Breed: Beagle

Beagles

I would just like to say thank you to all those who entered their Beagles under me as I was truly blown away by the entry. I had some very tough decisions to make on the day as on any other day I could have easily swapped my placings around or could have awarded equal placings but sadly wasn’t able to do that. One standout for me was the veteran bitch Rossut Damsel who placed 3rd in Open who was at her first show in 6 yrs and what a picture she presented. At 10 yrs old her movement was just superb, and she lit up the ring showing exactly what a merry hound a Beagle is. An absolute pleasure to watch her on the move and it was a hard decision not to give her the win based on movement alone, but I am sure with some more practice to get her back in show mode the placings could be very different next time around.

PUPPY (2,0)

1st – Miller’s AlkiaBeau Golden Girl

Lovely 7mth old Tan & White bitch. She has a very correct head with dark pigment leading into a good length of neck and currently angled shoulders. Proportions throughout were correct in fact as she has a very good front with her legs set back under her, level topline with excellent hock angulation. Her movement is free and ground covering though I would just say at this stage she is carrying a bit too much condition which was causing her to widen slightly in front.

2nd – Oak’s Michelroy Boston Tea Party by Floridgebay

7mth old very dark blanket Tricolour bitch. Different mould to the winner as she is a bigger girl and a lot rangier in shape and so will take longer to mature into herself. Nice head with low set ears and dark pigment, unfortunately she has a slight overbite which is incorrect but could possibly correct in time as she matures and develops as she is only young. Level topline into correct tail set with free straight movement.

POST GRADUATE (7,1)

1st – Murphy’s Bayard Seal of Approval at Rhosyndu JW

20mth old male blanket Tricolour. One I have had the pleasure to judge before, and he is maturing into the stallion hound I felt he would previously. He possesses a masculine head whilst retaining the melting expression. Good length of neck into strong level topline. His shoulders are well laid whilst also having depth of chest and balance with good angulation. Movement is free and ground covering. Pleased to award BOB and see him go on to take HG3.

2nd – Clarismore Winter Luxury

One I judged before as a puppy she is now just over 2yrs old. Smart broken Tricolour bitch with a lovely head with correct dark eye leading into a good length of neck. Sufficient depth of chest and good front leading into excellent ribbing, all giving decent balance. Good hind angulation. Movement a bit close behind at times however she was playing up for her handler and so this won’t have helped. Maturing well.

LIMIT (5,1)

1st – Giles-Wyatt’s Clarismore Crown Prince

2yr old dark blanket Tricolour male. Another that I saw before as a very young puppy, and I am pleased at how he has matured. He is all male whilst having no coarseness at all. Excellent dark pigment he has a lovely length of neck leading into a very strong and solid topline. Very good front which is placed nicely under him showing off a good fore chest and ribs extending back nicely. Very good hind angulation and well-muscled and his stern always carried well.

2nd – Sutton’s Rossut Freckles

14mth old Tricolour bitch. This girl has the most beautiful of heads with the perfect melting expression to draw you right in. Her head is just perfectly balanced with correctly set ears. Neck could be a fraction longer, but it is in balance, and she has a super front assembly with ribs extending back correctly and good hind angulation and tight cat like feet. She’s carrying a shade too much condition at present which makes her look a little front heavy at present but overall, a super quality bitch who really started to relax and stride out in her movement. A lot still to come here.

OPEN (6,1)

1st – Scarlett’s Vanitonia Enchanted Over Michelroy

Attractive 2yr old Tricolour bitch who is very well balanced throughout creating an overall elegant, athletic picture. Feminine head into elegant neck, everything flowed well into itself. She has a very good front, excellent level topline and good rear angulation. Her chest is well let down, with the ribbing extending back correctly. Very good tight feet and she used herself well, moving freely. It was a tough decision in the challenge between her and the dog and on another day, they would I am sure, trade places. RBOB

2nd – Murphy’s Felinoak Gossip at Rhosyndu (AI)

Ultra feminine 22mth old blanket Tricolour bitch. She has a good head with low set ears into an elegant neck. Good level topline with enough ribbing extending back. Angulation front and back is good and she uses her body throughout to move with clear athleticism and nice tight feet. To be hypercritical I would like to see more bone to her all over as she is of a finer mould however she is balanced and moderate in the package she is in as well.
