Eastbourne & District Canine Society

Thank you to the committee of Eastbourne and District for the invitation to judge at this popular, well-run Premier Open Show. You pulled out all the stops and worked tirelessly to overcome the nightmare of finding glass in some of the areas where you had planned to position the rings. This resulted in my ring having to be moved to a different area than previously planned. It wasn’t the most even surface of rings and it was a little challenging for the exhibitors, but the hounds all managed to show well.

Thank you to my most efficient steward, Ceri, for the smooth running of my ring and Steve, the show manager for looking after us and keeping us hydrated. It was a very hot day, and all the hounds coped well in heat. It was wonderful to see such good sportsmanship around the ring.

Lovely, balanced head carried proudly, his leathers are set on low and nicely folded. Strong neck with fair width to front and good positioning of shoulders. He is level in topline with a short, muscular loin. Pleasing side gait, using his tail well, although he was just a little close in his rear at the moment. BP

2nd Moore, Mr & Mrs R Probert Calypso Pretty 2-year-old grizzle and white bitch presented in a good, harsh coat. Breed typical head with dark oval eyes and nicely shaped ears. She has a good length of neck into a decent front assembly. Her forelegs are straight with slightly sloping pasterns and neat feet, although she just had the tendency to stand with them slightly turned out. Strong and firm in topline, her chest is deep and well-ribbed. She moved soundly around the ring, her tail constantly wagging.

2nd Skerritt & Betts, Mrs L C & Mrs J Monkhams Nightingale JW Nicely balanced and beautifully presented 2-year-old sable and white bitch. She impressed me on the stack with her breed typical outline. Nothing is overdone or exaggerated. Balanced in angulation fore and aft, her forearms are straight with slightly sloping pasterns and hard, well-padded feet. Her well-muscled rear quarters enabled her to move true, showing reach and drive, her tail carried proudly. RBOB
