Northwich and District Canine Society, Premier Open Show – Rough Collies, Old English Sheepdogs and Bearded Collies 15th June 2025 – Elizabeth Ayrton (Aoibh)

I would like to thank the organizers for inviting me to judge at this well-run show and my stewards for the efficient running of the ring. Also, a big thank you to the exhibitors for their entries. It was good to judge the dogs outside as I feel that movement is of prime importance in all pastoral breeds and generally, they move better on grass than indoors.

Rough Collie

Class 200 – Junior (3,0)

1. Allsopp’s Aqualita Majestic. Sable and white male dog who stood well over himself producing a good outline. Pleasing expression with good eye size and wedge-shaped head. Well angulated fore and rear and moved well. RBOB

2. Williams’ Essanjay Ring of Fire. Well-proportioned head with correct eyes giving a good expression. Excellent front angulation balanced with rear angulation, just closer behind than my winner.

Class 201 – Postgraduate (1,0)

1. Rose’s Beldones Clementine avec Coloratura. Feminine, sable and white bitch with well - balanced head and good expression but slightly weaker underjaw and smaller eye. Nice height to length ratio, good topline and balanced angulation but moved close behind.

Class 202 – Open (4,0)

1. Allsopp’s Aqualita its a Miracle. Masculine tricolour dog of good size. Pleasing head and expression. Stood well in the class producing a typical profile. He has an excellent front with balanced angulation behind and moved out well to win the class. BOB

2. Rose’s Uffspring Ultravox for Coloratura. Tricolour bitch who stood well over herself. Good head with correct placement of eyes and ears to give a pleasing expression. Well angulated and good forechest. Moved well but not with the reach and drive of 1 today.

Old English Sheepdog

Class 203 – Puppy (1,0)

1. Twigg and Wright’s Greydrover Poseidon. Raw young puppy at the bum high stage of development. Masculine dog with good bone. Excellent head and strong lower jaw. Good angulation. On the move he was unsettled but moved much better in the challenge for Best of breed when he was behind another dog and showed more of what he could do, close behind but he has a lot of developing still to do. RBOB, BPIB.

Class 206 – Open (1,0)

1. Adam’s Makaylen Majestic Lady. Three-year-old feminine bitch with a good head and strong jaw. She produced a lovely square shape on the stand and was well angulated. However, it was on the move that she really caught the eye with well-balanced movement which appeared effortless. BOB and was pleased to see her take Group 1.

Bearded Collie

Class 208 – Junior (2,0)

1. Edwards Breaksea it’s time at Nellbrook. 13-month-old feminine brown and white bitch. This girl has a good head of correct proportions with cheeky expression. She has a strong underjaw. Her angulation was good and balanced fore and rear and she had good length which came from the rib. Won the class on her balanced movement. BOB

2. Nolan’s Breaksea Flash Harry in Bricliath. Another young dog with a strong masculine head and pleasing expression. He has balanced angulation fore and rear. Unsettled on the move and not quite the reach of 1,but nevertheless when he did settle, which he did more in the postgraduate class, he showed that he has balanced movement. RBOB.

Class 209 – Postgraduate (3,1)

1. Nolan’s Breaksea Flash Harry in Bricliath.

2. MacDonald’s Corimist All that Glitters. Feminine bitch with mischievous expression. Nice flat head which will hopefully broaden further as she develops. Balanced angulation fore and rear. She was unsettled on the move at first but another that got better as she went on in the class.
