Guildford and District Canine Society – Premier Open Show

30th November 2025

My sincere thanks to the Society for inviting me to judge several lovely breeds at this excellent Premier Open Show. I very much enjoyed my appointment and, despite a few absentees, the overall quality of exhibits was high. Thank you to everyone who attended and presented their dogs so well.

Guildford & District Canine Society 2025

Smooth Coat Chihuahua P 1 Murray’s Davixity The Evangelist Very promising 6 month old female that should go on to bigger things as she matures on from today’s showing. Well rounded in skull, distinct stop, dark well set eyes and wide set ears. Ample length of neck flowing into well constructed forehand with straight limbs. Well let down in chest and sprung in rib for her age. Defined in quarters allowing a positive brisk movement in any direction in harmony with her handler. Strong all through yet ultra feminine in appearance. Good temperament to complete the overall picture. BP & BOB J 1 Ginger’s Jodeschi Glamour Puss 14 month old female maybe at that “in between” stage today. Correct domed shape skull, dark expressive eyes and wide set ears, for me she could be better in jaw and dentition but this could be an age thing that may improve as she matures. Enough depth of chest and spring to ribbing but would like a tad more length in body to finish her. Sound and clean on the move at all times. Showed good ring presence for her age. RBOB PG 1 Ginger’s Jodeschi Glamour Puss 2 Smith’s Chibull Micky Mouse at Lozek 3 ½ year old male strong proportionate head shape, correct clean dentition but could have better ears and eyes to improve the overall picture. Moderate angulation fore and aft but for me he appears rather stocky especially in forehand and this affected his movement in front. Well handled to get all he had to offer. O 1 Ginger’s Copymear War Paint for Jodeschi 4 ½ year old female, good for overall type and build although her tail could be set on a tad higher. Clean proportionate headpiece, dark well set eyes, strong jaws but dentition could be better prepared. Moderate angulation and toning fore and aft with ample depth of chest and spring to ribbing giving her a balanced shape and a steady controlled movement at all times. Long Coat Chihuahua P 1 Jones’ Flickan Fife Well constructed 7 month old mal full of promise for the future judging by his performance today. Good head to go over, eyes dark, enough breadth between his ears and correct dentition. Just enough length of neck flowing into well made front assembly with good bone and muscling for his age. Well ribbed up, topline level, good length to height ratios. Strong quarters allowing the brisk steady movement called for. Well presented in jacket and good temperament. BPIB. 2 Holland’s Darnleys’ Barbie 8 month old female, strong yet so feminine in appearance overall. Scores well in head with clean planes and correct rounded skull. Forehand is moderately angulated and matched by her quarters giving her balance and a steady stride pattern. Shown in good coat. 3 Etherton’s Flickan Fremlin J 1 Jones’ Flickan Firmament Just a year old female so lots more to come from her as she matures on judging by her showing today. Well proportioned in head with definite stop and rounded skull. Dark appealing eyes and well set ears. Moderately angulated in front assembly with straight limbs and good feet. Well let down in chest and sprung in ribbing, firm level back thanks in part to her toned quarters. Easy on the move with good ground coverage at all times. 2 Jones’ Flickan Fallon 7 month old female. This young lady has the framework to build on she just needs to gain a bit more confidence as he grows. Balanced in head to body giving a pleasing outline. Well ribbed up for her age, topline firm. Just needs time to be at her optimum. Shown in good jacket. PG 1 Jones’ Flickan Angie’s Gift 20 month old female that was somewhat reserved today and as such didn’t show as well as she is made. Good head to go over, ears and eyes set well, strength in jaws and correct dentition. Moderately angulated fore and aft giving a pleasing outline stacked up but she wasn’t completely settled on the move today. O 1 Cater’s Lykath’s Light Of Earendil In Pixels JW 2 year old female, stole the show here today. Scores well in head, correct domed skull, dark appealing eyes and well set ears to finish the picture. Well constructed in forehand with corresponding hindquarters giving a balanced silhouette and the fluency in her stride at all times in complete harmony with her very good handler. comes to rest standing four square with minimal fuss from her handler. BOB 2 Jones’ Flickan Fruitcake 6 ½ year old female. Proportionate in head with dark eyes and well set ears. Strong jaws but dentition needs better attention. Moderately built all through in terms of angulation but today she was carrying a bit too much weight. Sound and true on the move.

Pomeranian P 1 Shargazlah’s Devil on Fire, A lovely 10-month-old orange baby boy, very pleasing for type and balance. Sweet head expression, eyes, well set ears. Correct dentition. Short neck, level top line, high tail set. Lovely coat and shown in tip-top condition, and I particularly liked him on the move. Best Puppy and BOB. 2 Royalkapoms Magic Onyx by Larosapearl, An 11-month-old puppy whom I have previously judged at another show and still like very much. On this occasion, however, I felt he was a little over-mature for his age and I preferred the movement of the first. O 1 Trenarwyn Catherine Wheel at Sharhazlah, A three-year-old black very feminine female. Beautiful foxy like head with sweetest eyes and expression. Small ears, well set. Good dentition. Short neck, level top line. Straight tail, carried right on top of her back and fabulously feathered. She was beautifully presented and looked very pleasant on the move. RBOB
