Cheshire Agricultural Society

Royal Cheshire County Show 17th & 18th June 2025 – Puppy Groups, Best Puppy In Show, AV Special Beginners and Best Special Beginners In Show

It was indeed a great pleasure to return to this extremely well organized and friendly Premier Open Show, run by a very capable Committee offering great hospitality.

A.V.Gundog Special Beginners

1. Macfarlane’s Irish Setter, Harelferg New Tricks For Umfrido, 4 ½ year old dog with a nice masculine head, dark eye and soft expression. Good neck, chest & front, Lovely topline and well angulated hind quarters. Moved well.

2. Bayliss’ Spaniel (Cocker), I Will Be In The Morning Light (Imp Hun). 9-month-old blue roan bitch having a sweet feminine head, good neck, chest and front with ample bone, good body for age, sound hind movement. Well presented.

3. Fourjays Sassy Said It All (Labrador).

A.V. Hound Special Beginners

1. Parkinson’s Whippet, Groomsville Hologem Heavens Dream. Very feminine sporting a correct head, with good eye colour, nice neck flowing into great shoulders with good return of upper arm. Very well balanced having a good size with smooth curves and correct angulations. Sound mover showing reach and drive in profile. Very well presented. (Reserve Best A.V. Special Beginners in Show).

2. May’s Dachshund (Min Long Haired), Scrumptious Red On The Dot JW. Quality 12-month-old red boy of correct size with a nice head and correct expression, dark eye and strong underjaw. Ample length of neck. Nice feet and good bone, correct front and rear angulations. Good movement with drive and extension.

3. Ivytower Excalibur (Beagle).

A.V. Terrier Special Beginners

1. Bowman’s S.B.T, Sikaistaff All of Me at Kamiflo. So feminine with a quality head, powerful jaw, well carried ears, shapely body, appealing overall balance, active and agile of correct height, excellent substance and a very good rear end, so true coming & going.

2. Simpson’s Skye Terrier, Tiny Winne Argon Targaryen (Imp Swe), Presented a good outline with his pleasing yet masculine head, good earset, lovely neck and shoulders and correct topline. Decent forehand. Good deep oval ribcage and short loins and strong well-muscled hindquarters which he used well on his effortless movement.

3. Lemajac Billy The Kid (Smooth Fox Terrier).

A.V. Pastoral Special Beginners

1. Clough’s Shetland Sheepdog, Evad Lite Breeze. Sable dog sporting a lovely head, super eye shape and colour giving a melting expression, well set and carried ears, correct transition from skull into muzzle, having a clean neck & shoulder, ample bone, well fittied coat. Correct tail carriage and a graceful movement covering a lot of ground with so little effort.

2. Hulse’s Welsh Corgi (Pembroke), Babaneira Kensington at Fablecroft. Lovely dog, with a strong masculine head having correct ear placements,nice feet withplenty of bone, so balanced and full of substance. Excellent outline which he retains on the move.

3. Calareto All My Loving JW (Border Collie).

A.V. Working Special Beginners

1. Scott’s Newfoundland, Sandbears Aerodynamic. Beautifully presented, handsome dog sporting a good-sized skull, clean eyes, good muzzle and dentition. Good depth and breadth of chest. Firm topline with well-muscled loins. Strong, strongly made hindquarters. Beautifully presented in a dense, double coat. Moved well with a powerful, easy action. Later awarding him Best Special Beginners in Show.

2. Tasker & Molloy’s Great Dane, Newarthdane Mars. well-proportioned dog with a beautiful masculine head and a good depth of muzzle. Clean, well arched neck, good shoulders with enough depth of chest Good top line, ample bone, well-angulated hindquarters and moving off well.

3. Sacaria's Blues (Dobermann).

A.V. Utility Special Beginners

1. Downes’ Std Poodle, Royaldeniz Superwolverine JW. So much to like in this dog and good to go over. Presenting a well-balanced outline with neck of good length, short back which I would have preferred a little longer for him to cover more ground, deep chest, lovely rib and tail set on correctly. Masculine head with moderate stop, nice dark eye and leathers set on low. Sound mover.

2. Moorcroft’s Miniature Schnauzer, Amorevita Uranus JW. Very smart and balanced boy. Sporting a clean outline, so sturdy and robust. Masculine head of good length, clean forehead with correct stop with well-placed and shaped ears. Correctly shaped and coloured eyes which gives out that intelligent expression. Robust body with well sprung ribs. Free mover, with good reach and driving power.

3. Poornima Im On My Way (Min.Poodle).

A.V. Toy Special Beginners

1. Burnett’s Bichon Frise, Wolimorb When Stars Align. Well-balanced dog, having a lovely head with correct proportions, dark round eyes, good pigment, arched neck and good shoulders, firm body with good loin. Very stylish and accurate on the move. Nicely presented with a correct coat texture.

2. Edwards’ Papillon, Lastayla Playful Pongo. Lovely head and eye, excellent ears & a very good expression. Correct shoulders, needs to strengthen in front. Firm topline, moved well.

3. Applebroad Pink Lady (C.K.C.S).

Gundog Puppy Group

1. Hodge’s Labrador Retriever, Naiken Island Hopping (ai). Loved this dog for his balanced body and correct angulations fore and aft. Very well made. Well-balanced head, although I would prefer a slightly darker eye to complete the picture. Strong neck, well-sprung barrel ribs giving plenty of heart room. Firm topline, excellent tail set and typical tail. Standing fore square on good bone and neat feet. Well muscled hind quarters with the correct second thigh. Moved true and showed steadily.

2. Donovan’s Gordon Setter, Amscot Angel On Fire. Masculine head, excellent neck and shoulder and correct topline. Balanced body, which really appealed to me, with plenty of ribbing and depth. Very well presented, very sound mover.

