Ladies Kennel Association Of Scotland

Breed: Siberian Husky
It was a pleasure to be invited to judge for the Ladies Kennel Association of Scotland, a great level of thanks to the committee for the invitation. I was gifted an excellent and proficient steward who allowed a smooth running of the tandem shows and entries. The ring was a spacious indoor horse arena, with sand underfoot. Most dogs coped well this surface, but a small number of exhibitors expectedly splayed their feet more so to compensate. Gratitude also goes to the exhibitors for the quality entry. Class 33 Junior (3/0) 1st Furnesfjorden’s First Ragnar for Inneska (IMP NOR), Mr J & Mrs D McInnes A black and White 1 year old I have seen recently. Masculine Foxy head, correct ear set, eye shape and placement. Good length and arch of neck. Correct fore structure angulation, balanced throughout. Chest depth correct for age. Good tone of muscle a gentle arched loin. A well-constructed hind with a nice turn of stifle. Presented himself with a relaxed demeanour which allowed him to move effortlessly. Straight and true on the out and back, Excellent reach and drive with a solid topline covering the ground well. A promising future, I am sure. 2nd Howlvalley’s Evil Genius, Mrs A Reid A very raw and naked 8-month-old Grey and White female. Typical foxy head with correct ear and eye set. Good length and nicely arched neck. Well placed shoulders and fore structure. Pasterns of sound length on compact feet. Would prefer a little more suspension in the pasterns. Chest depth ok for age with a good spring of rib. Height to length is adequate and proportions correct for age. A very excitable girl on the day, who settled just enough to show her reach and drive. Class 34 Post Graduate (9/1) 1st Seppfire Elvira of Sledsuka, T Thomas This 2-year-old solid Black and White bitch caught my attention as she entered the ring with nothing to hide. A very typical feminine head with good proportions, correct eyes and ear set. A smooth outline over the arched neck to an excellent fore structure. A very nice length of leg, gently sloping pasterns and a compact oval foot. Correct depth of chest for age, good proportions of height to length, well arched loin. Well angulated balanced hind with balance throughout. On the move she glided her topline with excellent reach and drive. So effortless, I could watch her all day. One I will watch with interest as she matures. 2nd Furnesfjorden’s First Ragnar for Inneska (IMP NOR), Mr J & Mrs D McInnes As First Junior Class 35 Open (6/2) 1st Inneska Malachite, Mr J & Mrs D McInnes A 5-year-old Male I have seen recently and, on this occasion brought his absolute A-Game. A very pleasing outline with a correct head to suit. A balanced boy with excellent angulation fore and aft. Ideal angle for suspension in pasterns above tidy tight feet. Well developed muscle over the shoulder and throughout, elbows held close to chest that sits just above the elbow line giving ample spring of rib. A solid arched long proportioned length giving way to a correct tail set from a well angled croup. On the move he covered the ground well with adept reach and drive. Topline never faltered. An astute maturing dog who carried himself effortlessly. Very well handled and deserving of BOB and WG3 2nd Hushwing Buttercup of Sura, Mrs S Hay A well presented Black and White 8-year-old bitch. A nicely proportioned foxy head with a keen expression. Piercing blue eyes which can deceive the eye shape when alert. Correct ear set. Good length and arch of neck. Well angulated fore and hind with pleasing proportions throughout. Nice chest depth with spring of rib. Slightly arched loin with a moderate croup. Good turn of stifle. Straight in profile when converged on the move. Smooth topline held with reach and drive. Just lost out on muscle tone to 1st.
