My thanks to the Birmingham National committee for their invitation to award my first set of CCs at their show. The National has seen a number of firsts for me being the first Championship show I attended and where I won my first CC with a dog, which made the appointment even more meaningful. A special thanks to my stewards Mark and Carol who made sure the ring ran smoothly.
Overall I felt there was more depth of quality in the bitches and I’m certain that many of them will swap places as they move through the classes. I have to admit that I took a moment to admire my bitch line up before making the decision and only wished I had more than one CC to hand out.
Class 2796 SBD (5 Entries) Abs: 1
1st: 6775 MOORCROFT, Mrs Julie Amorevita Uranus JW
Impressive masculine black, who excels on the move, liked his correctly proportioned head, reachy neck and his correct depth and spring of rib. He is short coupled, moved well in all directions, but particularly impressed in side movement. Pushed the main winners hard today.
2nd: 6754 GILL, Miss Nicola & TOBUTT, Mr Andrew Wallensis
Look What I Found For Geomondo, This PS was giving a lot away on age against the winner, correct head proportions, but preferred the expression and movement of 1, developing in body, has a lovely spring of rib which he carries down to his elbow and back in to a short loin. Moved around the ring with a balanced action, presented in harsh banded jacket and well handled.
Class 2797 MPD (4 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 6753 FONES, Mrs/Mr S A & J P Nikisan It's Bean A While At Riveltofs
A confident minor puppy dog who had the robustness and style I was looking for, everything in the right place for his age, excellent head proportions, neat correctly set ears, has good fill in front and good length to his rib cage, short coupled, balanced angles which showed on the move with his positive action.
2nd: 6769 LOWTON-HUMPHRIES, Mr Stephen & LOWTON-HUMPHRIES, M Lumillion Crazy In Love
A typey youngster who presents the cleanest of outlines, typical in head and eye, with a clean neck, sweeping into well laid shoulders, carries his ribs well back into a short loin and a correctly set and carried tail. Played up for his handler on the move today, but his sheer type and style earned him his place. An exciting prospect!
Class 2798 PD (4 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 6799 WOODS, Misses R & L Penbro Carbon Copy
I found myself instantly drawn to this PS due to his striking, balanced outline. He has the desired head proportions with good strength to his muzzle which was lacking in so many today, neat ears and the darkest of eyes, giving that typical Schnauzer expression. He has a slightly arched neck, which flows into a correctly laid shoulder, good width and depth of rib for his age, I liked his length of leg and quality bone, he is short coupled, has a correctly set tail, balanced angles front and rear, the more he moved the better he got, demonstrating good reach in front and a drive action from behind. A masterclass in handling. He pushed the Open winner hard in the challenge and when it mattered he pulled himself into a shape that meant I could not deny him the CC and later BPIB.
2nd: 6778 PARKER, Miss L V & SAUNDERS, Miss T & MCDONALD, Mr Risepark First Stage
From a very different mould being finer all through, correct dark eye, but felt a stronger head would enhance overall expression, he presents a very typical outline in profile being almost square and has the correct length of leg required by the breed, presented in a harsh jacket, but couldn’t match 1 for side gait but still moved soundly in all directions.
Class 2799 JD (2 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 6790 WHITE, Miss Debbie J Funflash Rebel Rebel At Schnaustar
A very attractive BS, he has the neatest ears, liked his head planes and proportions enhanced further by his dark oval eye, moderate neck into well laid shoulders, another one who is short coupled, immaculately presented, with a harsh wire jacket and appreciated his correct BS markings on his legs! He makes a lovely balanced outline when standing, moved out well but would have liked to see him move out more positively in the challenge.
2nd: 6782 PODLASIAK, Ms Kasia & RICHARDSON, Mr Jamie Ivan Hollybeat (Imp Pol)
Black Dog built on bigger lines, he is robust with plenty of bone and square in outline, liked his dark expressive eye, moved okay, but preferred the overall balance of the winner.
Class 2800 PGD (1 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 6758 GUDGIN, Mrs Lisa Jane & CAMPBELL, Mrs Elaine Arkangath Hellcat With Jennayr; Although this 3 year old PS stood alone he has so many breed qualities and deserved his placing. He presents a smart outline, good head planes and expression, has dark correctly shaped eyes, Moderate neck into correct placed shoulders, ribs were carried well back, like the moderation of his rear angles, harsh well prepared jacket, moves with good reach and drive, handled to advantage.
Class 2801 LD (9 Entries) Abs: 4
1st: 6775 MOORCROFT, Mrs Julie Amorevita Uranus JW - See Class 2796
2nd: 6798 WOODS, Misses R & L Penbro Walking On Sunshine; On first examination I thought this smart PS dog would be the one to beat, he has such a typical outline and a classic head, with neat V shaped ears, strength to his muzzle and a dark mischievous eye. At 16 months he is developed well in rib and I liked his short coupling and strength to loin, on the move he holds his topline, textbook tail set and carriage, presented in an correctly textured banded jacket, unlucky to meet 1 today who was on top form.
Class 2802 OD (3 Entries) Abs: 1
1st: 6735 BELL, Miss W J & BURNS, Mrs Laura Ch Glockens Let It Be JW;
Mature PS that really fills the eye, he presents a very balanced outline, he is well bodied with an excellent spring of rib, and enough forechest. His head is a touch too lean for me, but is framed by neat ears and has a dark eye. Moved out well, holding his gently sloping topline on the move, today he lost out to the MPD when it came to rear drive. Presented and handled to perfection. RCC
2nd: 6747 DAWSON, Miss J Gryselda Step In Time JW;
Rising 2 year old who on first glance is more my ideal type, he is compact and robust. Hands on he is well off for bone and well muscled, has a typical head and good strength to muzzle, ribs are well sprung, but when standing I preferred the overall balanced and rear angulation of 1.
