Southern Counties Canine Association 1st June 2025 Golden Retriever Dogs.

Many thanks to the committee for this appointment, my thanks also to my two stewards Mitzi Morrison & Jane Pearson for keeping the ring moving. All dogs today were presented clean and in good condition no overweight boys and no bad mouths, tail sets were overall good and not too many carried high, my only comment is that a number of the dogs are losing the correct feet type, too many hare type rather than round cat like and a few well down in pastern, something to watch in the breed as feet are important to the overall ability of the dog.

1st Sh Ch Monchique Imperial Beau at Emmabe JW Ir Jun Ch (Miss E Copley) a 7-year-old boy in excellent condition balanced throughout, correct in head, forequarters straight with good bone, lovely catlike feet, good depth to chest and depth through the heart, level topline strong in loin, strong well-muscled rear quarters moved with powerful drive.

2nd Forbendale Ice Bear (Mr J & Mrs J White) 10-year-old boy good in head and neck, correct shoulders, straight in front with legs well under body, balanced in body and deep in ribs, level topline with correct tailset, rear quarters in good condition, not quite the drive of 1.

1st Louellabrook Atlantic Star with Sansue (Mrs S & Mrs H Birkin-Green & Gripton) Pale boy well up for age, head coming along nicely, good neck into well placed shoulders, straight front and lovely feet, good overall in body for age, rear quarters good, moved steady carrying tail level with back.

2nd Goldmarker Alderbaran (Mr T B & Mrs L G Smith) balanced mid gold boy, lighter in bone than 1, front straight and with correct feet, good depth to chest, level in topline held on the move, just not the presence of 1.

1st Mossburn Galloping Major JW (Mrs S H Pounds-Longhurst) Mid gold boy who I have did well as a youngster, he has developed well into a lovely balanced dog, excellent in head with lovely dark pigment, good length of neck which was strong and clean, forequarters straight and well boned presented well with correct feet, shoulders well laid back with good depth of well sprung rib, elbows closely fitting, topline level and strong in loin, rear very well-muscled allowing powerful drive out and back, this boy was fit for function. 2nd Lamancha Time Traveller JW (Miss M McDonald) Litter brother to Graduate dog winner, very similar in type and overall construction to sibling, presented in beautiful condition as always from this kennel, he was unfortunate to come up against class winner, moved with drive and long in stride, with true movement front and rear.
