Falkirk & District Canine Society Open Show 6th July 2025

My thanks to the Society for inviting me to judge at this well organised show, to the stewards for organising the ring so efficiently and to the exhibitors for their entries. I thoroughly enjoyed my day and was spoilt for choice with some close decisions for the In Show awards.

PG (5,3) 1st Black & Black’s Young & Smart Tai Laurus To Zaandam (Imp LTU) A young dog who appeals for his size & compact shape. Lovely head & foxy expression, fine in muzzle, dark oval eyes & well set & used small ears. Short neck, well laid shoulders & level topline. Neat cat feet. High set tail is feathered & correctly carried. Harsh coat in excellent condition, he moved briskly around the ring to take BOB

2nd McAlpine’s Altina Wouldn’t It Be Lovely Head is feminine with small ears & dark eyes. Muzzle is fine. Straight front, neat feet. Deep chest & level topline to high set tail. In good coat. Preferred the movement of 1st

O (4,1) 1st Black & Black’s Verona Tai Lauras To Zaandam JW (Imp LTU) Cobby body giving a compact outline, plenty of rib, Short neck, topline is level to high set tail. Straight front to tight feet. Head has fine muzzle, dark well set eyes & small neat ears, foxy expression. Sound & brisk on the move, she was presented in lovely coat & condition.

2nd Ogilvie’s Altina’s Hint Of Brooklyn Foxy expression on this feminine dainty B from her dark eyes & well set ears. Muzzle is fine. Level topline & high set tail. Well presented coat. I preferred front of winner. Moved well.

3rd Black & Black’s Zaandam Gift Of Gemini

O (7,3) 1st Johnston’s Routenburn Freydis Gold & white B with feminine expression, pleasing eye, correct stop, ears set high enough. Of good size, pleases for type & balance. Straight front, well laid shoulders, decent feet. Topline level to high set tail that is correctly carried. Well muscled rear quarters, moved well. Presented in good coat. BOB

2nd Morris’ Boshanti Viola 9 month old puppy that held her own in this class. Shoulders well angulated, straight front. Level topline that she held on the move, muscled rearquarters that drove her around the ring.

G (1,0) 1st Coughtrie, Hendry & Paterson’s Jazpiper I Am Maximus JW D of good type, dark mask, muzzle is blunt & padded. Dark eyes, ears set high enough. Level topline, plenty of rib. Tail high set & carried over his back. Well presented. Moved well

O (3,0) 1st Coughtrie’s Jazpiper Starlight Express Mature male who pleases for type & outline. Masculine expression, domed skull, well set ears, blunt muzzle, dark eyes . Slight bow to front legs, level topline to high set tail which he carried correctly. Hare feet. Excellent coat & condition. Sound movement earned him BOB

2nd Coughtrie, Hendry & Paterson’s Tulibell Pure Intentions For Jazpiper Feminine head with black mask, blunt muzzle & dark eyes. Enough bone all through, level topline. Tidy feet. Tail correctly set & carried. Movement OK once settled.

O (1,0) 1st Pope-Smith & Smith’s Shidizzle Bryamzy Sue At Maskeen Gold & white B presents a nice picture stacked, correct outline. Head is round with a wide muzzle. Round dark eyes, well set ears. Arched neck, broad chest & level topline, well angulated front & rear. Moved out well showing pads BOB

G (1,0) 1st Logan’s Spyanki Eobard Thawne JW D with substance & appealing shape. Decent chest, straight front & strong level topline. Dark, oval eyes, enough stop, well pigmented. Round feet, well angulated front & rear. Tail set high & correctly carried. Sound mover

O (3,0) 1st Maxwell & Chalmer’s Jodak’s Dance Party At Aintshe JW Glamourous B, balanced in outline, firm topline, tail correctly set & carried over. Arched neck & sturdy body. Feminine expression, correct head proportions, dark pigment & eyes. Well angulated front & rear. Decent length of rib. Coat in lovely condition & well presented. Sound mover. BOB & G3

2nd Logan’s Spyanki Impulse JW This dog appealed for shape with correct outline, well carried tail, straight in front. Dark eyes, decent muzzle length & dark pigment. He moved well & I preferred his movement to that of his litter sister

PG (1,0) 1st Parker’s Peeddiepies Heidi Fara Typical in head with an appealing feminine expression & well marked. Dark eyes & well placed ears. Straight in front with enough chest. Tail is well set & carried. Enough bone all through & moved well.

