Royal Cheshire Show 17th June 2025 held at Tabley, Knutsford. Cheshire

It was a lovely day, with glorious sunshine and plenty of tent coverage for all. Getting on site and parking was the same as always, going through the one-way system. My thanks to all the exhibitors for their entries and to the society for making me welcome. Judge Janet Kay (Kaytian)

My day started with Basset Griffon Vendeen (Grand) O. 1. Bailey & Yates – Wilmit Mairabelle For Boneveon – at 20months this girl is developing well with a feminine head that had a clean stop and square muzzle, her ears were fine with an inwards fold and large dark eyes. Her neck was long and strong with a firm topline and well-muscled loin. Her feet were large with strong nails, and her tail carried high with a slight curve; on the move, she drove with power and freedom which won her BoB. 2. Bailey & Yates - Ch/IR Ch Tarmachan Ice Cool VW – This mature boy was full of breed type and masculinity. From his domed head and dark eyes, his ears reached well forward and were covered with long hair. His bone was plentiful and large feet to move. I like the youth and enthusiasm of the bitch today.

Basset Griffon Vendeen (Petit) – L. 1. Moore – Probert Calypso – Happy girl and willing to please. Noted well-defined occipital bone, she had a soft, feminine expression from darkest of eyes finishing her head with a big black nose and wide-open nostrils. Her chest had depth, and her ribs had a moderate spring to them with strength in loin. She moved with a light, reaching action. 2. Townsend - Overbeck's Esme Shelby at Roxastan – She was happy and alert, taking in her surroundings. She did not have the bone and substance of 1 and slightly longer cast. She had a lovely wire coat and was well furnished throughout. Her depth of chest was good, and ribbing was in keeping; her tail was set high with a strong root. O. 1. Townsend – Afterglow Curtain Call AVEC Roxastan – This boy had been neutered, which affected his coat texture. He was masculine and well-built with ample bone and a good measure of muscling. He had the depth of chest and spring of ribs. BoB 2. Moore – Afterglow Dough Ble Impact – This veteran boy had a decent head with furnishings and length of ears hanging close to his head. He had a spring of rib and short loin. He was a little close behind on the move.

Beagle PG 1. Andrews-Noden – Ivytower Excalibur. This young boy was of a good size and in balance; he was compact. He had enough width to skull with a slight dome, good stop. His eyes were dark hazel and large, and his ears framed his head set low and reached well forward. He had a length of neck that was strong and muscular, into nicely laid shoulders, tight elbows, and good, round bone to feet that were tight and firm. His chest was nicely filled, and his ribs extended well back. His tail set was high and carried well, complete with a white tip. He moved with an air of arrogance, clean and driving. BoB