3. Elgert Blackpink (Field Spaniel).

4. Flatcharm Regina Phalange (Flatcoated Retriever).

Hound Puppy Group

1. Garlick’s Dachshund Long Haired, Ranglewood Andromeda. So full of quality and promise. Beautiful feminine head with dark eyes giving a melting, appealing expression. Long muscular neck that flows into a well-constructed front assembly, lovely feet with correct bone. Deep chest and prominent breastbone. Correct topline leading to a well-set and carried tail. Loved her hindquarters, which she used to her advantage on the move.

2. Pearce’s Rhodesian Ridgeback, Kinyemi Song of Serengeti Sepiwi Sekayi for Msingi (Imp Dnk). Very well-built dog so balanced and having the right proportions. Head demonstrating strength with a long and deep muzzle, correct eye colour giving an intelligent expression. Correct length of neck, with well placed shoulder and a strong top line held that he held throughout, lovely front & rear assemblies, excellent bone and very pleasing on the move.

3. Pearson’s Basset Hound, Amazing White A Story with A Tail at Armardio (Imp Nld).

4. Barlaine Midsummer Magic. (Min.LH Dachshund).

Terrier Puppy Group

1. Gee’s Norfolk Terrier, Watercroft Time Flies. Lovely dog having a well-balanced head, bright, keen twinkling eyes oozing a melting expression. Strong neck and well-laid shoulders that allowed him to have plenty of reach. Lovely, straight front with tight elbows and a good spring of rib. Rear quarters are powerful with a good bend of stifle and strong hocks which enabled him to move around with a powerful drive.

2. Well’s SBT, Wellsstaffs Young Warrior. Nice dog maturing very nicely for age, not overdone in any way, having a nice, masculine head, a well shaped dark round eye and the neatest of ears. Well boned front, so straight with neat well-padded feet. Short back level top line both standing and on the move, loved his strong rear quarters, having a good bend of stifle and well-let down hocks. Correctly set thin pump handle tail which he carried well when on the move.

Pastoral Puppy Group

1. Irving’s Welsh Corgi (Cardigan), Twinan True Grit. 9-month-old brindle and white dog, having an attractive well-proportioned masculine head and typical expression. Well-set ears which he used to advantage. Good length of neck and well-angulated front and rear assemblies. Excellent bone and round feet. Nice chest and deep brisket for age. Correct level topline held on the move, good tail set. Moved with purpose round the ring. Later awarding him Reserve Best Puppy In Show.

2. Hateley’s Shetland Sheepdog, Mohnesee The Charm Master. - Quality 11-month-old sable male presenting a lovely picture in full coat, gorgeous head with a flat skull with correct stop, dark eyes and correct ear shape that gives the desired expression, correct front and feet, nice arched neck and length of back, good length of tail, nice fluid movement. Very well-balanced dog.

3. Highashes Hits The Spot (Welsh Corgi).

4. Kiltondale Johnny Cash at Jellwell (Bearded Collie).

Working Puppy Group

1. Webb’s Doberman, Shalissa’s Into The Shallow. Nice young bitch, very elegant and full of substance for age, good length in head, good eye and ear placement, excellent angulated in front and rear, nice front and feet, liked her forechest and slightly sloping topline, well-constructed hindquarters, excellent sound movement.

2. Johnson’s Boxer, Sashbob Miss’d Meana. Very smart attractive girl with a nice feminine head, lovely dark expressive eyes of correct shape and colour, neat ears correctly set. Strong straight front legs with neat feet, arched neck and well-laid shoulders. She was presented in a smart outline, well developed chest and good rear quarters. Moved well.

3. Starnewf Mr Dark Sky (Newfoundland).

4. Peixinho Caput Draconis (Portuguese Water Dog).

Utility Puppy Group

1. Timm’s French Bulldog, Olijah Going in Deep. Super type, so well-balanced and full of promise. This dog excelled in all departments, loved his head, being broad and square with great width of muzzle which is well padded and excellent sweep of jaw. Dark round eyes giving a soft, yet masculine expression. Correctly shaped and set ears, thick arched neck, lovely body shape with well sprung ribs, short coupled and a gentle roach. Strong muscular thighs and well-let down hocks. Excellent free flowing movement. Top drawer stuff, definitely one to watch in the future. No hesitation in awarding this young star Best Puppy In Show later in the day.

2. Dunhill-Hall’s Japanese Shiba Inu, Vormund Bang for Your Buck NAF TAF. One cannot simply ignore the head and expression of this dog, with well-shaped eyes and good ear set and carriage that gives out that alert and keen expression. Muscular, slightly arched neck. Well bodied for age with good depth of chest and a short loin. In good coat, so sound and typical on the move and handled to perfection.

4. Wildax She’s A Show Girl (Boston Terrier).

Toy Puppy Group

1. Chau’s Italian Greyhound, Amore Dreaming in Firenze at Sfizimio (Imp Usa), Simply gorgeous, so elegant adorned with graceful lines all over. Loved her head ratios, so clean in muzzle and jaw, bright expressive eyes and correctly shaped ears. So balanced in bone, front and rear angulations. Long elegant neck and a correct topline and underline. Moved so well in the puppy group but unfortunately underperformed in the BPIS, I am sure it was a long day for her. I am sure she will do well in the future.

2. Taylor’s Chihuahua Smooth Coat, Arkoschi Don't Stop Me Now. Another little cracker in this group. 9-month-old dog with a super head and expression, so full of virtues and also full of attitude. Impressive when standing, presenting a nice, balanced outline with matching front and rear angulations, pressed hard for the top spot today and I would swap places anytime, should do well in the future.

3. Smith’s Pomeranian, Sueacres Catch A Dream.

4. Shennan’s Affenpinscher, Ashiblack King of Swing.
