Thank you to the committee for their invitation to judge at this popular, well run Premier Open Show. You have a marvellous team who made sure that the show ran smoothly.

We were fortunate to have large rings, which gave the hounds the opportunity to really showcase their movement. My two stewards, Linda and Gordon, worked tirelessly to keep the ring ticking over, thank you for making my day easier. And a big thank you to the exhibitors for giving me the opportunity to judge your wonderful hounds.

1st Dover, Mr K & Mrs A Everwyck Golden Psammead At Keanver Handsome15-month-old red and white male. He is well grown and now needs to spend time developing into his large frame. Attractive, lean head with dark eyes and pigmentation, he has lovely veining in his foreface. Good depth of chest although I would prefer more width to his front. His back is nicely ribbed, and his loin is broad and muscular. His rear is broad with a good bend of stifle and short, parallel hocks. Steady mover around the ring.

1st Dover, Mr K & Mrs A Palamedees Arian Khrysos At Keanver JW 3-year-old red and white male presented in good, hard condition. Well-proportioned masculine head with strength to his underjaw and correct dentition. His long, muscular neck flows smoothly into a nicely made front assembly. He stands on quality, bladed bone with slightly sloping pasterns and neat feet. He has a great depth of brisket with a well-ribbed back. Nicely angulated rear, he has width to his second thigh and strong, low set hocks. Shown in good coat, he was a light and effortless mover. BOB

1st Hunter, Mr A & Mrs D & Miss G Neptune De Koulangar At Sulahmara JW (Imp FRA) This almost 8-year-old shaded black masked gold gives the impression of strength and dignity. His head profile is stunning with almost perfect proportions, and it is enhanced with the most wonderful Mandarin beard. Good length of neck into a correct front and infill, with straight forelegs and large, well-padded feet. His topline is firm and level, with an attractive natural saddle and prominent pin bones. He moved around the ring with style; his ring tail carried correctly. BOB

1st Parkinson, Mrs C Dancing Moon For Hologem Well grown10-month-old tan and white bitch, I liked her size and proportions. Lovely head that is slightly domed, kind dark eyes and long, well-set leathers. She has a good reach of neck into a decent front assembly, with chest below her elbows. Shapely rear quarters with parallel hocks and neat, well-knuckled feet. Steady mover around the ring, although just a little wide going away. BP

1st Stuart, Mrs S Boskenna’s Wicked Witch 19-month-old tan and white bitch with a lovely balanced outline. She is nicely put together – although I wouldn’t want her any taller. Feminine head of correct proportions with long, fine leathers correctly positioned. Her neck is strong and elegantly arched and flows smoothly into well-laid shoulders, her elbows placed well under her withers. She has width to her rear with low set parallel hocks. Pleasing profile movement.

1st Stuart, Mrs S Kellitcreed Danger Digits With Boskenna 3 ½ -year-old tri bitch, with a sturdy and compact outline. She has the prettiest of heads with lovely dark eyes and pigmentation. Strong, well-muscled neck fits smoothly into clean shoulders with super width to front and nice depth of brisket. She stands on quality bone with slightly sloping pasterns and neat, well-knuckled feet. Correct underline and topline, her tail is nicely set and carried gaily. She moved around the ring with a long, free stride. BOB

2nd Pocklington-Hall, Ms M Bayard Bee Good 2-year-old male, he has a lovely outline and is in good condition. Strong, masculine, typey head with strength to muzzle and well-flewed lips. He is balanced in angulations fore and aft with good depth of chest and is firm and level in topline. He moved out soundly on the out and back although he was a little distracted by the aromas on the floor.

1st Stuart, Mrs S Kellitcreed Frozen Assets A nicely constructed 3 ½-year-old tri bitch. Feminine head with clean lines and alert expression. Her neck is strong and of good length and flows into a decent shoulder placement. Straight forelegs with round bone and well-padded feet. She is short coupled with moderately angulated rear quarters and well let down hocks. Her stern is set correctly and well carried. Steady mover in all directions.

