South Yorkshire Hound Society – 12 July 2025

Well what a lovely show, ran by hound people for hound people and it shows. My many thanks to the committee for this lovely appointment. Also a huge thank the exhibitors for their entry and more so, those who braved the potential heat, the quality on show today was superb in all breeds. Thank you also to my two lovely stewards who kept us ticking along.

Borzoi

Puppy

1st & BP - Mr R & Mrs A Jackson - Mischran Vilgefortz at Padztar – Red and white lad of good size and substance, carrying handsome features. Lovely long head, expressions and small ears to match. Long neck strength. Good lay to his shoulder, Straight front. Good depth of chest for his age, giving a nice underline, and curve to his topline. Super coat texture. Well developed hindquarters, nicely muscled. An active mover, showing spring and drive once settled.

Post Graduate

1st and RBOB - Mr A, Mr N & Mrs E Dawson - Stubbylee at Sunrise – a real pretty girl, nicely proportioned throughout, presented in super condition, predominately red covered. Smart head and expression with good eye and ear set. Long neck length with strength. Good lay of shoulder, and fill in chest. Nice shape to her ribs. Good tuck up, with suitable flow to her topline. Strong loin. Well put together rear, with good strength. In profile well balance with drive and reach. Think she will mature

2nd Mrs K Webb - Mischran Tissaia at Parsax – Another feminine girl, liked her type, and another mainly read girl over white. Lovely head, long, with nice shape to her ears. Good neck length. Appropriate lay of shoulder. Good depth of chest and tuck up to match. Nice flow to her topline. Strong loin of good length. Nice shape to her rear quarters, strong providing ok drive today.

1st & BOB - Mr A, Mr N & Mrs E Dawson - Mischran The Sequel for Stubbylee JW – Striking grey and white male, of good size and substance. Just approaching full maturity with his development. Handsome long head, nice eye shape. Good ears. Good neck length, of strength, leading to a well made front assembly. Lovely depth of chest and fill. Good length to his ribs. Nice flow to his topline with good rise. Correct silk texture to his coat. Nice shape to his rear, with muscle to match. Good width for and aft, drove out well in profile with reach to match.

2nd Mrs K Webb - Mischran Calanthe at Parsax – Tri coloured bitch. Different in type to first. Good outline, and in proportion throughout. Pretty head, nice eye shape. nicely set ears. Long neck leading to a nice set of shoulders. Good depth of chest with fill. Straight front. Excellent underline and topline to match. Mell made rear assembly, with ok angulation. Good width going away and a pretty picture in profile.

1st & BP - Miss V Woodcock - Abbotsoak A Lil Bit Naughty – Striking white with a few hints of chestnut throughout. Pretty head of nice proportions, good skull shape with super ears. Strong neck of good length. Correct shoulders, and suitable depth of chest for age, sitting above the elbow appropriately. Prominent forcehest, good front. Excellent rib length, strong loin for age. Correct rear angulation. Once settled a lovely picture in profile showing correct movement.

2nd Mrs N Worthington - Abbotsoak Ghost of Magnus - Almost completely white strapping young man. Masculine and with good substance throughout. Excellent head, and ears, well set. Good neck length leading to ok front. Good forechest to match with prominent breast bone. Nice chest shape and of length. Good tuck up with correct topline. Nicely made rear, with a good covering of muscle. Drive out nicely, just a little loose but to expected for age.

3rd Miss V Woodcock - Abbotsoak Miss Honey.

Yearling

1st & BOB - Miss V Woodcock - Abbotsoak Summer Nights – Smart bitch, white with patches of chestnut. Just 12 month and despite her age ticked a lot of boxes and shown in good condition. Well proportioned throughout. Excellent head, pretty nice expression, with good ears. Good neck length leading to well made front. Appropriate depth of chest with good forechest to match. Nice shape to her ribs and good length. Level topline held on the move. Good hip bone placement. Well made rear, showing little bend of stifle, with nice hock length. Didn’t put a foot wrong in movement today, with typical movement and good foot placement, one for the future I feel.

Limit

1st - Miss J L Taylor - Yetti (Imp Esp) - Rough haired. Upon inspection, she was a little square for my liking. Pretty with a long head and large ears, nicely set. Good neck length. Ok front assembly with adequate chest depth a shape, with ok fill to match. Level topline, with good underline. Nicely set hip bones. Correctly made rear with good conditioning. Showed fairly balanced movement in profile.

1st & RBOB - Miss J L Taylor - Ch Abbotsoak Carousel JW ShCEx OSW – A white with patches of chestnut 7 yr old bitch who exudes quality throughout. Standing over ground and in proportion throughout. Typical head, long with excellent expression. Excellent ears correctly placed. Good neck length, nicely arched. Excellent chest shape and correct depth, nicely above the elbow. Good forechest. Ribs of length with a level topline and correct tuck up. prominent pin bones. Well made rear. Lovely in profile showing typical movement.

2nd - Miss V Woodcock - Ch Abbotsoak Any Dream Will Do – Litter brother to first and of equal quality and in excellent condition. Chestnut with flashes of white. Smart masculine head. Excellent ears of good size and set. Good neck length leading to correct front. Appropriate depth of chest, finishing above the elbow. Excellent rib shape, and of length. Level topline. Good pin bones. Nicely put together rear providing correct movement. A little wired and enthusiastic today.

Norwegian Elkhound

1st and RBOB - Miss L Brown - Graythor Captain Hook – Masculine boy in good proportion with a nice square in outline. Good expression, correct eye with nice size ears, correctly set. Ok neck length of good strength. Well made front with good chest fill. Good topline and appropriate chest to loin length ratio. Correct Coat. Pleasant rear assembly providing good drive.

1st & BOB - Mrs T Maun - Ch Bowerhinton Bassanio – Smart, handsome chap with quality throughout. Good outline, in proportion and in super condition. Good expression, excellent ears, and set. Strong neck leading to well made front. Good lay of shoulder, and depth of chest. Excellent rib shape, with short back. Correct dense coat with good tailset. Correct bend of stifle completing the look. Effortlessly covered the ground maintaining his topline with super reach in front.
