Boston Ch show 2025 Sealyham Terrier

Many thanks to the exhibitors for accepting me as your replacement judge, I was asked on the morning of the show if I would take over the entry. Very enjoyable it was too.

MPD (1)

1. Crang’s Whooperhill Sand Castle. Smart youngster with a stamp of quality about him, with good substance and bone and the desired oblong body shape giving him a pleasing profile. Masculine head with good width between his well placed ears, dark eyes with a keen expression and a good bite. Decent forehand with a lovely reach of neck, which is also strong and muscular, leading to well laid shoulders and well sprung ribs. Very good hindquarters and well set strong tail all topped off with a well presented coat of good texture. Carried himself well on the go around with sound brisk movement. Pleased to award him BPD, BPIB and RBD.

JD (1)

1. Pawson Mantle, Mantle, & Inman Lee’s Afterglow's Golden Ticket (Imp USA). This youngster was full of attitude and terrier keenness, with a pleasing outline. Liked his head being masculine with strength, good width between the ears, eye colour OK, pigmentation was good as was his bite. Ample neck which is strong and muscular, leading to well laid shoulders, good width and breadth of chest and standing on short straight strong legs. Good topline and muscular loin, nicely angulated rear with a well set on tail, just needing to develop his spring of rib. Well presented jacket with plenty of texture. Brisk and active on the move if a little distracted at times.

PGD (4)

1. Khrenov’s Lord of The Rings of Taita's Ushabti at Gelodnea. This dog stood out for me in the male entry today. Much to admire here particularly his oblong outline with the desired bone and substance. Masculine well balanced head, good breadth between his well placed ears, dark eyes with a keen expression and very good dentition. Strong muscular neck, good ribs and breadth and depth of chest, firm topline, well muscled quarters with plenty behind his strong tail. Shown in first class order and handled to advantage, he scored well on the move with a brisk and active action. Happy to award him BD and BOB.

2. Pawson Mantle, Mantle, & Inman Lee’s Afterglow's Golden Ticket (Imp USA) – see previous notes

3. Pawson & Mantle’s Gelodnea Dylan at Ventasilures

LD (1)

1. Crang’s Lushell Gwyn Cariad. Well grown mature lad with pleasing proportions and overall balance. Strong masculine head of good length and width between his well set ears, dark eyes and big strong teeth with good scissor bite. Ample neck leading to well laid shoulders, good ribbing and breadth and depth of brisket, firm topline and well angulated hindquarters with good tail set on. His coat was of good texture, just needs a bit more attention to his coat preparation to show him off to best advantage. Moved soundly but could have had a little more drive from behind.

SBGD (1)

1. Pawson Mantle, Mantle, & Inman Lee’s Afterglow's Golden Ticket (Imp USA) . Best Special Beginners.- see previous notes

GCD (2)

1. Pawson & Mantle’s Gelodnea Dylan at Ventasilures. Good for size and overall shape. Appealing head which has decent length and width between his well placed ears, dark eyes with keen expression, and he has strength of jaw with good dentition. Neck of good length, firm level back, and short loin with a well set tail, would like to see a little more spring of rib and more breadth all through. Well presented jacket with plenty of texture. On the go around, moved out with a brisk action.

2. Howle’s Dinglebrooke I Can. Pleasing overall outline to this mature boy, just a shade longer than the winner. Liked his head, masculine with strength and good width between his ears, keen and alert dark eyes. Strong clean neck, deep in brisket and nicely developed in fore chest. Holding a decent topline both stood and on the move with a good tail carriage. Could carry a touch more body to advantage. Presented with a good coat texture and on the go around had a brisk gait with drive from behind.

OB (2,1abs)

1. Smith’s Grevenia Higwen Amber Queen. Good quality girl with a pleasing outline of the desired oblong shape. Feminine yet strong well-proportioned head with slightly domed skull and good width between her well set ears, dark eyes with a keen expression. Strong muscular neck leading to well laid shoulders, very well made body, with good depth and well sprung ribs and firm topline. Nicely angulated front and back with muscular hindquarters and strong well set tail. Well presented jacket with plenty of texture. On the go around, she moved actively with plenty of drive from behind whilst retailing her outline and tail carriage. Pushed hard in the challenge, just slightly preferred the ribbing and slightly shorter loin of the male. Happy to award her BB and BOS.
