Dorset County Canine Society

Dorset County Canine Society – Limited show - 30th November 2025

It was a pleasure to spend the day with such a super team of people who all welcomed me so warmly, thank you to all for the lovely gifts & scrumptious lunch plus a huge thank you to Barry and Ronnie for their company, humour & stewarding skills all day. I do hope the exhibitor who was taken unwell has now fully recovered and commend the Society here for their speedy handling of the situation. Thanks to one and all for bringing such a lovely variety of dogs to the show and hope you all had a lovely day.

AV Hound NSC

Yearling (3) 1 abs

1. White’s Pastida Cruz Iscaglades (Whippet) fawn, nicely presented male, has elegance &quite a nice profile, would prefer more front infill, finely & elegantly boned, has reasonable depth, nicely arched loin, good quarters, moved well enough, excellent condition.

2. Wardell-Knights Al’Barq Origen Charm (imp Svk) (Sloughi) black mantle/sand points, well-muscled throughout, super strength of pastern, good feet, super ribcage, sleek body with gleaming coat, would prefer him slightly finer all through to enhance theelegance, however there is no doubt he was a hunting hound & showing was a new experience for him, good luck.

Post Graduate (6) 3 abs

1. Havill’s Raven Baloo, (Min L/H Dachs) bl/tan with nicely balanced profile, good head shape with conical appearance, strong muzzle, good eye shape, nicely angled fore & aft & was sound, coat needs more attention to enhance his appearance.

2. Bright & Joy’s Rovigo Argenta (Rhodesian Ridgeback) nice type, most attractive muscular & powerful, ridge tapering but crowns not quite symmetrical, flat skull & defined stop, ears set high, shoulders well placed, chest & ribs well sprung, reasonableangle to quarters however movement was all over the place today in the ring & needs much more ringcraft, excellent condition.

Open (6) 1 abs

1. Wilkinson’s Rainster Eilex Among Hunacres (Irish Wolfhound) very nicely balanced throughout, upstanding powerful bitch with obvious quality, good eye, gentle expression with good femininity, good strong neck to well laid shoulder, good front, huge chest space & good ribbing, topline correct with nice rise over croup, moderate quarters, harsh coat, gave a good account of herself considering the confines of the ring space. Best Hound & Res.BIS

AV Hound – Import Register

Open (2)

1. Gombas-Juhasz’s Venise Des Vallees Longeronnaises (Basset Bleu de Gascoigne) two delightful exhibits in this class with little between then however preferred the more balanced outline of this bitch, nicely domed skull, good expression, excellent jaw, good ear-set & length, shoulders placed nicely with good return, half crooked on both exhibits, level back of good length, quarters & hocks good, parallel action, needs better handling making this decision difficult.

2. Gombas-Juhasz’s Vegas Des Vallees Longeronnaises (Basset Bleu de Gascoigne) most attractive male with lovely head & good expression, very similar comments apply & this one was handled much better however my preference was for the overall balanceof 1 on this occasion.

AV Gundog NSC

Puppy (1)

1. Petticlerc’s Listerlo Amber Management (Hungarian Vizla) lively exhibit that’s for sure, was difficult to assess as keeping still wasn’t his forte! Had an attractive moderately wide head, good eye & expression, shoulders & forelegs were good, body & ribs strong, muscular, very good cat-like feet with good nails, moderate in angulation, movement was more jumping around than anything else, persevere!

Yearling (2) 1 abs

1. Walker’s Glowhill Blue Sahara (Cocker Spaniel) compact in appearance, nice balanced head, dark eye, good expression, square muzzle, great for profile appearance, could have put a bit more into her movement as she was a nice exhibit.

Post Graduate (4)

1. Glass’s Cobhay Rosa Meg (Welsh Springer Spaniel) compact & muscular exhibit that was expertly handled, slightly domed head, good medium length muzzle, low set long ears, well coupled body, super first & second thigh musculature, moved out with gooddrive & power.

2. Ball & Fry’s Listerloo Good As Gold (Hungarian Vizla) well handled & of attractive appearance, had good balance throughout, smooth & muscular, well laid shoulders & moderately angled, liked her but she tended to pull to one side on the move whichunfortunately spoilt her overall performance.

3. Bennett’s Lendever’s Valiant Hero (Spanish Water Dog)

Open (6)

1. Coombes Tenshilling Mac The Knife (Pointer) super outline on this muscular but lean exhibit, orange/white, handler got the very best out of him, well-proportioned head with good well defined stop, excellent dentition, clean leathers, long sloping shoulders, well sprung ribs, strong loin & nicely coupled, oval well arched toes, nicely tapered tail, smooth ground covering action, presented in first class order. Best Gundog & BIS

2. Iremonger’s Moonmist Twinkle Toes (Am.Cocker Spaniel) very nicely made parti quality exhibit that was nicely balanced, very good lay of shoulder & excellent front, well ribbed, good topline, pushed off well from good quarters, extremely close decisionbetween these two, super coat & presentation.

