Wealdstone & Northolt CS – 20 July 2025 – Judge: Derfel Owen

My thanks to the committee for inviting me to judge their friendly and well organise show. I very much enjoyed judging the stakes and BIS, a lot of quality throughout.

Best In Show

Great Dane – Cranfields Ch Zefather’s Ralph Lauren JW ShCEx OSW. Such a fabulous example of the breed, smart, upstanding and so masculine throughout. His head is strong, with deep set and dark eyes. Has substance in bone, a deep broad chest with good spring of rib and strong, slightly arched loins. In excellent muscular condition and his handler gets the very best out of him. He is a pleasure to watch on the move, covering the ground with great reach and drive.

Reserve Best In Show Pomeranian – Holman’s Ch Altina’s Henry Higgins JW. Classic head and expression; dark expressive eyes and perfect small, erect ears. Very sound and well constructed with straight front and well angulated hindquarters. Was full of himself on the move, with typical, brisk, buoyant, free flowing action.

Best Puppy in Show

Samoyed – King and Jennings Original Beauty Lady Orleansnow (IMP CZE). This boy is very eye-catching and expertly handled to get the best out of him. He is so sound and well constructed, a good firm and level topline and strong loin. He carries himself very well on the move, with a free and sound gait. One to watch for sure.

Reserve Best Puppy in Show

Affenpinscher – Santoriello & Isherwood’s Afterglow Alma’s Not Normal for Pinicio. Mature for her age and it really gives her an advantage. Good outline when stood. She has a most delightful head with typical, mokey-like expression. A short neck, her tail is set correctly and she carries it well. On the move, she is confident and comical but sound as a bell.

Best Veteran In Show

Cesky Terrier – Burrage’s Ch Komidion Prima Donna of Sametova ShCEx VW. Catches the eye immediately Well made, balanced and in excellent condition. Correct arch to skull with strong jaw, high set ears. Body in muscular condition, well laid shoulders, correct topline with slight arch. Moved soundly with drive.

Reserve Best Veteran In Show

English Toy Terrier – Harman’s Ch Witchstone Crazy Horse at Boimans. A favourite of mine, he is sound and so well constructed, he moves out with confidence and sufficient extrension in front. His head is masculine with dark and expressive eyes topped off with well set and carried ears.

Best Special Beginner in Show

Clumber Spaniel – Sainsbury’s Elserwood Cloudy Skies. Winner of the Junior Stakes class earlier in the day.

Reserve Best Special Beginner in Show

Siberian Husky – Dumbarton’s Howlvalleys Lemon Drizzle. Soundly built throughout with arched neck and well muscled body, sound and level top-line, moved out freely with a light, ground covering gait.

Lhasa Apso

Puppy. Litter brother and sisters across the board here. 1st 465 Revillas Rodriguez’s Khumbila Centre Stage. Dog 11mths. Delightful example of the breed. Good front. Nice spring of rib, good topline, correct tail set, carried well. Sound moving with ideal gait. RBOB

2nd 466 Rivillas Rodriguez’s Khumbila Creating Miracles. Bitch 11mths. Litter sister to 1, and whilst she has a lot to like, level topline, good tail set and carriage, she isn’t quite the quality of the dog at this point. Although the standard asks for a reverse scissor bite, she is quite undershot at this stage. Hopefully maturity will improve.

Special Yearling. 1st 464 Rivillas Rodriguez’s Khumbila’s Causing Chaos. Dog 11mths. Super proportions, good head piece, nice eye, good muzzle and excellent dentition. Level topline, good spring of rib, and his movement was lovely. Just edged his brother in the final judgement. BPIB & BOB.

1st 464 - Rivillas Rodriguez’s Khumbila’s Causing Chaos – Lhasa Apso. Repeat

2nd 418 – Masters’ Aprika Graceland – Boston Terrier. Bitch, 12mths. Lovely make and shape, super outline and ideal for size. Loved her head and ears. Dark and expressive eyes. Moves with style and grace.

3rd 199 – Haffenden & Wood’s Nasabe Strikes Again – ETT

Junior Stakes. 

1st 330 Sainsbury’s Elskerwoo Cloudy Skies – Clumber Spaniel Bitch. 14mths. Super sound and so well constructed. Moved with style. Typical head and expression. Level topline, excellent tail carriage.

2nd 479 Walker’s Raeannes Black Velvet – Miniature Poodle. Dog. 13mths. Delightful male, nice head, clean dark eyes, good reach of neck into nice shoulders. High-set, and well carried tail.

3rd 335 – Covington’s Delightful Hunter Legendary at Silverdust JW – Cocker Spaniel

1st 403 Samuels’ Lyfearon Have I Gone Mad – Siberian Husky. Dog. 4 ½yrs. Sound, well built. Nice head, lovely eye. Moved correctly with good tail carriage.

2nd 584 Sandells’ Austmans In My Element at Shawmut – Australian Cattle Dog. Bitch 18mths. Nice bitch, with pleasing head. Sound, well built, correct topline, low set tail, good loin. Moved well.

3rd 360 Lock’s Romanico Bacctu Clarricks JW - Boxer

1st 237 Saffer & Swinge’s Ch Bubbapug Summer Sundae JW - Pug. This pug was on top form today. Excellent head and eye. Superb front and rear angulation. Super spring of rib. Correct curl of tail. Level topline. Moved beautifully.

2nd 424 Anscombe’s Ch Blenhiemstart’s Teliesan of Jraygon JW ShCEx OSW - Bulldog. Muscular and in good condition. Good head and eye. Strong underjaw. Good feet and moving well.

3rd 201 Harman, Harman & Wood’s Ch Nasabe It’s on the Cards for Boiman’s JW - ETT

1st 85 Stratton’s Justartee This Is Me JW CJW25 IR/BEL/NL/DT(VDH)/LUX JCH – Basenji. Lovely head and eye. Good neck, Topline is good. Moved sound and true.

2nd 432 Tystermans Carodal Jacobs Ladder – DalmatianBitch. 4yrs. Good topline, held well. Elegant on the move, well set and carried tail.

3rd 217 – Farrell’s Chetrude Dark Secret – Papillon
