Breed: Rottweiler

Kent County Canine Association Open Show 17 th August 2025

It was a pleasure to judge at this very well run and relaxed show. I was delighted with my entry and although there were a few absences, I was really happy to see some lovely dogs and thank you to the exhibitors who accepted my decisions gracefully. I was also delighted to see that my BOB was awarded a Group 3 in the Working Group. Thank you too, to Lauran Wheaton who was my wonderfully efficient steward.

Rottweiler

J. (1) 1st. Gauron & Vine. Javladare Heart Goes Boom D 12 mths. A handsome young male with a lovely clean head, deep muzzle and decent stop. Good ears of correct shape and lying close to the head. Gentle almond eyes of dark colour. Correct body proportions that further need to develop given that he is only just a year old. Lovely tight feet with excellent pencil marks standing on very good bone. He has a good front assembly, and well laid shoulders leading to a reasonable topline with a good turn of stifle, well let down hocks and an excellent tail set which he holds correctly on the move. Unfortunately, he seemed a little tense today which affected his movement somewhat. Once settled however, he showed that he has the ability to really move with purpose and drive. Well handled and in excellent condition.

PG (7/3) 1st. Smith. Jaegerot Mr Marvellous D 21 mths . Another handsome young male. Lovely clean head with correct dark almond eyes and well shaped pendant ears lying close to the head. Good front assembly - forechest just a tad straight, plenty of bone and a good solid rear assembly leading to a well set tail. He has lovely rich tan markings and was in excellent hard condition. On the move, he was straight coming and going and held his topline around the ring, which was rather too small for him to be able to show off his reach and drive to the full. He is very enthusiastic about life and was obviously enjoying himself and gave his handler a hard time which she coped with very well and got the best out of him! I was delighted to award him Best Of Breed and thrilled to see that he came 3rd in the Group.

2nd. De Vries. Abacab’s Fading Lights B 3yrs. A lovely strong yet feminine bitch with an old fashioned Rottweiler look. She has a clean head with a well defined stop, slightly rounded dark eyes giving out a very calm and confident gaze. Excellent flews and correct scissor bite and showing a reasonably deep muzzle. Neck is nicely arched leading to well laid shoulders and on to a good topline which she maintained on the move. Feet are tight and well marked. On the move, she showed purpose and drive both coming and going which left me with a difficult decision! Well handled to produce an excellent side profile. I was delighted to see that she won the RBOB class.

 O. (2,1) 1st Johnson. Weysabrook All that Jazz B 2yrs. A very attractive bitch with a lot to like and a nice overall appearance. Head slightly wrinkled, ears correct pendant shape and set. Dark flews and correct scissor bite. Lovely dark almond eye. Good breadth of chest, well laid shoulders leading to straight well boned forelegs and tight feet, with correctly defined pencil marks. Well arched neck leading to a straight top line which she held on the move. Today however, her movement was slightly lacking in purpose and drive although she covered the ground well and was straight coming and going. She was presented in very good condition and showed an excellent temperament.
