City Of Cambridge & County Canine Society

Breed: Spaniel (Cocker)

City of Cambridge and County Canine Society Saturday 19th July 2025

Thank you to the Society for the invitation to judge Cocker Spaniels at their well-run open show. I had the lovely Sue Osborn and Sally Pointon as my stewards and I was lucky to be able to judge at a time when the rain took some time off ! Thank you so much to the exhibitors for bringing their lovely dogs under me and braving the weather , it is truly appreciated.

Clas 153

Puppy 3/5

1st Collings’ Aylesmead Blu Rose at Colmandakev – 9 month old dark blue female who is well off for type. Lovely outline with good ribs. Nice head developing with correct dentition. Good width to the upper thigh and lovely neat feet.

2nd Brothwell’s Annilann Da Business at Wissant-  6 month old light blue roan who is already confident and happy which is lovely to see and he was more compact than the winner. Great ribs with plenty of heart room. Already a real show off on the move, a merry cocker.

Class 154

Junior 6/8

1st Sewell & Hunt’s Lynwater Mad Hatter at Quattrozampe -13 month orange roan boy who I have judged as a puppy so I was delighted to see he had fulfilled his early promise. He makes an impressive outline with great ribs, bone and body and a correct short loin. He has great angles fore and aft and lovely width to his upper thigh. He is a strong and powerful and moves really well when settled. He has good head proportions and the exciting thing is his best is yet to come. RBOB and I was delighted to see him get 2nd in the RBOB group

2nd Hutton Baber’s Babtonkelpie Galley Queen- 11 month old dark blue roan female, well off for quality and type. Lovely head qualities. Great ribs and body for her age, really good rear angulation- . Plenty of width and a quality silky coat that was turned out really well. BP

Class 155

Postgraduate 7/7

1st Hutson’s Stobytil Bootlicious -What a lovely typey feminine blue. Loved her size and proportions and the most fantastic ribs that could be seen from all angles and a lovely short loin. She would benefit from a bit less weight over the shoulders and some stripping out around the rear quarters to give clear definition to her wonderful shape. She has a lovely feminine head and she’s is a lovely exhibit in the challenge for BOB I suppose I just wanted her to be a bit more enthusiastic. A lovely girl all the same.

2nd Randall’s Fengrange Defender Boy - A boy that cannot be ignored as he moves so well such wonderful reach and drive and has really good carriage. He has a lovely overall outline but I would prefer him a little shorter in loin. He has a masculine head and was turned out beautifully.

Class 156

Open 5/8

1st Remington’s Rozamie Black Pearl for Jessremjul- My star of the day, what a classic outline this black beauty has. Good neck and shoulders and turned out to perfection he black silky coat sheen could be seen even in the dull weather. Neat feet and good bone. Well-muscled quarters and lovely width to upper thigh. Moved out with style holding her outline and powered by her well-muscled quarters and true cocker tail action. I was delighted to see her gain 2nd in the Gundog Group too. BOB

2nd Saunder’s Camelfair Corocenzo at Oxfordogs- Strong masculine blue who was square and compact lots of quality here ! Lovely head and eye, another who would benefit from a bit less weight over the shoulders. He has the loveliest crest of next and wonderful ribs and short in loin. Loved his quality silky coat and enjoyed watching him power around the ring holding his topline.
