Excellent neck, firm through the topline, good length to ribcage, slight slope to croup and tail of good carriage. This 14 mth old also presented a well balanced, smooth outline with good length of neck which is slightly arched, level back, ribbing developing well and carried well back, muscular loin and tail set on low. Nicely proportioned head with fairly broad skull, expressive eyes, ears set on well apart, distinct stop and scissor bite. Feet not quite as good as those of winner. On the move, he pleased on the go around but 1 had the edge when coming towards. Well handled.

YD (3,0)

1. Carley & Fawcett’s Laceway Bite The Bullet with Jupavia JW. 22 mth old who was presented in super coat and condition and expertly handled. Well proportioned head with masculine expression; fairly broad skull, distinct stop, correct ears and eyes of good colour but not quite shape of those of 1. Neck of good length, pretty good topline, ribbing developing well for age, correct croup and tail set on low and of pleasing carriage. Good skull to muzzle proportions but would like to see a touch more breadth to skull and definition to stop, eyes of good colour and correct scissor bite. Pleasing profile action and true when going away.

2. Tandy’s Borderbrook Stolen Affair. This 2 yr old pleased for overall type. Good length of neck, firm in topline, ribbing extends well back and muscular loin but tail is set higher than preferred and this reflects on the move with rather high carriage. Balanced headpiece with fairly broad skull, distinct stop, very good eye and ear and correct dentition. Standing on correct oval-shaped feet but could open up more on the go around.

GD (2,0)

1. Porter’s Nashdom Idol. 2 yr old of pleasing size and outline. Slightly arched neck of good length, firm topline, good depth of chest, well sprung ribs which are carried well back, muscular loin and more correct in croup than 2 but again tail carriage could be better. Nicely proportioned head with pleasing skull, distinct stop, dark oval-shaped eyes, erect ears set on well apart and correct scissor bite. Pleasing angulation but could stand tidier in front. Scored in this class for overall action.

2. Tandy’s Borderbrook Stolen Affair

LD (6,1)

1. Lee & Green’s Fayken I Am Soul JW. 2 yr old who immediately caught my eye in this class and he didn’t disappoint hands on. Slightly arched neck of correct length to balance, firm level topline, good depth to chest, excellent ribbing and loin, slight slope to croup and tail set on low and of correct carriage. Pleasing head and expression with fairly broad skull, oval-shaped eyes of good colour, ears set on well apart and scissor bite. Well laid shoulders, elbows close to the body, straight forelegs and stands on good feet. Moving freely on the down and back and so good on the go around with correct carriage. Very well handled.

2. Castle’s Jupavia Divine Dream. This 3 yr old was another who was handled to advantage. He presented a smooth, balanced outline with a super neck, level topline, well sprung ribs which are carried well back, muscular loin, correct croup and tail set on low. Well proportioned head with excellent eye and ear, distinct stop and correct dentition. Well constructed all through and stands straight in front on very good feet. 3. Longhurst’s Simmovon Charm Writer at Spotarton JW

OD (8,1)

1. Green & Ratcliffe’s Sh Ch Fayken Truth or Dare with Arrodare JW. What a super class this was, full of quality and an absolute pleasure to judge. This 6 yr came out on top and what a terrific lad he is. I thought him an excellent type, so very well balanced and a delight to go over with each part flowing smoothly into the next. Slightly arched neck of good length, firm through the topline, first class ribbing, muscular loin, correct croup and tail just right for length, set and carriage. Quality headpiece with masculine expression; fairly broad skull, excellent eye and ear, well defined stop, muzzle proportionate in length to that of skull and correct scissor bite. Soundly constructed all through, standing true in front on excellent feet, good in forechest and firm, well-muscled hindquarters with well let down hocks. When gaiting, he was accurate on the down and back and was quite outstanding on the go around with perfect breed carriage. CC & BOB and delighted to see he later went on to win the Group.

