Breed: Best in Show

My thanks to the hard working committee for the invitation to judge at this friendly show & to Mandy and Peter my stewards, I thoroughly enjoyed the day. I had the pleasure of judging the ‘in show’ awards & had some quality dogs to assess.

BIS Barrell’s Chanikos My Mystery Dream Via Javerda (Shih Tzu) Eye catching dog with balanced outline. Head is broad, dark eyes are round. Deep chest, level topline. Tail carried correctly. His coat was presented in wonderful condition. Sound on the move with reach & drive showing his pads. Handled to show off his virtues. It was a pleasure to award him BIS

RBIS Morley’s Trijem Double Dash of Magic (Australian Shepherd) Typey young blue merle dog of 12 months. Masculine head, well laid shoulders & strong topline. Straight front to neat feet, chest developing well. Enough bone all through. Angulated rear quarters drove him around the ring.

BPIS House & Hinchcliffe’s Cloudside Soul Prince For Jodak (Afghan Hound) 11 months old quality puppy. Balanced in outline with correct front & rear angulation, long neck. Level topline, short loin, ring tail. Pleasing head & expression with dark eye. Plenty of coat for a youngster. Sound & stylish on the move. A star in the making.

RBPIS Gauron & Viner’s Javladare Heart Goes Boom (Rottweiler) 12 months on the day & quite mature for his age. Broad head with masculine expression. Strong neck, well laid shoulders. Chest has depth & width. Round feet. Handled to advantage, he moved out well.

BVIS Taylor, Wells & Yuille’s Ch Lafitte De Moorstile Chez Sheldridge (Imp FRA) JW (Shetland Sheepdog) Such an appealing dog of 9 years old, doesn’t look his age at all. So typey with a beautiful head, a soft expression & correct proportions, ears well set & used at all times. He looked the part stacked being of balanced shape. Well presented in full coat. A sound mover in all directions.

RBVIS Wilson’s Hameldowntor Music Of The Night VW (Retriever (Flat Coated)) A very happy 9 year old bitch, she also doesn’t look her age. Long head with feminine expression, dark eyes & ears well set. Long neck, well angulated front. Level topline. Her well muscled rear enabled her to move freely & her tail never stopped wagging.

AV Joan Barker Puppy Stakes (18, 12)

1st Blahuta’s Conor Dreamed A Dream taf (Lhasa Apso) 7 months old & lots of maturing still to do. He is in good coat for his age & was well presented. Masculine head with dark eyes, low set ears, dark pigment. Strong neck, laid back shoulders, level topline to high set tail which is correctly carried. Has enough length to body. Neat feet. Steady on the move, needs to tighten up all round.

2nd Morley & Braizer’s Dizzy Marble Crown Prince (Imp UKR) (Australian Shepherd) 9 months old tri coloured dog with balanced outline. Masculine head, well set ears, he has a pleasing expression. Well made body & enough bone all through. Enthusiastic on the move although a touch close in front.

3rd Collings’ Aylesmead Blu Rose At Colmandakev (Spaniel (Cocker))

The Locksmith’s Memorial Open Stakes (17,12)

1st Collett’s Velrok Ringing Gold JW (Tibetan Spaniel) Mature 3 year old balanced dog of nice size with small head & appealing expression from his domed skull, oval eyes & high set ears. Blunt cushioned muzzle & enough chin. Correct angulation front & rear, well sprung ribs & level topline to high set tail. Correct harefeet. In very good coat & body condition. Positive mover.

2nd Goddard’s Eveshar You’ve Had Enough (Miniature Schnauzer) Smart dog that was beautifully presented to show off his virtues. Strong head with dark eyes & high set ears. Slight arch to neck, well laid shoulders, deep chest. Strong topline to high set tail. Harsh coat. Moved well.

3rd Moore’s Probert Calypso (Basset Griffon Vendeen (Petit))

AV Bred By Exhibitor (9,4)

1st Stevenson’s Shenleyvale Fifty Shades Of Orange (Shih Tzu) Round broad head with dark eyes & short wide muzzle. Masculine expression. Arched neck, well laid back shoulders, broad in chest with level topline. Tail high set & correctly carried. Rear well muscled giving plenty of drive on the move & he showed his pads.

2nd Nevison’s Bikquest Envy Blazingstar (Rhodesian Ridgeback) At only 7 months old, she moved liked the baby she is needing to tighten all through. Dark coloured, she is balanced in shape & needs to fill her frame. Enough length to skull, round eyes & high set ears. Deep chest, strong topline to curved tail.

3rd Bevis’ Beabeardies Cinnamon Girl (Bearded Collie)

AV Not Bred By Exhibitor (9,5)

1st Collings’ Chativore Sea Pebble at Colmandakev (Cocker Spaniel) Square in outline & balanced. Feminine head with low set ears & dark eyes. Enough neck, straight front to tight feet, plenty of chest. Rear is well muscled & angulated. Level topline to low set tail. Moved out with drive & presented in good coat. I felt that she was carrying a little too much weight on the day.

2nd Moore’s Probert Calypso (Basset Griffon Vendeen (Petit)) Built on fine lines she has a feminine expression from her large dark eyes & low set ears. Balanced outline, I would prefer better front assembly. Long neck, deep chest & muscled rear. Feet marred by overlong nails. Rough coat. Moved out with rear drive & correctly carried tail.

3rd Collings’ Aylesmead Blu Rose At Colmandakev (Cocker Spaniel)
