Evesham and District Premier Open Show

Sunday 13th July 2025

Three Counties Showground, Malvern

Judge Andria Kerr (Buhera)

I would like to thank the committee for their kind invitation to judge their Premier Open Show. I must say, I was pleasantly surprised at the size of the show upon arrival — it felt more akin to a Championship Show. The venue, set in the heart of the Malvern Hills, was truly beautiful.

My sincere thanks to my stewards for their expertise in the ring, ensuring that both myself and the dogs remained as cool as possible on what was an extremely hot day — and for keeping me on track!

Most importantly, I would like to thank the exhibitors for entrusting me with the privilege of judging their loyal companions and for accepting my decisions with such grace.

Class 148 – Puppy (2 entries, 1 absent)

Best Puppy, Reserve Best of Breed

1st – 341 Kwanza El Faiyum at Matikiridge (Imp Nld) – Mrs N Hurn

11-month-old red wheaten puppy. Stood alone in his class, but this did not detract from his obvious quality. Developing a good head with eyes that harmonise beautifully with his coat colour. Good bone and adequate length of neck. Chest well filled with good flex in the front pasterns. Strong rear angulation. Held his topline well on the move and moved out with confidence. A strong boy who will benefit from more ring schooling, but shows lots of promise.

Class 149 – Special Yearling (2 entries, 0 absent)

1st – 337 Kinabula's Making Magick for Faahac – Mrs C L & Miss M L Catharell

12-month-old male, still very much a youngster with lots of development to come. Super head with lovely dark round eyes. Good length of neck leading to well-placed shoulders and a good front assembly. Well ribbed with balanced rear angulation. Moved out well for one so young and was well handled. A promising youngster with a bright future who just needs time to mature.

2nd – 336 Kinabula's Hot On Your Heels with Chainama – Mr J & Mrs W Broadsmith

12-month-old female and litter sister to my class winner, as I later discovered. Another lovely head with the most beautiful kind eye. Lighter in bone than her brother. Lovely, well-defined ridge and crowns. Good overall proportions, but she wasn’t quite as settled on the move today, which cost her the top spot.

Class 150 – Limit (3 entries, 1 absent)

1st – 344 Carlincox Mash It Up JW – Mr A & Mrs A Murphy, Mr C & Mrs L Cox

3-year-old masculine male. Would prefer a touch more refinement in the head and slightly more length in muzzle. Good neck leading into well-placed shoulders. Lovely front assembly matched with good rear angulation. Held his topline on the move and moved soundly, which earned him the class win.

2nd – 340 Kenzduo Daffodil – Mrs H Hall

Up-to-size girl who initially caught my eye on entering the ring. Lovely head and nice length of neck. Well ribbed with good angulation both front and rear. A bitch I really liked; however, she made her handler work hard and didn’t move as well as she could have today, which cost her the class.

Class 151 – Open (2 entries, 0 absent)

1st – 338 Kinabula Ment to Be for Faahac – Mrs C L & Miss G Catharell & Lawless

6-year-old liver-nosed female. A good head with eye colour that harmonises perfectly with her coat. Moderate height with a good neck leading into a lovely front assembly. Good flex in the pasterns and excellent width through the thighs with well let-down hocks. She powered around the ring with such presence and drive — I could not deny her 1st place and Best of Breed.

2nd – 340 Kenzduo Daffodil – Mrs H Hall

As previously critiqued.
