Evesham & District Canine Society – Sunday 13th July 2025
It was an honour to be part of the 75th Anniversary Open Show. I sincerely thank the Officers and Committee for asking me to judge, and the exhibitors that attended this special event. Also, I’m grateful to my stewards Emma Mathews and Graham Stirk for running the ring like clockwork on this very hot day.
Spaniel (American Cocker)
Special Yearling (1,0a): 1, Caunce’s Yankeetank Ladytron; a year a two-month-old black & tan bitch. Head of correct proportion. Lovely dark eyes. Strong neck good for picking up while working. Moved with purpose.
Limit (5,3a): 1, Niessen’s Little Life Zimply Champagne (Imp Fin); 20-month-old cream coloured bitch. A lovely overall picture of an American cocker, currently in her silky ballgown, but tomorrow is muscular enough and would be ready for work. The correct gently sloping topline. Pleasant head and well set and well clothed silky ears. Moved well and happily with plenty of drive and presence owning the ring on this very hot day. BOB. I was thrilled later on to find my Best of Breed to be awarded Gundog Group 4 under John Newsman.
2, Caunce’s Yankeetank The Gondolier; a year a two-month-old litter sibling to 1st in Special Yearling. Soild Coloured Black Dog. Nicely chiselled head a masculine version of his sisters. Long muscular neck, well boned overall. Covered the ground effortlessly. It was tough to choose between these siblings when competing for the reserve. RBOB.
3, Woolley’s Partisky Rock Parti at Challeymead
Open (3,3a)
Spaniel (Cocker)
Special Yearling (6,0a): 1, Leslie’s Ferrersedge Shilling JW; two-year-old Blue Roan dog. An outline of a very compact upstanding boy. Lovely head with very kind expression, ear leathers of good length. Coat of good texture with a nice amount of feathering. Moved freely with drive and purpose, holding his topline on the move. BOB.
2, Gregory’s Babtonkelpie Trolley Dolly; nine and half month-old Blue Roan Bitch. Mature for age. Compact and square. Correct scissor bite. A very well chiselled and endearing head and expression that is kind and can pierce your soul. BPIB.
3, Whitehead’s Ryallcourt Grand Slam (AI).
Limit (2,0a): 1, Harvey’s Tomerine La Dolca Vita; two & a half year old black bitch. Petite compact yet build and muscled. Nice will chiselled head, dark eyes with endearing kind expression. Scissor bite. Level topline that was maintained on the move.
2, Sadler’s Tortonvillas Tinklebell; three & a half year old black and tan bitch. Another nicely made bitch, but currently lacking in muscle compared to 1. Well build chest giving plenty of heart room. Level toppling, happy on the move.
Open (2,0a): 1, Harvey’s Tomerine Fact or Fable; two and half year-old black male. Compact and square in profile. Well-built and muscled, could happily do a day’s work and not think much about it. Good length of neck cleanly let into well laid shoulders. Nice head, correct ear set and dark eye with kind expression. RBOB.
2, Whitehead’s Ryallcourt Grand Slam (AI); One year old Dog, black with white ticking of silky texture and good feathering. Mature for age and well put together, good strong bone. Nice happy tail action, set off with drive and maintained a solid straight topline.
Spaniel (Field)
Puppy (2,1a): 1, Nadavin Aleana Gyda Cochen; nine-month-old bitch. A mischief maker of the first degree, very much enjoying her day out and causing her handler grey hairs. Once moved and settled down a wee bit could assess better. A pleasant and sweet temperament on first impressions. Still quite a baby but is developing well. A well chiselled head and good ear set. Strong flat boned front legs and not a sign of going down on her pasterns at all. Well laid shoulders, and well-muscled for age. Good length of rib with straight topline leading to a very active tail. BPIB.
Special Yearling (3,1a): 1, Stone’s Sonnetend Made You Look; one year old liver bitch. A nicely maturing girl. Nice head with chiselling, correct ear set, prominent occiput, long strong neck. Lovely shiny coat, a wee bit lacking in feathering right now, but still maturing. Was steady on the move with straight topline and correct tail carriage.
2, Adams’ & Lewis’ Sonnetend Tailor Made for Irisbel; one year old black bitch. I’m now in the knowledge that 1&2 are litter siblings. A wee bit of a finer bitch than her sister. Couldn’t assess by hands on, but we’ll put it down to being a hot day. Moved with drive, straight topline. Coat looks silky, like 1 at this point in time lacking feathering.
Limit (6,4a): 1, Harding’s Kingsmist Remember Me JW; three-year-old liver dog with a very masculine head well chiselled and quite a noble expression. Good length of rib and strong loin. Excellently muscled and could complete a day of work in a heartbeat. Moved very well freely and easily with drive. Straight topline held on the move with correct tail carriage. RBIB.
2, Houseman’s Flyenpyg First Sight; four and half year-old dog. A smaller framed boy than 1. Kind and friendly expression. Plenty of feathering. Good Breadth of chest and length of rib.
Open (3,0a): 1, Harding’s Kingsmist The Black Knight; five-year-old dog. Another very masculine, well-built, strongly boned boy. Lovely head, correct stop, well chiselled, with a noble presence, dark eye with gentle and intelligent expression. Correct ear set and good leather length. Good depth of chest, well laid shoulders and ribs go well back. Another well-muscled boy, helping him to move freely and with drive, holding topline on the move. BOB. I was really pleased later on to find out this boy gained Gundog group 2 under John Newsman.
2, Shipton’s Bel Ch Broomeece Fire Cracker over Mishules BW24; five and half year-old dog. Nicely chiselled head leading to clean neck, held well above back. Strongly boned. Coat of silky texture with good amount of feathering.
3, Heartwood Mishules All is Possible with Calico (imp USA) JW BW24; two-year-old bitch

Special Yearling (17, 8a): 1, Gibson’s Delphox Guiser; Twenty-one-month-old Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever dog. Orange double coat with white markings. Lovely wedge of head, Kind eye and expression but with alertness. Ear well set and with the typical triangular shape drop. Strong neck and good amount of muscle.

Limit (4, 3a): 1, Russell’s Fraulynzway Lightning Bolt JW; three-year-old German Shorthaired pointer dog. In my notes is written ‘Amazing boy’. Shown if firm muscled powerhouse condition. Masculine head, yet a graceful outline of angles. Deep Chest, well laid shoulders, firm topline and tucked up loin. Moved with ease covering ground with good reach and drive.
Open (3, 1a): 1, Pearman’s Weipowa Denton at Britmans; Five-and-a-half-year-old Weimaraner Dog. A strong looking boy with great presence. Good amount of bone yet not coarse. Masculine head with light yet kind eye. Prominent Occiput. Moved freely with grace yet covered ground quickly.
