This was my third time awarding CCs in our beautiful breed and was certainly a special one. We were blessed with the weather today and the atmosphere, from what I felt, was very good. This being my third time and in comparison to other appointments over the years, we have changed in various ways. In terms of presentation I was quite pleased with how many of the dogs entered came in clean and groomed. I think as a whole we are in a better position with quality of dogs, we are a small numbered breed, but this does not mean we can’t breed top quality dogs. We need to future proof ourselves. We have more people new to showing coming through now and we have some incredibly knowledgeable people in the breed. We need to understand these are the people who have tried and tested so many different things, from grooming, exhibiting and all the way to breeding and whelping, these people have seen so many ups and downs in Elkhounds. We can all seek their advice. 786. Norwegian Elkhound - Veteran Entries: 2 Absentees: 0 1ST 2375 - Ch Seasara Earl Grey (Mr N J & Mrs K E Simms) A dog I have admired in the past and this time excelled. He is a well balanced compact dog, masculine head with dark eye and a good expression. Strong neck, great bone, neat feet, good ribs and loin. Moved superbly and shown in great condition. Credit to owners. BV. 2ND 2370 - Ch/ned Ch Bowerhinton Brouhaha (Mrs T Maun) Another male who for his age is in great condition. Coat wasn’t the best I have seen him in, in both texture and colour. Very good in profile, away could be neater. He has a strong body on him, with super head. Handled fantastically. 787. Norwegian Elkhound - Puppy Dog Entries: 1 Absentees: 0 1ST 2376 - Kamgaard Kyffin for Brawdor (Mr M & Mrs L Stephenson) A promising puppy who does have a lot to like, and I am sure it will come. Once he settled with his handler he created a typical picture. Coat soft and open but hopefully will change through maturity. A correct wedged head. Slightly bigger than I would like, but he is balanced. Movement all round was good. 788. Norwegian Elkhound - Junior Dog Entries: 0 Absentees: 0 789. Norwegian Elkhound - Post Graduate Dog Entries: 2 Absentees: 1 1ST 2364 - Barbelka Devilishly Divine (ai) (Mrs He & Mr Np Benner) A nicely matured male who overall has nice proportions and creates a good outline. He was balanced and compact. Typical expression on a correct head. Shoulders were well laid. Moved with ease, once settled into front was good, rear slightly close. 790. Norwegian Elkhound - Open Dog Entries: 3 Absentees: 0 1ST 2374 – Ch Aftonlee Aros at Elverdal (Mr N J & Mrs K E Simms) Loved this quality male, judged before but he has come on so much. He has lovely proportions and creates such an outline. Great for body and bone, super head, neat ears. Super condition, sound mover and alert with his handler. DCC & BOB. 2ND 2367 - Ch Graythor Augustus at Rothenborg (Mrs J E Cowper) Another male who I have admired and didn’t disappoint. He is well balanced shown in great condition. Strong masculine head, would like a darker eye. Well set ears. Shown in excellent coat, colour could be better. He moved very well in profile, could be stronger to and from. Norwegian Elkhound - Puppy Bitch Entries: 5 Absentees: 0 1ST 2372 - Kamgaard Kariad (Ms S & Ms M Simmonds & Mott) WOW. This bitch just blew me away from the second she walked in. She is a super pretty bitch. For her age a typical head and expression, needs time to grow into her ears but used so well. She had an excellent front and neck assembly. She is compact in her body, with a brilliant coat and colour. One I can not wait to see progress and one of those dogs I feel lucky to put my hands on.. BCC and Best Puppy 2ND 2366 - Bowerhinton Bowtruckle Rollssupreme NAF (Mrs P H Clark) Another very pretty bitch, she was feminine in skull and expression. When stood correctly created a superb outline. For her age I would prefer slightly smaller. She moved with ease and purpose. Handled brilliantly. 3RD 2377 - Laakso Katja (Mrs W A & Mr K A Threadgold) RES 2379 - Laakso Kaunis at Akritiko (Mr Mj & Mrs Jg Williams) VHC 2360 - Laakso Kindamenttobe for Carolon (Mrs C & Mr P Allchin) 794. Norwegian Elkhound - Post Graduate Bitch Entries: 1 Absentees: 0 1ST 2371 - Laakso Julaften (Miss T Mortimer) A bitch who overall created a lovely outline, she is balanced and well conditioned. She is pretty in head but would like more a wedge, which will come with maturity. Ears slightly larger than preferred. A sound mover, and in profile correct. Accurate mover in front. 796. Norwegian Elkhound - Limit Bitch Entries: 2 Absentees: 0 1ST 2378 - Bowerhinton Bright Flame at Starceylon (Mr C & Mrs L & Miss A Tyson) A bitch of high quality, who was a compact, well proportioned and balanced. She has such a pretty expression on super feminine head. Strong in front and rear with correct angles. Shown in great coat and condition. In profile stood and moved typical, and handled so well. 2ND 2363 - Brumous A New Dawn for Barbelka (Ms B M, Mrs K & Mr T Barganska, King & King) A bitch who is very feminine, but would like more of her all round. Not the easiest to be handled but we made it happen. A pretty expression on an ok head. Nice neat ears, with strong neck. Of good rib and loin, tail set correct. 797. Norwegian Elkhound - Open Bitch. Entries: 2 Absentees: 0 1ST 2373 - Ch/am Ch Kamgaard Klementina (Imp Usa) (Ms S & Ms M Simmonds & Mott) The other bitch from this kennel who had so much of what I wanted. She was smart and balanced in every way. A fantastic expression. She was short in back, strong in front and good rear quarters. Her coat was sublime, in condition, texture and colour. She was a true mover in profile. RCC. 2ND 2369 - Bowerhinton Blackbird (Mrs T Maun) A very pretty bitch, she had a super head and expression. Good reach of neck, into nice front. Topline could be better. Tail set was correct. She was shown in good coat, a sound moving bitch but lacked to and from.