1st Jardine, Miss Ch Tadrose North Star Aristocratic 6-year-old red and white bitch with a smooth, quality outline. Exquisite, feminine head that is beautifully wrinkled, dark almond eyes and small, pointed ears. She has the most elegantly crested neck that flows into a super front assembly, her forelegs are straight with fine, quality bone and neat well-arched feet. Good length and spring to her ribbing, she is level in topline with a strong, muscular loin. High tail set with a lovely curl and plenty of shelf. She moved with reach and drive, covering the ground well and looking wonderful in profile. BOB

2nd Jardine, Miss Woodella Hot Rod VW Balanced10-year-old red and white male in fabulous condition, he belies his years. Masculine head with alert, slightly hooded ears and dark almond eyes. Good length of neck leading into well-laid shoulders, his front is well filled, and he has depth to his brisket. His back is short and level in topline, but I would just prefer his tail curl to be a little tighter. He moved around the ring with a long and swinging stride. Beautifully handled.

1st Foote & McAulay, Mr R Mrs G & Miss E Erylan Phoebe Petit Bijou Well grown and nicely presented 13-month-old tri colour bitch. She has a lovely balanced outline on the stack. Pretty, feminine head, dark, oval eyes and pigmentation. Her ears are set on low and nicely folded. Good length of neck that flows smoothly into a well-made front assembly. Her forearms are straight with slightly sloping pasterns and neat, tightly padded feet. Good depth of brisket with a prominent sternum. She moved true in all directions, maintaining her topline. One to watch.

2nd Fairhurst & McAulay, Mrs D & Miss E Erylan Passiflore Smart13-month-old grizzle and white, shown in good, harsh coat. Breed typical head carried proudly - her dark eyes and expression are just delightful. She is balanced in angulations fore and aft and stands with her elbows close in and placed perfectly under her withers. She is level in topline with a short, muscular loin, though just slightly longer cast than 1st. She moved out well in on the out and back, with her tail carried proudly.

1st Bartley, Mr T & Mrs D Erylan Poseidon De La Mer JW Stunning 2-year-old tri, he is a top-class male. He impressed me with his wonderful balanced and compact outline; I just loved him! Masculine head of correct proportions that oozes breed type. His neck is strong and flows smoothly into a super front assembly with clean, nicely positioned shoulders. He stands on quality bone with strong pasterns and the best of feet. His chest is deep and well-ribbed, and he has a short, powerful loin. His rear quarters are broad and well-muscled with strong, low set hocks. Shown in a rough, harsh coat, he powered around the ring showing reach and drive and was accurate in his footfall. BOB & HG2

1st Bartley, Mr T & Mrs D Erylan Loki Maitre Du Mal VW Upstanding 8-year-old tri male with flowing lines. This boy is in tiptop condition. Distinguished, slightly domed head with well-defined stop and wonderful furnishings. He has a good length of neck into a well-made front assembly. He has a super depth of chest with moderately rounded ribs and a short, well-muscled loin. I liked his rear which was broad with a good bend of stifle. He looked wonderful in profile, his tail carried proudly.

2nd Foote & McAulay, Mr R Mrs G & Miss E Erylan Fantastique Freya Typey 4-year-old tri bitch. Fabulous head of correct proportions, she has the darkest of eyes and lovely folded ears. Her shoulders are clean and well placed; her forelegs are straight, although she had the tendency to stand with her front feet slightly out. She has a strong and level topline, her stern is set and carried correctly. Show in a super harsh coat, she moved freely around the ring.

1st Simpson, Miss D L Zxylasahlaam Gea’rr VW Stylish 8-year-old cream male. Refined masculine head that is long and narrow. He has the darkest of oval eyes that give him a wonderful, dignified expression, his ears are well placed and beautifully fringed. Long, muscled neck that is set into a decent front assembly. To be picky I would just prefer a better return of upper arm. He has a good depth of chest, with a curvy tuck up and strong loin. Well-developed first and second thigh with broad, parallel hocks. Light and easy movement. BOB
