COVENTRY LKS 1/1/2025

What better way to spend the first day of the year than judging some wonderful Gundogs. Thank you all for your entries and to the society for the invitation. Grateful thanks to my 2 stewards for keeping the ring running smoothly.

ENGLISH SETTERS P (0) PG (6,4) 1 and BOB White’s Droveborough Silver Pearl For Paduan heavily marked blue belton who makes a nice shape on the stack, lean head of good proportions and a lovely expression, long neck and well laid shoulders, firm level topline and close fitting elbows, the best mover of those present today but I wish there was a little more of her 2 Ross’s Bailsbeedale Lady Annabelle 18mth b slightly more compact than the winner and not standing so true in front, she has an attractive head and expression and a good length of neck, topline is firm and level but tail set is a little low, moved ok O (4,2) 1 and RBOB Bailsbeedale Lady Annabelle more settled in this class and moving out with ease 2 Hoppers Bramstorm Fire Sprite a handsome 8 yr orange d with strong well boned forelegs, good ribbing and a deep chest, slightly arched loin and well bent stifles, in good coat but sadly slightly unsound today on the move.

IRISH SETTERS P (4,2) 1 and BOB, BPIB Harrison’s Clonageera Summer Dreams At Millpoint I have judged this 10mth b before and liked her, she has a beautiful lean and well proportioned head and lovely dark eye giving a soft and kind expression, good length of neck and standing true in front on neat arched feet, body is well ribbed with a slightly sloping topline and more than enough hind angulation, she still needs to strengthen behind but the overall picture is very promising 2 and RBOB Ashley-Turners Riverbru The Joker 8 mth d of good size and shape, handsome head with correctly set ears, pleasing neck and front angulation, straight well boned forelegs and a good depth of chest for his age, stronger in the rear than the winner but not quite so good in front J (0) PG (1,1) L (1,1) O (1,1)

POINTERS P (4,1) All 3 aged 7months were from the same litter and I was really splitting hairs between them 1 and BP Stilgoe and Fox Teisgol Sweet William o/w d who today was the better of the 3 on the move, typical Pointer puppy head needing to develop on but with well set ears and a kind eye, good length of neck which is slightly arched into long well laid shoulders, enough forechest for age and nicely angulated in the rear although I would have liked a little more slope to his topline, very together on the move with good rear drive which won him the class 2 Saunders and Newton Teisgol Calendula o/w d looking really good on the stack, pleasing head and length of neck, straight forelegs to strong slightly sloping pasterns and well knitted feet, good depth of chest and slightly sloping topline to correctly set tail and well angulated quarters, not as strong in rear movement as the winner 3 Stilgoe, Stilgoe and Fox Teisgol Rose Campion J (8,4) 1 Harrison’s Millpoint Watson a well grown b/w boy, very shapely and presented in muscled condition, good width of skull, good dish and dark well placed eyes, he has a super neck and long well laid shoulders, very good front and depth of chest with ribs extending well back under a firm slightly sloping topline, covers the ground easily with a good length of stride 2 Stilgoe and Fox Teisgol Alohomora I loved the shape of this 15 mth o/w b and she has a lovely head and expression, super neck and lay of shoulder, overall looking nicely balanced on the stack, on the move although sound and covering the ground well she seemed a little unsettled and kept her tail clamped to her backside which spoilt the overall picture 3 Westaway and Eldridge Bradgate Yours Truly G 5,2) 1 Millpoint Watson (as J) 2 Booths Lundgarth Jubilee 2.5 yr o/w b with an attractive head profile although eyes a little round, she has a good lay of shoulder and stands on straight forelegs and slightly sloping pasterns, topline could be firmer but she moved out well with good drive 3 Robson’s Bradgate Dasher PG (4) 1 and RBOB Guys Carofel If I had Wings JW a stunning 2 yr o/w b, so beautiful in profile with moderate width of skull and defined stop, elegant neck of good length into well laid shoulders, medium amount of forechest and a good depth of chest, tidy elbows and firm slightly sloping topline with short loin to well angulated quarters and strong hocks, so sound and true on the move covering the ground with good strides. To be hyper critical I would have liked a little more muscle condition on her hindquarters but I could not deny her RBOB here or the RBOB stakes later in the day 2 Brooksmiths Nightgold Pipkin 5 yr l/w b a pretty girl with a pleasing head shape but eyes could be a fraction darker, she has a good length of neck into well laid shoulders, ample forechest and depth of chest, topline slopes slightly to well set tail and nicely angulated hindquarters, although sound she could have a little more animation on the move 3 Truemans Bradgate Floki L (8,1) 1 Matthews Sonham C’est La Vie 2.5 yr b/w b, very shapely in profile with good oval bone and well angulated front and rear with ribs extending well back, deep in brisket with a slightly sloping topline and short strong loin, from the front she is a tad narrow and could have a little more strength to her head but on the move she displayed good reach and drive 2 Webb’s Tenshilling Jimmy Mac JW good looking o/w d rising 3, strong and well made but not overdone, presented in fit condition, this lad has a really good head and eye, slightly arched neck of good length and a good depth of chest, strong topline and loin to correct tail set and well angulated quarters, I felt he would have benefitted from a bigger ring to allow him to really drive out as his construction dictates he could 3 Brooksmiths Millpoint Golden Pippin JW O (4,1) 1 and BOB Westaways Sh Ch Teisgol Keep On Going Via Penwest JW 3 yr lemon/white d, a quality dog presented in fit and muscular condition who is well constructed all through and has an air of elegance about him. Masculine head with width to skull and well set ears, strong slightly arched neck good oval bone to strong pasterns, deep brisket and close elbows, firm topline and short muscular loin, strong hindquarters and well developed second thigh. Such a sound and easy mover displaying powerful drive. Pleased to award him BOB today 2 Bradleypoint Floki b/w d, not a bad shape once he settled into himself, masculine head with good dish and neat leathers, enough neck length to well laid shoulders, a good spring of rib and well bent stifles, not the power of the winner on the move 3 Robson’s Bradgate Until Dusk