3. Luczynski’s Baladeva Scarlet Letters for Kanara ShCM ShEx VW (Am.Cocker Spaniel)

AV Utility NSC

Post Graduate (2) 1 abs

1. Silsbury’s J’Adoremy Thundering Heart (Shih Tzu) gold/white with plenty of attitude, lovely rounded head & good eye, beard & whiskers, nicely placed front & good quarters, body had good proportions with nice level back, free flowing mover showing his pads well, presented immaculately.

Open (5)

1. Cann’s Sunmarca Secret Agent (Miniature Poodle) a nice class but this black stood out & was of very attractive appearance, shapely & stylish, coal black eyes set in refined head, just the right amount of stop, nice tight lips, good length of neck sitting onto well laid shoulders, straight front, to be ideal would prefer better bend of stifle but this ring suited him, moved off with some style, profuse coat presented well. Best Utility

2. Warren’s Jolerob One Way of Puttin It at Starferry (Shar Pei) quite squarely built & good in profile, showing off a good head with nice flat skull, small ears, good expression, moderate stop, nice black nose, moderate wrinkle, straight forelegs, slight slope to pastern, deep chest & good underline, compact feet, tightly curled tail, had a nice free striding gait.

3. Meakin’s Layoli Firecracker at Miksang (Tibetan Terrier)

AV Terrier NSC

Puppy (1)

1. Long’s Dunkeswell Salt An Pepper (Bedlington Terrier), this one looked so very sad & clearly unhappy on the flooring; 10 months old she had a lean long head surmounted with nice white curly topknot, good pigment & low set ears, she was a bit weak in front& needed more body, couldn’t really assess her movement very well as she kept sitting down or pulling to the side, needs a lot of attention.

Yearling (3) 2 abs

1. Poultney’s Ratswell Bring Me Sunshine (Bedlington Terrier), graceful male of good overall shape, head of good length, stood well in profile, had good head carriage & a decent neck, straight forelegs, defined tuck-up, rising nicely over loin, hocks could be stronger, moved lightly with reasonable pace although unsettled on rear.

Post Graduate (3) 2 abs

1. Long’s Dunkeswell Pepper Dash (Bedlington Terrier) attractive blue tinged bitch who stood well to show off her profile which was petite, shapely & nicely balanced, hare feet but nails need attention, was a little loose in front when moving but overall, she looked quite a promising young lady.

Open

1. Poultney’s Jobanker Rocky Road (Bedlington Terrier) paler in colour, nice long head, good eye & expression, slightly stronger all through, good neck set onto shoulders well, straight forelegs, hare feet but again, nails need attention, good depth, would prefer better tuck-up, good strong hindquarters, moved with springy action. Best Terrier

AV Pastoral NSC

Yearling (3) 1 abs

1. Evans Cocaro Pretty In Pink (Shetland Sheepdog) such an attractive exhibit, sable with nice double coat, delightful head & alert expression from lovely well-shaped dark eyes, good ear-set, nicely balanced throughout, shoulders well laid back, good in front & rear, neat oval feet well padded, graceful & positive mover.

2. Hewett’s Serenlas Borrowed Heaven (Rough Collie) such an attractive & nicely marked exhibit, good size & balance, lovely refined & elegant head with sparkling almond eyes, stood on very good forelegs, excellent feet, nicely bodied, strong & angled nicely at the rear, unfortunately didn’t cope as well with the floor so her movement wasn’t as positive as 1.

Post Graduate (2)

1. O’Brien’s Clanwillow Crown Princess at Gilcharma (Bearded Collie) slate grey bitch that was well conditioned & presented very nicely; she had a nice length to her, most attractive in head, which was well proportioned with equal balance, good expression, nice scissor bite, good front held underneath well, oval feet, moved out with confidence. Best Pastoral

2. Webb’s Eltimaris Hip Hip Horray, (Bearded Collie) 3 year old male of very nice type, shape & balance, stood well in profile, however his coat presentation needs a lot of work as he was just full of mats & knots which was a shame as he was a nice exhibit.

Open (2) 1 abs

1. McShane’s Blenmerrow Ring of Roses (Shetland Sheepdog) nicely presented bitch, alert, graceful & well proportioned, body felt good underhand & she stood very well, had a wealth of coat & moved out cleanly.

Best Puppy in Show

Open (2) 1 abs

1. Yeates Vonnyisle Angel Effect with Merryanna (Cavalier King Charles Sp.) very nicely presented Blenheim, she was very sound, friendly with well-shaped head & good eye, held her forelegs well underneath, was well coupled, nicely angle to hindquarters, hocks okay, free moving.

AV Working NSC

Yearling (3) 2 abs

1. Partridge-Bebb’s Kaskae Show Me The Monet Avec Keighanya (Alaskan Malamute) impressive dog that was powerfully built, well-proportioned broad head, black nose, nice dark eyes, ears set well, good scissor bite, strongly boned, good deep chest, nicely muscled, stifle moderately angled, super clean hocks, compact feet, tail set well, very easy mover here in the class with terrific drive, unfortunately it was a pity he lost concentration & power in the challenge for Best in Show as I liked him very much.