2. Akester & Wiltshire’s Sh Ch Thwaitlake Buzzman. 4 yr old who I have done well for before at Group level and what a super example of the breed he is and presented in first class coat and condition plus handled to perfection as always. All male, carrying strong bone, with a muscular neck of good length, correct in topline, well sprung ribs which are carried well back, firm loin which has breadth, graceful slope to croup and tail set on low and of correct carriage. Masculine head which is well proportioned, distinct stop, ears set on well apart, the very best of eyes, good underjaw and scissor bite. Shoulders well laid, elbows close to the chest, straight forelegs and stands on such good feet. This boy is another who was an absolute pleasure to watch on the move, gaiting freely and with characteristic breed carriage. RCC.

3. Lee & Ratcliffe’s Sh Ch Arrodare True Legend

VD (5,1)

1. Smith & Ratcliffe’s Sh Ch Arrodare It's Now or Never JW. Coming up to 12 yrs, this boy excelled for type and balance and was so good hands on. He presented a smooth, graceful outline yet there is no mistaking that he is male. Muscular neck of good length which is slightly arched, flowing smoothly into well laid shoulders, firm level topline, brisket reaching the elbows, excellent ribbing, well-muscled loin, correct croup and tail set on low. Masculine head with good skull to muzzle proportions, ears set on well apart, eyes of good colour and well rounded muzzle. With strength of bone, he has good angles front and rear and stands true in front on correct oval-shaped feet. Greatly impressed on the go around with free, seemingly tireless gait and correct carriage of both head and tail. Just beginning to show signs of age in the rear but still worthy of consideration for the RCC here today.

2. Brierley’s Goytre First Edition P-Beg Ex VW. Approaching 11 yrs this boy did all that was asked of him and was good to go over. Neck of good length, firm level back, well sprung ribs which extend well back, muscular loin and tail set on low but not quite smooth flow of outline as that of winner. Nicely proportioned head with fairly broad skull, ears of correct set, dark expressive eyes which are placed wide apart, defined stop and good dentition. Pleasing angulation front and rear and stands nice and straight in front on correct feet. Gaiting well on the go around with pleasing carriage and true when coming towards. Very well handled.

Masculine head with approximately equal skull to muzzle lengths, distinct stop, correct eyes for both shape and colour and ears set on well but lips somewhat looser. Pleasing angulation front and rear, stands on correct feet and moves out well when viewed in profile and was pretty good when coming towards. Well handled.

3. Tandy, Turns & Dömötöri’s Borderheart Havana Nights

GCD (1,0)

1. Dalby’s Hidden Bo Fedele Amico for Axernamoon (Imp Rus) JW. 3 yr old who was very well handled here. 1. Mercer’s Kirkwind Secret Soul. Feminine youngster approaching 9 mths who pleased in outline with correct length of neck to balance, firm topline, ribbing extends well back and developing as it should, good croup and tail set on low. Head of good proportions but would like to see a little more breadth of skull, expressive oval-shaped eyes and scissor bite. Standing on good feet. On the move, she went pretty well on the go around and is nice and true when going away.

PB (3,0)

1. Dalby’s Taytinja Speed of Light over Axernamoon. This 10 mth old is only a baby and needs time to fill out but she presented a nicely balanced outline and scored here on the go around. She has an excellent neck, firm level back, good length to ribcage but still to fully develop, correct croup and tail set on low and of pleasing carriage. Good skull to muzzle proportions but head skull to broaden, dark expressive eyes, ears set on well and scissor bite. Pleasing angulation both front and rear and she stands nice and straight in front on excellent feet. Moving freely all through and with good carriage. Best Puppy Bitch.

