Breed: Spaniel (Cocker)

Kirkcaldy District Canine Club Saturday 16th August

Cocker Spaniels

Thank you to the society for the invite to judge at their lovely show and the exhibitors for their entries and for taking my decisions sportingly. I was looking for a merry , sporting, strong, compact and well balanced dog full of substance and exuberance and a head with a gentle expression. Thank you to Evelynn and Tina my lovely stewards.

177 Puppy 2/3

1st Ewan’s Craigdean’s Cindy Oh Cindy – Black puppy bitch full of merriment which is so lovely to see. Beautifully presented quality silky super shiny coat. Lovely head developing well, great dentition and lustrous dark eyes of correct shape. Really good feet, plenty of heart room and great rear action. BP

2nd Brindle’s Ordhaway Sundance Girl -Golden built on bigger lines, needs to strengthen in the rear. Another well presented, good neck ,shoulders and substance.

178 Junior 5/5

I initially thought this class was going to a battle between two lovely feminine blue ladies but one girl who looked awesome in the stack, just wouldn’t perform on the move and had to settle for 3rd place today in a very nice class.

Clelland’s Lochellan Pure Chaos – Striking blue lady with lovely proportions that is put down really well. A good head with dark eyes, enough heart room and well ribbed and bodied but thoroughly feminine, great width to the thigh and neat feet. Moved well to win the class.

Bodzak’s Whinburn Dearg Aurora- Golden male who excelled in carriage, movement and topline, neat feet, good ribs and width to upper thigh. Not as compact as the winner but happiest striding out, keeping his shape on the move.

179 Yearling 3/3

Lawrie’s Inverella Hugo Boss -Black dog that excelled in outline and profile movement. Lovely dark eyes and crest to the neck, well rounded ribs and good width of thigh, turned out beautifully.

Ryallacourt Way Above Over Scomar - Tri boy with super compact body, great bone and superb rib, full of exuberance and merriment, I would of liked more neck but still powered around the ring with a merry action.

180 Post Graduate 2/2

1st Blazejczak’s St Clairs Wild Swim From Redgrante – A black lady who won the class on head qualities, lovely dark eyes, too much weight over the shoulders and a touch long. For me the feet were over trimmed.

2nd Hunter’s Cridhemor Cranachan – nice outline and movement but too narrow to be cockery for me. Nice feet noted.

181 Open 8/9

A very nice class.

1st Scotland’s Lynwater Hamilton – A stallion of an orange roan dog of 4 years, kept his outline on the move and had wonderful carriage. I had a feeling I had judged a dog of similar type before and when I looked his breeding up, his half brother has done well under me in the past. Great width, neck and shoulders and depth to his ribs, nice feet and the best rear movement of the entry and a lovely width of upper thigh. He used his tail on the move and gained BOB with ease. Enjoyed watching him gain Group 2 in the Gundog group. BOB, Group 2.

Smith’s Pearkim Pokemon At Luanshya -Another Orange roan boy this time of 8 years and looking so good. Couldn’t compete with the width and substance of first but still a lot to like. He has a striking outline and a very gentle expression, good neck and shoulders and I imagine he is a joy to own.
