Camberley and District Canine Society Open Show

16.11.2025

Thankyou to Camberley and District Canine Society for inviting me to judge at your open show. I had a lovely day, a big thank you to my excellent steward Iona who did a fantastic job of keeping the ring running quickly and smoothly. I thought the bubbly from Suzanne Crow for the class winners, and prize money for BOB, RBOB and BP from Joy Middleton was a really lovely touch. Also, I would like to thank all the exhibitors for bringing your whippets along for me to judge.

Whippet

P (6,1) 1. Cooper’s Ballauren’s You Got It - Fawn and white female who stands over a lot of ground. She is at a developmental stage at the moment, and needs some time to mature. Moved out well fore and aft, and covered ground when viewed in profile. BP. 2. Lahood’s Starceylon Polifemo – Shapely brindle youngster who was a little unsettled today, and this was reflected in his placing. Well bodied with a lovely sweeping underline. Moved well. 3. Saxby’s Sandspring Sophia Loren.

J (7,1) 1. Griffith’s Pelyma Certainly Snazzy – Compact fawn female who is nice for size. Correct slight rise over her loin and shown in good condition. Well-muscled rear. Moved well. 2. Ballauren’s You Got It (1st puppy). 3. Osbourne’s Derohan Desert Orchid.

PG (12,1) 1. Chappell’s Blueflight Mystique – Compact fawn female with pretty feminine head and long elegant neck. Shapely underline, would prefer a touch more length in loin. Well angulated front and rear. Moved with a daisy-cutting action. RBOB. 2. Lahood’s Starceylon Spectre – Upstanding pale fawn dog who is well muscled throughout. Good depth of brisket with plenty of heart and lung room. Slight rise over the loin. Moved well. 3. Earnshaw’s Palmik I Know What I Like At Moonshadow JW.

L (3,1) 1. Bentley’s Flowerswood Hercule by Moon – Well bodied brindle dog who unfortunately in his previous class, was quite unsettled. Moderate front angulation and nice depth of brisket with sweeping underline. Would prefer a touch more length in loin. Moved well. 2. Chappell’s Blueflight Brewin Up A Storm – Racy blue whippet who stands over a lot of ground. Well-muscled throughout and broad across the thighs. Moved well, just preferred the type of 1.

OD (5,1) 1. Martin’s Bowdonia Go The Distance For Stalwart – Brindle dog who has a good depth of brisket with plenty of heart and lung room. Correct spring of rib. Shapely underline and topline. Well-muscled throughout. Naturally stands over a lot of ground. Moved true fore and aft, and with sufficient reach and drive when viewed in profile. BOB. 2. Soffe’s Zoraden Macchiato JW – Fawn and white dog who is moderately angulated throughout with slight spring of pastern. Shapely underline, shorter coupled than 1. Just preferred the overall shape of 1. 3. Lahood’s Starceylon Spectre.

OB (4,1) 1. Osbourne’s Florancy Above And Beyond Derohan JW – 8 year old shapely brindle female who is in excellent condition for her age. Long and lean head and long neck. Plenty of heart and lung room, very much liked her outline. Would prefer a touch less angulation at the rear. Moved well. 2. Leatheart’s Ringmore Iona – Moderate fawn female who is nice for size. She has a classic whippet outline, moderate bone and good tuck up. Broad across her well-muscled thighs. Excellent close coat. Moved well. 3. Chappell’s Blueflight Sun Warrior.