O (2,0) 1st Gate’s Ch Winklestar Alsephina Via Lacetrom One I have judged previously when a youngster & she has matured well. Feminine all though, compact outline. Her head is well marked & wedge shaped, small correctly set ears & dark eyes, alert expression. Straight in front, ample neck, well laid shoulders, straight front & neat feet. Short back to high set curled tail & muscled rear. Well presented in harsh coat. Brisk mover, BOB G1, a contender in the BIS ring

2nd Gate’s Winklestar Alnair Via Lacetrom Litter brother to first that I have also judged previously. He too has an appealing expression & correct head proportions. Ears of correct size & set, dark eyes, well marked. Short back, correct tail. Profuse coat of good texture. Moved well when he decided to co-operate

O (5,1) 1st Gibson’s Ch Kireina Beautiful Dreamer At Kaiaki JW Typy mature B with a feminine expression. Wedge shaped head with enough stop, eyes dark & correct shape, neat ears. Arched neck, straight front, deep chest, level topline to high set tail. Tight feet. Presented in plenty of good quality coat. Sound & smart on the move. BOB

2nd McPhee’s Glamglow’s Blushing Bride For Maihimekai Pretty feminine head with dark eyes & small ears. Well boned, straight front & small feet. Tail high set & well carried. Well presented coat. Close up to 1st, I preferred the front movement of the winner.

O (1,0) 1st Luckman’s Albionspitz Revel Pleases for type & of good size with masculine wedge shaped head. Enough stop, dark eyes, ears well set he has a pleasing expression. Straight front to neat feet, I would prefer more width to chest. Strong topline with long loin. High set tail. Sound mover. BOB

O (2,0) 1st McConaghy’s Melafella Miss Behave At Bahooke Well proportioned 9 month old B. Head has width, big open nostrils, enough stop, fine wrinkling. Muzzle short & turned up. Dark eyes, ears correctly set. Chest could develop more, arch to topline. Good length of tail that was low set. Plenty of bone all through. Typical roll on the move. BOB

2nd Gilmour’s Sandars Mr Rubble Masculine head & expression, wide skull, open nostrils. Well defined cheeks. Ears could be neater. Dark round eyes. Chest is wide, short back. Moved well. I felt that he was carrying too much body.

O (6,3) 1st Todd’s Ch Witchgait Toasted Cheese JW ShCEx OSW Shar Pei Typical head not overdone in any way, enough wrinkle, dark clean eyes, plenty of padding to muzzle & small, neat ears. Well pigmented. Chest is deep with enough width. Strong neck, well laid shoulders, high set tail. So well presented & a smart mover. BAVNSC Group 2

2nd Dewcroft’s Joubello Heaven Sent (Dalmatian) An attractive youngster still with some maturing to do. Masculine head, long neck, laid back shoulders. Tight feet. Well muscled rearquarters which drove him around the ring.

1st McGuire’s Tatalena Supersonic (Min Poodle) Small apricot B of 7 months. Lean head with feminine expression, dark eyes & pigment. Low set ears. Chest developing, well laid shoulders, needs to strengthen in front. Tail is well set & carried. Has plenty of coat for her age, a little more trimming would enhance her shape. Gave her handler a hard time on the move, settled more later in the day. A promising puppy

2nd Hogg & Armstrong’s Colji’s Blackout Betty (Tibetan Terrier) Pretty head with dark eyes & well set ears. Straight front, decent feet. Level topline to correctly set tail. Presented in good coat. Wouldn’t settle on the move.

Head is small with slightly domed skull, dark eyes & well set ears. Full dentition & teeth are clean. Body slightly long, bow to front legs, hare feet. High tail set. Moved well, a well deserved BVIS

BIS Moyes, Shaw & Hunter-Ryan’s Bryelis Oops I Lost My Halo (Chinese Crested) An eye catching 14m old B that didn’t stop showing. Appealing feminine head with large low set ears & very dark eyes. Presented in wonderful condition. She looked beautiful stacked & flowed around the ring on the move. I loved her and was delighted to award her BIS in a strong line up.

RBIS Duff’s Ir Ch Titanbears Vainglorious JW ShCEx OSW (Newfoundland) Impressive & powerful D with broad head, dark eyes. Tight feet. A slight roll when moving, he drove around the ring holding his topline at all times. A worthy RBIS

BMPIS Buchanan & Maclaren’s Tarmachan Mac Talla (GBGV) A well grown & balanced D with a domed head, wide open nostrils, dark eyes & long ears. Straight in front, big feet. Impressed on the move.

BPIS Nicol’s Celmarev Go The Distance D (Scottish Terrier) Almost 12 months old, typy D presented in good coat & condition. Appealing head & outline. Sound on the move holding his topline.