2. Smit-Siraal, Smit & Wiltshire’s From Borders Home Love Bears All Things. Approaching 10 mths, this youngster is out of a larger mould than the winner but retains femininity. Neck of good length which is slightly arched, topline to firm a tad, pleasing rib development for age, pretty good croup and tail correct for both set and carriage, however winner just had the edge in overall flow of outline. Feminine head and expression with excellent skull, defined stop, dark oval-shaped eyes, good ears, muzzle proportionate in length to that of skull and correct dentition. Good angles front and rear and stands true in front on correct feet. Attentive show girl who moved out nicely on the go around although winner just went that bit better.

3. Mercer’s Kirkwind Secret Soul

JB (4,1)

1. Murfet & Oliver’s Tambuzi Guess Who's Back. Moderate 13 mth old who is at the teenager stage right now but she has lots to like and was well handled here. She appealed for overall outline with slightly arched neck of correct length to balance, firm level topline, ribcage of good length with pleasing rib development, correct croup and tail set on just right. Attractive head which is well proportioned, fairly broad skull, expressive eyes, ears set on well and correct dentition. Soundly built front and rear and she has nice straight forelegs and stands on good feet. Moves out so well when viewed in profile and has correct self carriage. Good quality coat.

2. Spencer’s Tobermoray All About Freya. Showy 16 mth old who is somewhat heavier built all through than the winner and a little longer cast. I liked her length of neck, she is firm in topline, good depth to chest, there is breadth to loin but with a touch more length and when hands on her croup and tail set are correct but at first glance I thought this not to be the case as she is rather heavily coated over the croup. Quality head with very nice expression; good skull to muzzle proportions, best of eyes, ears set on well apart, distinct stop and good underjaw. Stands well in front on correct feet and gaiting well on the go around with good carriage.

3. Spurr’s Dreamwork Notorious

YB (4,0)

1. Green, Ratcliffe & Green’s Borderpride Laced in Truth by Fayken. 18 mth old who ticked all the boxes for me and was so good hands on. Feminine throughout, she is beautifully balanced with muscular neck of good length which flows into well laid shoulders, firm in topline, brisket reaches the elbows, ribbing carried well back, well-muscled loin with breadth and graceful curve through the croup to low set on of tail. Superb head and expression, full of femininity, breadth to skull, pronounced stop, oval-shaped eyes of good colour and placement, ears set well apart, muzzle of correct length to balance and correct dentition. Well laid shoulders, elbows close to the body, straight forelegs with good bone and stands on such good feet. When gaiting, her action is free and smooth with correct head carriage and minimal lift of feet and she was handled to perfection. My choice for the CC today and surprised to hear that she already has her crown, although this was her 3rd big green card.

2. Fawcett’s Laceway Breaking Waves. This 22 mth old is another good one and a pleasure to go over. She has a little more length than the winner but is no way unbalanced; neck of good length, firm level backline, well sprung ribs, good depth to brisket, muscular loin, correct croup and tail pleased for length, set and carriage. Feminine head with fairly broad skull between her correctly set ears, eyes correct for shape, distinct stop, muzzle proportionate in length to that of skull and scissor bite but for me, winner had the edge in overall expression. Nice layback of shoulders, standing straight in front on good feet and firm, well-muscled hindquarters with well turned stifles. Gaiting accurately on the down and back and also impressed on the go around.

Moving freely throughout with good carriage and particularly impressed when coming towards.

Neck of good length with slight arch, firm through the topline, pleasing ribbing, muscular loin, slight slope to croup and tail set on low. Feminine headpiece with fairly equal skull to muzzle proportions, not quite skull of winner, nice dark eyes, erect ears set on well apart and correct scissor bite but overall preferred expression of 1. She stands well naturally in front and has good feet but could have been cleaner coming towards, however she is nice and firm in rear and also pleased when viewed in profile.

3. Berry’s Sianworth Rustic Love

Quality head with the best of expressions; well proportioned, fairly broad skull, correct stop, excellent eye and ear and scissor bite. Super neck, level topline, brisket reaches the elbows, well sprung ribs, firm loin, graceful slope to croup and tail pleased for both set and carriage.
