I would like to thank all the exhibitors for a very enjoyable day judging at the Caledonian Canine Society Open Show. It was a pleasure to go over a variety of dogs across the Utility breeds, and I was pleased with the depth of quality in the classes. I appreciated the sporting attitude and good spirit shown by everyone throughout the day – thank you for your support and for allowing me the opportunity to assess your dogs. My thanks also go to my ring steward, Margaret Paterson, whose calm and efficient organisation helped ensure everything ran smoothly. It was a lovely appointment, and I am grateful to the committee for inviting me to judge.

Poodle (Standard)

1. Burns’ Guilliedhu Beeswing. 6-month-old bitch. Elegant and square. Lovely personality – gay spirited and lively in the ring. Well balanced with pretty head. Foreface strong and well chiselled, dark almond-shaped eyes and correct scissor bite. Good depth of chest and short, strong back. Moved well with plenty of drive once settled. BPIB & BOB

1. Hinshelwood’s Muirfauld Mirror Image JW. 3-year-old grey and white bitch. Well balanced and sturdy. Lovely head with dark oval eyes, correct bite, moderately narrow skull and black nose. Strong neck leading into well-laid shoulders. Good angulation. Moved freely around the ring. RBOB

2. Logan’s Spyanki Noah Nuther Boy. 7-month-old gold puppy dog. Handsome head with strong muzzle, dark oval shaped eyes and black nose. A lovely happy puppy, full of enthusiasm and attentive to handler. Super topline which he held on the stand and on the move. A very good mover. BPIB

1. Carmichael’s Kelankins Pearls A Singer by Glenbranter. 4-year-old cream bitch. Beautifully presented and well balanced. Pretty head with lovely expression, moderately narrow skull, correct bite, good whiskers and beard. Level topline and strong loin. A super mover and a joy to watch. BOB & Utility Group 2

2. Hinshelwood’s Muirfauld Fairy Tale JW. 3-year-old cream bitch. Presented in beautiful condition. Sturdy and well-balanced. Lovely head with dark oval eyes, black nose and moderately narrow skull. Level topline at all times. Well angulated and moved freely around the ring.

1. Hunter & Murphy’s Silvora Cristal Star JW. 2-year-old black dog. This dog took my eye as soon as he walked in the ring. He has a stunning head with strong well chiselled foreface, dark, almond shaped eyes and correct bite. Well balanced and elegant, he had good length of neck leading into well laid shoulders. Well sprung ribs and good depth of chest. A real showman and what a super mover! BOB and Utility Group 1

1. Gilmour’s Sandars Mr Rubble. 2-year-old red and white dog. Handsome head with well-placed ears, relatively large skull, lovely dark eyes, short broad muzzle and fine wrinkle. Correct dentition. Strong neck leading into broad shoulders. Wide chest and relatively short back. Moved soundly. BOB

2. Bertram’s Ruciona Bullseye. 2-year-old white dog. Nice size and shape – well balanced and well-muscled. Strong head with good earset, dark eyes, black nose and correct bite. Strong, short back and wide chest. Moved well. RBOB

1. Grant & Murphy’s Silvora Amerocano. 2 ½ year old black bitch. Lovely pretty head with dark almond eyes giving an intelligent expression, nicely chiselled muzzle, black nose, correct dentition. Beautifully presented. Very spirited and happy. Elegant and proud. She moved soundly in all directions with good drive. BOB

2. Tollin’s Dorian Gray’s Ace Up My Sleeve (IMP DEU). 2 ½ year old silver bitch. A lovely exhibit with lots to like. Beautifully presented. Nice head with dark almond eyes, chiselled muzzle, black nose. Well balanced with short back and well sprung ribs. Good angulation. Moved well. RBOB

1. Paterson’s Cicischows Miss Scarlett. 6-month-old red bitch. A lovely puppy. Well balanced, compact and leonine in appearance. Pretty head with flat skull, dark oval eyes, small, thick, slightly rounded ears, bluish black tongue ad black pigment in mouth. Strong neck leading to muscular shoulders. Chest broad and deep. 1st – Dewcroft’s Dvojica Countess Caledonia. 9-year-old Dalmatian bitch. White with liver spots. Pretty head with strong muzzle, clean lips, correct dentition and brown nose. In great condition and well balanced. Strong, muscular and active, she moved powerfully with long strides around the ring. A lovely exhibit. Best AV Veteran

G3 Grant’s Kevin Dude of the Glen at Bevahalli (Dalmatian). 4-year-old dog. White with liver spots. A lovely example of the breed – well-balanced, strong and muscular. Handsome head with flat skull, powerful muzzle and brown nose. Fairly long neck leading to well laid shoulders. Strong, powerful level back. Moved freely with strong, powerful and rhythmic action.

PG1 Grant & Wilkins’ Salvadorada Let’s Get Loud (Dalmatian) 6-month-old puppy dog. White with black spots. Handsome head with medium size, oval shaped dark brown eyes - bright and sparkling, with intelligent expression. He is well-balanced and strong, with good spring of rib and good angulation. He moved freely around the ring. A lovely puppy.
