Annandale Canine Society

Breed: Retriever (Labrador)

It was truly an honour to judge at this show, for a club I have supported as an exhibitor for many years. Thank you so much to the hard-working committee for inviting me to judge and for their wonderful, welcoming hospitality. I thoroughly enjoyed my day. Thank you to both my efficient stewards and to all who entered. This is a very well-run show at an ideal venue, conveniently situated, with good sized rings and a friendly atmosphere.

LABRADORS

Puppy - no entries

Junior (1,1)

Post Graduate (2,0)

1st Cook’s & Thompson’s Exelby Emrys – 20 month old, strong, very balanced yellow dog who caught my attention. Very pleasing to the eye. Broad, masculine head and kind expression, strong neck into well placed shoulders, equal length of leg of depth of body, good bone and feet, barrel ribs, shorted coupled, level top line, good turn of stifle and rear angulation, lovely tail and tail set. Correct double coat. Generally very distracted in this class and in the challenge but once settled moved true in front and rear.

Limit – no entries

Open (3,1)

1st Parker’s Bruadarach Baile Eilidh – 4 year old chocolate bitch who has matured nicely since I last judged her. Broad feminine head and lovely expression, pleasing outline, balanced front and rear quarters, strong neck into well placed shoulders, equal length of leg to depth of body, good bone, barrel ribs, short coupled, level top line, good turn of stifle and rear angulation, good tail set, correct double coat in very good condition. Moved straight and true in front and rear, with drive and purpose around the ring. BOB

2nd Cook’s Exelby Norman – 26 month old black dog of nice type. Broad masculine head and kind expression, balanced front and rear quarters, strong next into well placed shoulders, equal length of leg to depth of body, good bone, barrel ribs, short coupled, level top line, good turn of stifle and rear angulation, good tail set, correct double coat. Moved true in front and rear. Just preferred the coat and movement of 1.
