Breed: Hounds

Thank you for your entries. It is always a privilege to judge. There were some disappointments today with some classes as some dogs were not performing as well as they could and were distracted by the activities outside the ring. However, I was pleased with my top winners and enjoyed the day.

Basenji - Open

1. Knowles, Sarawana Dragons Conquest JW - A balanced bitch with pleasing head with dark eye. Well laid shoulder, short level back. Good chest. Moderate bend of stifle. Moved well in all directions. Tightly curled tail. Best of Breed, Hound Group 3

2. Hardy & Hallam Ch Tokaji Memphis Belle - Quality balanced bitch in lovely condition. Liked her head and eye. Lengthy neck, well placed shoulders. Ribs well sprung. Moved well in profile.

Basset Griffon Vendeen (Petit)

Junior 

1. Fairhurst & MacAulay Erylan Passiflore - Balanced bitch with good head and eye. Well laid shoulder, correct ribbing. Strong loin. She always held her topline. Good bend of stifle. Moved happily and soundly

2. Watson & Kenna - Cynetkoy Charlie Brown Good head proportions, strong in jaw. Strong neck. Shoulders well placed. Good topline. Felt he needs to tighten up on the move, but he looks well in profile. BP

Post Graduate

2. Osbourne Beaujons Wayne Sleep with Braego -Good head, strong neck, clean shoulder. Deep chest. Well angulated rear. He moved with drive. Short thick tail.

Open

1. Watson & Kenna Cynetkoy’s Heihei - This boy has a good coat. I liked his head, eye and dark nose. Good angulation fore and aft. He has a deep chest. Level topline. Strong loin. Good bend if stifle. Short thick tail. Moved well with happy carriage – BOB.

2. Townsend Afterglow Curtain Call avec Roxastan - Typical head, harsh coat. Strong neck. Good angulation front and rear. Level topline. Deep chest. Moved soundly. Well handled.

 Rhodesian Ridgeback

Puppy

1st: Hodge, Colkeririn To The Nines I was taken with this youngster, who caught my eye as soon as she entered the ring. Already a show girl with alert, intelligent expression. She is elegant, has round eyes, well set ears and a powerful jaw. Long, clean neck leading in to well placed shoulders. She has good depth of chest for her age. In excellent body condition. Good bend of stifle. Well arched toes. She moved freely around the ring. I loved her and will watch her future career with interest and was delighted to award her Best Puppy and Best of Breed. She was my Puppy Group Winner and Adult Group 4.

2. Mackfall, Mackfall & McIntosh Africaner Zavanna Breeze - Another beautiful girl in lovely condition, carrying herself well around the ring. Good eye and expression, clean neck. Good front, well ribbed. Strong hind quarters. Promising youngster.

 Junior

1. Phillips Shakina Bee Light in the Dark - Larger bitch than second with decent head and eye. Could be tighter in front. Well bodied. Deep chest. Well-muscled. Maturity won her this class. She moved well in profile holding her topline.

2. Hodge Colkeririn Stitch in Time - Litter sister to 1st in Puppy. Another promising girl, not quite as mature as her sister. Feminine head with round eye. Strong neck. Good angulation front and rear. Chest developing. Moved well with presence.

AVNSC Hound

Puppy

1. Kidds Cloudside Prince of Light – Afghan Hound - There is lots to like about this boy. He has a fabulous outline. Good head, long neck. Still developing in body, as you would expect at this age. Shoulder well laid, good length to upper arm. Prominent pin bones. He moves with springy gate with his ringed tail raised. Best Puppy and Puppy Group 2.

2. Hardisty Blunderhall Jackson – Beagle- Tri boy. Balanced outline. Good head and expression. Ribs well sprung. Moves so well with level topline.. Presented in fabulous condition.

Junior

1. Lancashire and O’Donnell Drishaun Consider This Baby – Afghan Hound - A brindle boy with such a gleaming coat. Pleasing head and eye. Long neck, good angulation front and back. Chest is developing. Level topline prominent hipbones. He moved with well with style. Ringed tail. Fabulous presentation.

2. Smith Vigor Luscious – Beagle Nice head, strong in body, level topline. She has an alert temperament. Needs to tighten up in movement. Good tail carriage.

Post Graduate

2. Sawyer Inchydoney Memories Une Virgin Mary avec Stonelow (IMP FRA) JW - Greyhound - Fawn. Nice head, long neck. Balanced angulation. Has good body and bone. Strong loin. Presented in great muscle tone. Moved well but carried her tail a little too high.

Open

1. Lancashire and O’Donnell Ch Drishaun Babys in Black JW – Afghan Hound - A real showman who is up to size. His black and tan coat was presented to the last hair. This boy is in excellent condition and muscle tone. His head could be more refined, but he has a well-shaped dark eye and powerful jaw. Long strong neck. He is well made through out holding a level topline at all times. Deep chest, well sprung ribs, prominent hip bones. Long tail with the required ring, which was raised on the move. This boy really comes alive on the move, powering around the ring with such presence. Best AVNSC and Hound Group 1.

2. Melbourne & Murray Diheath Chekov JW – Basset Hound – Masculine head, Level topline, good ribbing, good rear angulation. Moved well.