Class 2803 VD (1 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 6792 WILLIAMS, Mrs A Saraswati Bonno Blue With Lyzahro Imp Mkd;
This 10 year old white belies his age, moved around the with an easy action at one with his handler. A real credit to his owner who told me on the day that it was his last show.
Class 2804 SBB (4 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 6788 THOMPSON, Miss Beverly & HUTCHINSON, Mr Tim Arkangath Cardhu;
There is no denying that this bitch is compact and cobby, has the prettiest of heads, enough neck, balanced front and rear angles correspond with each other meaning she moves out with some reach and drive.
2nd: 6736 BUTLER, Mrs Debbie & BUTLER, Mr Dale Brown Sugar Lady For Devorasjoy
A moderate type who is bigger all through than 1. She has a head of good length with neat ears, could perhaps be darker smaller eye, has good ribbing and bone, firm topline and strong rear, moved okay in all directions and was well handled
Class 2805 MPB (7 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 6757 GRAHAM, Mrs Sandra Nikisan Chill Your Beans
Like her litter brother she is a great combination of style and substance without a hint of coarseness, feminine head, reachy neck and well bodied for her age, moved vigorously around the ring, surely destined for great things.
2nd: 6770 LOWTON-HUMPHRIES, Mr Stephen & LOWTON-HUMPHRIES, M Lumillion Must Be Love; Attractive PS bitch, who presents an attractive outline, feminine head, dark eye, okay coat texture and tail set bang on. Like the MPD from this kennel I loved her flow from neck into shoulder and gently sloping topline.
Class 2806 PB (6 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 6763 HOUCHIN, Miss H O & HOUCHIN, Mr Mark & HOUCHIN, Mr Zakmayo One Sip At A Time With Barnsdale, 2nd: 6786 SANDERS, Miss Kirsty & SANDERS, Mrs Vivien Zakmayo Spill The Tea;
Not much to separate these litter sisters, but preferred the overall shape and compactness of One Sip, they are both beautifully made, wonderful head planes, dark correct shaped eyes, clean neck and shoulders, well bodied for their age, with excellent coat texture and good tail set. Both presented and handled to advantage, moving out with great reach and drive. Two very nice puppies!
Class 2807 JB (6 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 6762 HOOD, Mrs J Jastalla Swingtime;
Super smart PS, feminine head and expression, enhanced by her small correctly set v shaped ears and dark oval eye. Excellent length of neck, flowing into well laid shoulders. Correct length and return of upper arm with a well develop chest., good bone, short loin, compact and cobby, moved with reach and drive and excellent width in the rear when going away which was lacking in many today. RCC
2nd: 6750 DESCERE, Mrs E Amorevita Spice It Up;
This 12 month old PS is so well made, she has a good head but preferred the ear size and set of 1. Clean neck and shoulders, visible breastbone, with plenty of fill in front, developing in rib, she is short coupled and moved well in all directions.
Class 2808 PGB (6 Entries) Abs: 3
1st: 6771 MCDONALD, Mr J Risepark First Lady Of Heibri, A moderate bitch, who presents a typical outline, dark eye, moderate neck and well bodied, moves well in profile but is a little untidy coming towards me.
2nd: 6736 BUTLER, Mrs Debbie & BUTLER, Mr Dale Brown Sugar Lady For Devorasjoy - See 2nd in class 2804
Class 2809 LB (9 Entries) Abs: 4
1st: 6761 HOOD, Mrs J Jastalla Bizness Class;
Another bitch from this clever breeder who took my eye as she walked into the ring. She is feminine, but has substance, good bone and is well ribbed. Her moderately long arched neck leads into clean well laid shoulders, balanced throughout with a correctly angulated rear. In class competition I thought she would be the one to beat, but didn’t move as cleanly in the challenge.
2nd: 6748 DESCERE, Mrs E Amorevita Zaria; Another from this Kennel that I admired today, feminine head of good proportion, good neck and shoulder, deep ribs carried well back into a short loin, positive on the move with good reach and drive, however I would like her to move away a little more cleanly, presented in the harshest of jackets.
Class 2810 OB (6 Entries) Abs: 2
A class of 4 quality bitches, who on a different day could have changed places
1st: 6783 REEVE, Mrs A Deneens Fig Tart;
This 3 year old bitch ticked all the boxes for me and would have gladly taken her home, Sturdily built, nearly square, is balanced fore and aft, has enough forechest. A keen expression, with a dark oval eye, neat ears. Shows herself to advantage, free standing on the end of her handlers lead, where she arches her moderately long neck. On the move her action was free and vigorous and oh so sound on the down and back. Presented in a crisp pin wire jacket. Delighted to award her CC and BOB
2nd: 6787 THOMAS, Mr Jim & THOMAS, Mrs Jean Ch Kassava Star Attraction;
Another smart PS who doesn’t stray far from my ideal, whilst out a slightly bigger mould, she is so typical, loved her feminine head of equal proportions and correct head planes, on the table she is so lovely to go over, with smooth correctly laid shoulders and big ribs. She is perhaps a little longer in second thigh than my ideal, but there is no denying her quality, handled by one of the best, who really got the most out of her on the move.
Class 2811 VB (2 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 6733 BARTON, Miss J R Acredam Humbug By Beanara
A moderate 7 year old bitch, thought that she was robust and typey, had one of the best texture jackets of the day, moved well in all directions.
2nd: 6767 KRIEGER, Mrs Elisabeth Tracey Schnaustar Black Pearl.
Feminine Black bitch, finer built that 1, she is square in outline and moved around the ring like a junior
