Merseyside Gundog Club 75th Anniversary Premier Open Show 9 Nov 2025 – Spanish Water Dogs

 Thank you to the Merseyside Gundog Club for the invitation to judge and to the exhibitors for allowing me the pleasure of judging your dogs. Thank you to my Stewards and to the Honorary Secretary Ann Moss and the Club Committee. Without these volunteers we would not be able to run these shows to celebrate our breeds.

 Class 60 – Puppy (3, 1)

1st Capille – Lendever’s Man Among Men – 9 mos D, white/brown with bobtail – what a pleasure to get my hands on this boy. Fabulous expression, oozing breed type, but nothing overdone – on checking the catalogue when writing this, I realised that this boys’ sire, is a dog I have judged and placed first in the past and he has passed on many of his excellent attributes. Correct head, kind eyes, with short neck leading into well placed shoulders and good depth of chest. Straight and parallel legs with quality bone and tight feet. Deep brisket, level back and well sprung ribs. Expected moderate angles, correct 9:8 ratio, extremely well-muscled and shown with correct brisk action despite the floor. Excellent coat.

2nd Capille – Lendevers Note My Aura – 8 mos B, black with white neck, chest and feet with full tail – very excited to be out in company today. Solid and confident for her age. Can instantly see she is a girl but at no detriment to her breed qualities. Good head, beautiful dark eye and correct neck. Quality bone, good brisket and elbows tucked in. Level topline. Correct angles front and rear resulting in good movement. Shown in shorter coat with nothing to hide.

Class 61 Special Yearling (1,0)

1st Capille – Lendever’s Keep Up With Me – 14 mos B brown with white muzzle, chest and feet, with no tail. I almost lost my Judges badge with this little one! Shown in coat and I could feel the hard condition of her structure – real worker. Strong and athletic, with correct proportions throughout. Flat skull, well placed ears and dark eye. Correct strong neck into well placed shoulders. Moved with drive and purpose with level topline.

1st Capille – Zorrazo Everybody Gonna Talk at Lendever – almost 3 yr old D brown, white chest & feet and a full tail with a white tip. Sire of 2nd in Puppy. Strong, solid dog with ring presence. Coat was clean yet rustic. Masculine head with pleasing expression and dark eye. Short muscular neck into well laid shoulders and deep chest. Ribs well sprung with level topline and muscular loin. Moved with drive and reach with an ever wagging tail. RBOB.
