach to topline, super ribbing, strong well-muscled loin and tail set on low. Most impressive head and expression with first class skull, dark round eyes, excellent ears for size and set, broad muzzle, wide open nostrils, well developed cheeks and good upturn to underjaw. Soundly constructed all through, he stands so well in front on excellent feet and has breadth to forechest. Gaiting freely with drive from the rear and uses himself as he goes.

I also shortlisted the Lhasa Apso, Revillas Rodriguez’s Khumbila Centre Stage, the Shar Pei, Grimshaw’s Sharpuggles Blow Me Down, and the Tibetan Terrier, Green’s Silgarhi Catch The Wind to Verony.
