Parti-Coloured Cocker Spaniel Club
I would like to thank the Officers and Committee of The Parti-Coloured Cocker Spaniel Club for the kind invitation to judge at their open show held on Sunday 8th June 2025. I am particularly appreciative of the exhibitors who remained after the judging of Three Counties for me to assess their dogs.
I was pleased with the overall quality of the entry. The majority of exhibits displayed sound temperaments. However, I did note the presence of three or four level bites, which should be monitored going forward.
I must apologise for the delay in submitting these critiques; my professional and other dog show commitments have unfortunately contributed to the time taken.

Class 1 – Baby Puppy Dog/Bitch (2,0)
This was the most difficult class of the day for me to judge, as both exhibits are still very young and are certain to change considerably over the coming year. Both displayed excellent temperaments and confidence.
1st – Norie-Miller's Ryallcourt Silent Night – 5-month-old black, white and tan bitch with a lovely head. Square, compact and cobby, everything is well balanced and in proportion for her age. Merry and confident on the move. Slightly shorter-coupled and a little more maturity than second at this early stage.
2nd – Bindza’s Laurellakes Quintessence – 4-month-old blue roan and tan dog with a masculine head, wide square muzzle, dark eyes and low-set ears. Displays good width both front and rear with wide and deep ribs for one so young. Merry on the move and unfazed by the show environment.
Class 2 – Minor Puppy Dog (2,0)
1st – Craig’s Riondel Amadeus – 7-month-old dark blue of pleasing type. Lovely dark head with a soft, gentle expression enhanced by his dark eye. Displays good length of neck into fine, sloping shoulders, with a level topline. Compact and square in outline, with a nice body shape. Very confident and merry on the move, showing great promise for his age.
2nd – Sutton’s Shirepark Fly Me To The Moon – 6-month-old blue roan, slightly more raw than the winner but full of quality. Masculine head and a level topline with correct angulation fore and aft, carried on well-boned legs. Short, square, and cobby, with good width of chest and well-sprung ribs for his age. Loved his cheeky, confident character, but today preferred the maturity and freer movement of first.
Class 3 – Minor Puppy Bitch (6,2)
1st and BMPIS– Gladman’s Classagh's Footsteps to Chativore – 7-month-old light blue of pleasing type. Lovely dark eye and gentle expression, square, compact and cobby in outline. Pleasing front construction with well laid-back shoulders and moderate length of neck. Good width fore and aft, moved with drive and confidence for her age. A promising puppy
2nd – Morris’ Riondel Masquerade In Blu – 7-month-old dark blue feminine bitch. Lovely dark head and eye with clearly defined stop. Slightly longer cast than first but balanced overall. Good width front and rear with a firm topline which she held well on the move. Merry and moved with drive.
3rd – Collings’ Aylesmead Blu Rose at Colmandakev – 8-month-old blue bitch.
Class 4 – Puppy Dog (4,3)
1st - Sewell and Hunt’s Lynwater Mad Hatter at Quattrozampe – 11 month orange roan dog that presents with hazel eyes that harmonize with the coat and low set ears. Moderate length and reach of neck which flows cleanly into a straight front. Showing promise in body development. On the move he displayed a pleasing reach forward, covering the ground with ease. Sadly, stood alone in this class.
Class 5 – Puppy Bitch (6,1)
1st – Masters and Dott’s Manchela Soul Sister – 11-month-old dark blue bitch, litter sister to the winner of Class 8. Very similar in construction, she is well developed with a lovely dark head and eye. Balanced throughout with good reach of neck, well-sprung ribs and a nice deep chest. Square, compact and merry with tailset carried correctly. Moved with drive on a loose lead. In the challenge, she was just pipped to the post by her sister, as I preferred her overall substance and outline. But pleased to have been able to award her RBPIS.
2nd – Tomlinson’s Milalder Breeze Of Grace – very pretty and feminine 7-month-old black and white who presents a very pleasing Cocker outline, catching the eye immediately in a positive way due to her markings. On examination, she did not disappoint. Feminine head with a lovely dark eye and moderate neck length. Balanced with well-developed forechest, well-boned forelegs and correct angulation fore and aft. A typical, merry cocker on the move. Really unlucky to meet first in this class.
