Southern Dogue De Bordeaux Society

 would like to thank the officers and committee of The Southern Dogue De Bordeaux Society for their invitation to judge their club open show. I was honoured to be asked and thoroughly enjoyed my day with a very sporting crowd of breed enthusiasts and their equally charming charges. Temperaments, were excellent. The day was sunny and very hot so I opted to judge under cover as much as possible. Thank you for a fabulous entry, it was my absolute pleasure to judge your dogs. Thanks must also go to my stewards for the day who kept everything running smoothly and efficiently.

 Good outline and proportions. Well developed 8 month old puppy of substance. Mascline all through. Head developing nicely for age with well placed ears clear oval eyes giving frank expression, wide jaw with a good upturn. Strong neck, topline excellent rib cage for age and strong rear.

 2ND 24 - Willsanburg Zero Fox Given (Mrs K Jones)

A real baby of 6 months and still very very raw with lots of developing to do. Basic proportions are fine lovely clear eyes and wide nostrils but still needs to tighten up front and rear which should come as he matures.

A balanced young male of 14 months with distinctive head and expression. Prominent forehead with lovely proportions to the head with good stop strong muzzle well, lots of wrinkle, Eyes oval , good sized ears .Neck strong and solid merging nicely into shoulders .Strong legs with nice pasterns .Lovely deep chest good ribs solid back .Top line straight maintained on the move with good reach and drive .Good angulation strong feet tight toes .Movement free supple and sound .A young male of good proportions just a little worried on the day.

Skull broad with nice width between the ears .Pronounced stop forming clean angles .Good clean wrinkles on strong cheeks .Nice proportions to the muzzle .Well defined chin giving a typical look .Nice frank expression eyes oval set wide apart .Good size ears set well .Neck strong muscular and solid . Strong well laid shoulders good bone with lovely straight legs and pasterns . Chest broad powerful and deep. Strong top line maintained on the move .Strong hindquarters, broad loin, legs strong and muscular .Good angulation front and back . Sound free mover.

16 months young dog who took my eye as soon as he came into the ring, all male with super presance, typical in head with lovely expression, clean oval eyes, correct width in skull, clean correct stop, strong wide jaw with lovely upturn, dentation and enough wrinkle not to spoil a lovely headpiece, Beautifully angulated throughout with the correct amount of bone, lovely strong neck leading to a good lay back of shoulder, pleasing body proportions and a well muscled rear which showed in his movement held his topline on the move, liked his outline both on the move and standing.

2ND 27 - Bearox Jackpot (Mrs K & Mr M Leonard)

20 months young male who was unlucky to come up against 1st in this class, he is another quality dog lighter in bone but still well balanced and I'm sure he has a bright future, Masculine head of correct balance and definition, good width to skull, correct muzzle with wide open nostrils and broad well upturned jaw, good ear-set. strong neck, Liked his front assembly though would like his chest and ribcase slightly deeper, sound top-line and well muscled rear, a lovely outline both standing and moving.

1ST & BOB 8 - Ch Vegas V D Madroelhoeve (Imp Nld) (Miss M Billis)

mature 2 year old quality male of lovely breed type and making a great shape and outline. A real quality head-piece with good width across the skull, just the right amount of wrinkle, good wide muzzle, correct in the mouth with excellent upturn, good eye shape and colour. Very strong neck and correct layback of shoulders, strong top-line with a good tail-set and carriage. Parallel in front with good bone and neat tight feet, lovely wide chest with deep brisket, excellent spring of rib and slight tuck-up. Strong in the rear, well-muscled and in quality coat. This dog excels on the move and is a pleasure to watch.

3 year old Strong boned, well proportioned mature dog, broad skull with clean stop fair wrinkle, deep in ribs chest and correct topline, strong second thigh lacked enthusiasm on the move today.

feminine young bitch at just 6 months there is a lot to like about her, clean broad head with wide jaw and correct upturn of chin. great stop with just the right amount of wrinkle, well padded cheeks and clean ovel eyes. Broad in chest and good straight front, well boned with a lovely topline and rear angulation.

 11 months has the correct shape and proportions to her, nice underjaw, oval eyes set well, lighter in bone than 1st and front feet need to tighten, deep in rib and correct tuck up. just needs more confidence

 11 months young bitch, Pleasing proportions of her head, wide jaw. well filled cheeks for her age good clean wrinkle and well placed ears. broad and well let down chest. stands firm with a very satisfying appearance when viewed front on, tight feet.. Well developed hindquarters and good rear angulation and 2nd thigh.

 7 months a little worried so did not show herself off to her best today, broad across head with correct ear placement, enough wrinkle and sufficient stop. i would have liked more of an upturn in her jaw but her undershot is very minor so affects the lower jaw line. Wide open nostrils. strong neck leading to good layback of shoulder, wide deep chest and great fore chest. strong hindquarters with correct angulation.

14 months a young bitch strong in head, wide deep jaw with good mouth and muzzle, good stop, lots of wrinkle good oval shape to eyes. forehead strong and deep wide skull ears large. narrower in chest than 1st and needs to be deeper. level topline and good tuck up, needs to tighten up behind which reflects in her movement.

16 months strong deep red bitch lovely shape to her head with wide muzzle, jaw and correct upturn. well defined stop, oval eyes set wide apart showing no haw. skull wide with ears set on well giving her a balanced head shape. fabulous deep wide chest with deep well sprung ribcage. strong well muscled hind quarters and second thigh. lovely tight feet. she is well balanced both from the front and in profile Level topline that she held on the move,

2ND 16 - Bobiso Miss Bianca (Mrs J Gaughan)

19 months lighter in bone than 1st but a quality young bitch who has a lovely shape and balance to her. broad in muzzle and jaw with great dentation and upturn. sufficient stop and wide set clear tight oval eyes showing no haw. lovely small ears set correctly onto a broad skull. broad chest well let down but would like to see a little more brisket. Deep ribcage and lovely tuck up, strong level topline which she held on the move. she was in lovely fit condition.

Good broad and deep chest with enough brisket. Ribs deep and well sprung, back strong with level topline. Well defined second thigh. Good angulation, Very well balanced on the move.

3 year old much lighter in bone than 1st, wide lower jaw with good upturn, but very undershot, short in muzzle lots of flew, sufficient stop and wrinkle, would like more fill in cheeks, clean oval eyes well set ears, i would have liked a wider skull. narrow in chest with not enough brisket, rather straight in shoulder and feet turned out good tuck up, strong well muscled hind quarters.

 Another very feminine 3 year old bitch who on another day could easily swap places with 1st place just today was not as eager on the move. fabulous headpiece being balanced and in proportion and every bit a dogue. wide upturned jaw with great dentation, wide open nostrils, muzzle wide and deep with excellent stop and rise over forehead. Hazel oval wide set eyes showing no haw, correct amount of wrinkle and well filled cheeks. Strong neck leading to well angulated shoulder and strong level topline. Chest wide and deep with plenty of brisket, ribcage deep and well sprung . well let down hocks and enough angulation.
