Wirral Kennel Association – Open Show – 28th December 2025 – Border Collies

Firstly, my thanks to the committee for the invitation to judge at this well-organised and friendly show. Although the ring size was somewhat restricted, which made movement assessment a little challenging for the dogs, I thoroughly enjoyed my appointment.

My thanks also go to my efficient steward and to the exhibitors.

Puppy Dog Or Bitch (5,2)

1st Wiltshire & Rogers - Caleykiz Ignite The Passion

A 7-month-old dog of pleasing type. He has a good expression with a kind eye and well-used ears. Balanced in both front and rear angulation, which enabled him to move the best in this class. Good croup, with correct tail set and length. Presented in a good coat. Pleased to award him Best Puppy

2nd Ward - Windwalker Aurora

An 11-month-old bitch with a feminine expression and pleasing head. Attentive to her handler, with well-used ears. Nice overall shape and moved well. I just preferred the overall type of the winner today.

Junior Dog or Bitch (2,2)

Post Graduate Dog or Bitch (3,0)

1st Prandle - Roydenbark Meet Joe Black At Baywern

A 24-month-old black and white male with much to admire. Well balanced overall with pleasing proportions. Attractive head with a kind eye, good neck and shoulder placement. Good oval feet. Moved soundly both coming and going. Presented in excellent condition and handled well. Unfortunately, he became unsettled in the challenge, which cost him higher honours.

2nd Ward - Blackgold Basil

Another 24-month-old black and white male. Nice head and eye, with ok length of neck and good shoulder, balanced by a good rear. Moved soundly out and back. I just preferred the overall shape and type of the winner.

Open Dog or Bitch (9,6)

1st Buckley - Amkamel Half Blood Prince JW

A male I have judged previously and one I continue to like for his breed type. Balanced front and rear angulation, correct topline, and good body proportions. Moved soundly and was presented in good condition. Pleased to award him Best of Breed.

2nd Barratt - Pendleway Time Lord

An appealing male with a pleasing head and good eye. Well-constructed with good neck and shoulder and a well-angled rear. Correct topline, which he maintained on the move. Presented in lovely condition and handled well. On the day, I just preferred the overall shape and type of the winner. Awarded Reserve Best of Breed.