3rd – Collings' Aylesmead Blu Rose at Colmandakev – 8-month-old blue bitch.
Class 6 – Junior Dog/Bitch (6,1)
1st & BIS – Whitehead’s Ryallcourt Grand Slam (AI) – A striking 13-month black and white dog, masculine throughout, presented in a flat, silky coat. Nicely chiselled skull, dark eyes, and a wide square muzzle. He shows excellent width front and rear, with well-boned limbs and short hocks. Sufficiently muscled, giving balance and drive on the move. Covered the ground with purpose and style, full of type and quality. Pleased to award him Best in Show.
2nd – Cox’s Ryallcourt Charm Of Unique to Suvern (AI) - Litter brother to first, 13 months old, also black and white. Slightly more compact in build, with a masculine head of the highest quality. Well laid shoulders, short loin, and level topline, standing four square. Moved with drive but was not quite as settled as his brother today which cost him the class. A dog of great merit who will no doubt change places with his sibling in future.
3rd – Cowles’ Regaltav Valentine to Shenjela - 15-month blue bitch of pleasing type, feminine with good proportions.
Res – Salmon’s Crimicar Blu Diamond – 14-month blue bitch.
Class 7 – Yearling Dog/Bitch (3,1)
1st – Davies’ Ryallcourt Happy Dance of Peacevale - 18-month light blue bitch with a delightful feminine head, dark expressive eyes, and low set ears. The silky quality of her coat was immediately apparent when going over her. Well laid shoulders, level topline, good width front and rear, she would benefit from a little more substance across the loin. Short below the hock and moved freely with confidence.
2nd – Collings’ Chativore Sea Pebble at Colmandakev - 23-month blue bitch, slightly more substantial than the winner. Compact and cobby, with well-muscled and correctly angulated quarters. Held her topline well on the move. Just preferred the merry, confident outlook of first on the day.
Class 8 – Novice Dog/Bitch (7,2)
1st, RBIS, BOS & BPIS – Masters and Dott’s Manchela Sister Sledge – 11-month dark blue bitch of great promise, shown in immaculate condition. Feminine head with soft expression, standing square with fine shoulders and balanced outline. Well developed for her age with good width and depth of chest, short muscled loin and level topline both standing and on the move. Displayed a merry attitude and moved with drive, easily capable of a day’s work in the field. Her silky coat was beautifully presented. Pleased to award RBIS, BOS and BPIS, seriously considered for BIS.
2nd – Torbett’s Kirlinjis Gold Beach – 1 year old orange bitch with a feminine head, complemented by hazel eyes that harmonise with her coat colour. Moderate neck, good width fore and aft, with a nicely developed deep chest. Moved soundly, though not quite as square in outline as the class winner.
3rd – Covington’s Delightful Hunter Legendary at Silverdust - 13-month blue dog, masculine with good bone, still maturing but shows promise for the future.
Class 9 – Special Novice Dog/Bitch – not blue roan (6,0)
1st – Torbett’s Kirlinjis Gold Beach – see critique from class 8 but would just like to add that her maturity and square proportions secured her 1st place in this class.
2nd – Nicholas’ Nickarlyn Voodoo Magic - 20-month black and white bitch, feminine and well balanced with a level topline and typical cocker outline. Square and proportionate throughout with good bone, merry in action with correct tail carriage. Just preferred the width of first today.
3rd – Sewell’s Lynwater Mad Hatter at Quattrozampe- 11-month orange roan dog, masculine and well made, displaying strength and a pleasing outline. Just lacked the maturity of those above in this class.
Class 10 – Graduate Dog/Bitch (10,6)
1st – Small’s Albertean Minerva JW - 22-month blue bitch, feminine with dark eye and correct ear placement. Moderate neck flowing into well-laid shoulders and level topline. Balanced and compact with a merry temperament, moved with drive, covering the ground freely, shown in excellent coat and condition.
2nd – Salmon’s Crimicar Blu Diamond - 14-month blue bitch with good forechest and substance throughout. Feminine head, deep chest, well sprung ribs, catlike feet, and well-prepared coat. Longer in loin than first and not quite as consistently merry on the move, though still a quality bitch of pleasing type.
