Harrogate & District Canine Society

Firstly, I must thank the committee of Harrogate DCS for the invitation to their busy show this year. It was enjoyable day and it was a very smoothly ran show with excellent catering! The stewards were great and very respondent to myself and the exhibitors. Due to the impending weather, judging was to take place indoors, which presented challenges to the exhibitors and some dogs struggled to show their full merits on the day.

1st Cedarcreek The Only Way Is Up, Mr A, Mrs l and Mrs M, Burgess, Burgess and Page

A 16-month-old Grey and White Male. This boy was super happy today with a great expression. Very well presented with a masculine head of correct proportions. Pleasing soft dark eye and ear set. Balanced overall with some maturity still to come in. Good depth of chest for age. Good bone offering plenty of substance. Lovely tone of muscle. Gentle slope to topline. Straight and parallel throughout. On the move he was adept once converged and covered the ground well. An excellent topline coupled with powerful drive. A pleasure to watch. A promising future for this youngster, I am sure. BOB, WG1

1st Boreal Routes Conundrum for Ahtohallan (IMP SWE), Ms S Gibson

A naked recently turned 2-year-old grey and White Male. A tall male but well proportioned none the less. No mistaking this masculine head, of good size, soothing Brown eyes and ears well set to frame his expression. Good length of neck. Plenty of Bone with lengths correct for age, showing balance throughout. Depth of chest ok. A well-muscled male with plenty of reach and drive on the move. Held his topline well once settled. Just a little untidy on the out and back, but will improve with time in the ring.

1st Samjoe’s Shadowhunter JW, Mrs S and Miss L Perfitt

A 2-year-old Grey and White well presented Male. Masculine head but not too heavy. A soft expression is complemented with his Brown eyes and well-set ears of good thickness. Well-developed arched neck with pleasing angulation fore and aft. Large compact feet. Lovely Chest depth with maturity still to come. A pleasant sloping topline. Well boned throughout. A little unsettled with the environment but improved as he got moving. Covered the ground well with good drive and a steady topline.

1st Elleonia Wish Upon A Star (AI), Miss D E Seward

A dilute Black and White youngster I have seen before. A little more settled this time but she still maintains her cheeky expression. A well angulated individual with balance throughout. Muscle is beginning to develop which is showing off a gently arched loin. Nice clean lines and profile overall. Her width of stand is starting to mature and is adding to the movement profile. A steady topline with good reach and drive. A slow maturer who has an exciting future, I am sure. BP, WGP1

2nd Howlvalley’s Red Velvet, Mrs S Odell

A lovely deep copper toned red and White 11-month-old Male. Moderately foxy head with a super keen and happy expression, Correct eye colour tone and pigmentation. Ears well set. Ample length and arch of neck. Good angulation in fore and balanced overall. Pasterns ok. Correct ratios throughout with a nice tone of muscle. Straight through profile with a good hock length. Covered the ground well with a steady topline. A very raw pup still who needs time to come together.

A naked 20-month-old dilute Red and White bitch. Typical foxy head with correct ears and eye set. Good length of neck. Moderate angulation throughout. Good Length to height ratio for age. Would prefer a more upright pastern. Chest depth ok. A little unsettled when presenting herself but did show a level topline. On the move still very raw and still finding her feet, but did show adequate reach and drive. Hopefully with time and practice she will settle into herself.

1st Lyfearon She is a Wildflower Howlvalley, Mrs S Odell

A dilute Red and White 4-year-old bitch. Keen expression, obliquely set eyes. Correct pigmentation and scissor bite. Ears well set. Well arched neck. Well angulated and balanced throughout. Good spring of rib with the chest depth just above the elbow. Slightly longer than tall with a level topline. Good muscle tone overall. Upright hocks and compact feet, straight through profile and parallel on the move with clean lines once converged. BOB, WG2

2nd Icehowlers Spectacular, Miss K Coleman

A dilute Black and White 3-year-old Bitch. Head features in proportion, correct bite and pigmentation. Good length of neck, Moderate Angulation Fore and Aft, Pasterns ok, would prefer tighter feet. Capacious Chest that meets the elbow. Level topline. Hocks upright and well let down. Steady on the out and back with a clean straight profile. Topline held once settled. Just preferred the muscle tone of 1st.