3rd – Davies’ Mabelhope Melrose Miss of Peacevale - A 2½-year-old liver roan bitch, feminine in head with a balanced outline, moved soundly.
Class 11 – Post Graduate Dog/Bitch (3,1)
1st – Craig’s Alisma Astirist - blue bitch, just under 3 years, with a pleasing feminine head and soft expression. Balanced outline with correct placement of forelegs and withers, sufficiently wide behind to give drive on the move. Compact, full of substance, with good legs and feet. Sound and happy mover with the correct cocker temperament.
2nd – Tomlinson’s Milalder Jumpin Jack Flash – 26-month blue dog that has a masculine yet balanced head with lovely dark eye and expression. Good neck and shoulder, strong compact body, well-angulated rear but longer cast than first. Steady mover but lacked merry ‘cockery’ action.
Class 12 – Veteran Dog/Bitch (2,0)
1st and BVIS – Nicholas’ Nickarlyn Voodoo Doll - 7-year-old black and white bitch, feminine with gentle expression. Good width front and rear, with strong bone and well-constructed legs. Carried a level topline on the move, showing her experience in the ring.
2nd – Hill’s Olibond Sunshine Girl at Princehill - A 10½-year-old orange bitch that is feminine throughout. Her topline dipped slightly when on the move yet but remained merry and animated, tail wagged continuously, reflecting her happy and calm temperament.
Class 13 – Bred by Exhibitor Dog/Bitch (6,4)
1st – Morris’ Riondel Solitaire - 3-year-old blue bitch of classic type and quality. Sweet, feminine head with dark eye, correct ear set. Excellent spring of rib and angulation front and rear, short coupled with a level topline. Square in outline with a flat silky coat. Moved freely and soundly with true cocker action.
2nd – Craig’s Alisma Aloonah - A 3½-year-old blue bitch that is feminine and typey. Dark eye, correct bite, good reach of neck into well-laid shoulders. Slightly longer in body than first. Moved out with strength and ground-covering action but not quite as merry as first.
Class 14 – Not Bred by Exhibitor Dog/Bitch (13,6)
1st – Kitchen’s Annilann Bhama Mama - A 3-year-old dark blue dog, masculine yet balanced, with typical cocker outline. Good width and depth throughout, well sprung ribs, strong bone, and plenty of muscle. Shown in immaculate condition and moved merrily with drive. A fine representative of the breed.
2nd – Salmon’s Crimicar Blu Diamond - 14-month blue bitch, previously critiqued in Class 10. Feminine with substance and quality, moved well, but today I preferred the maturity and strength of first. In class 6 was placed behind Cowles’ Regaltav Valentine to Shenjela; however, in this class was more settled on the move hence change of placings.
3rd – Cowles’ Regaltav Valentine to Shenjela - 15-month blue bitch, feminine with pleasing proportions and a balanced outline.
Class 15 – Special Beginners Dog/Bitch (9,6)
1st – Collings’ Chativore Sea Pebble at Colmandakev - 23-month blue bitch, previously placed second in Class 7. Compact, square and cobby with good angulation, strong topline and substance. Moved soundly with confidence, maintaining her shape. Today she showed herself with greater confidence, which secured her this win.
2nd – Davies’ Mabelhope Melrose Miss of Peacevale - 2½-year-old liver roan bitch, feminine head and level topline. Not as broad in front and rear as first, but a sound mover with balance and type.
3rd – Burn’s Floraadora Amazonite Dream - 10-month black and white that is still very much a puppy but feminine and promising. Showed happily and moved steadily for her age.
Class 16 – Special Open Dog/Bitch – not blue roan (3,0)
1st - Sewell and Hunt’s Lynwater Mad Hatter at Quattrozampe – 11 month orange roan – see class 4 and 9 for critiques.
2nd – Leslie’s Ferresedge Farthing - 22-month light orange bitch, feminine and square in appearance. Good rear angulation and width, though I would prefer a little more width in front. Held her outline well on the move and showed with style.
3rd – Hill’s Princehill Shining Star JW - A 6-year-old black and white bitch, balanced and feminine, shown in good condition and moved steadily.
Class 17 – Open Dog/Bitch (1,0)
