German Spitz Breeders & Owners Club

German Spitz Breeders & Owners Club

Open Show

26th July 2025

Judge: Miss L Tarabad (Khatibi)

I was delighted to be asked to judge the stakes and BIS at this club show held in conjunction with Leeds champ show. After a very long wait the show started and I finally got in the ring when the rest of the showground was almost empty! From experience that usually means exhibitors decide to go home or start moaning about such a long day but for the German Spitz crowd nothing could be further from the truth! All I heard was joking and laughter around the ring with applause for every single winner and great support for each other, it really was so enjoyable to be part of it!

David Rogerson Memorial Stakes Classes

Klein (3)

1.Rogerson’s Ch. Nosregor Sister Sledge. Super sound cream nearing 5 years old and although not in full coat has nothing to hide. Compact and squarely built with super ribbing, level topline, correct length of leg and good bone. Feminine head and alert expression with good breadth of skull, neat high set ears, moderate stop, dark oval eyes and correct length of muzzle. Smart and accurate on the move holding her outline perfectly in profile and handled to an advantage. She never put a foot wrong while the Mittel lost concentration in the challenge so I awarded her Best Overall.

2.Francis, Pearce, Williams & Davies’ Longsdale’s Dance With Me Trebettyn JW. Another nice one of a lovely size with compact frame and carrying a full coat. Moderately short neck into good front assembly, well sprung ribs, level topline and high set tail carried well. Handsome head with well balanced length of muzzle, neat ears, clean cheeks and tight lips. Moved very well out and back, but 1 held herself better in profile.

3.Andrew’s Claran Edge of Glory.

Mittel (10,2) Tricky class to sort out with exhibits of both sexes and ages ranging from 2 to 14 years old!

1.Chapman’s Ch. Kitsune Notorious. Masculine 3yr dog in full bloom and immaculate condition, handled to an advantage. Very nicely balanced with moderately short neck set well into shoulders, correct front and rear angulation, good chest and ribbing, short loin and high set tail carried correctly. Masculine head of good breadth with high set ears, nice eyes, well balanced length of muzzle, stop just a little too defined but doesn’t detract from his lovely expression. Moved with a brisk action, accurate out and back and holding his outline firm in profile.

2. O’Leary’s Cadasaro Gerhard. Smaller than 1 but again with a lovely balance to his outline, compact and well knit with firm topline, high set curled tail, correct length of leg with good bone and feet. Wedge shaped head with correctly placed dark oval eyes, moderate stop, clean cheeks and tight lips. Straight out and back, not quite as good in profile as 1.

3.Andrew’s Jericho Rapidamente Daraydala (imp pol)

Best In Show was Chambers’ Ch. Musique Born Legacy a super Klein who I have judged previously and he continues to impress. Such a neat outline, compact and well knit with moderate angulation, well ribbed up, short loin, firm topline and well set and carried tail. Lovely head and expression and presented in super coat and condition. A real showman who always makes the most of himself both standing and on the move.   Reserve Best In Show was the Mittel bitch O’Leary’s Cadasaro Keep The Faith who is a beautiful example of the breed with super construction and such feminine head but she just wasn’t on her A game after such a long day and didn’t want to make the most of herself, which was totally understandable!

Best Puppy In Show was a very exciting Mittel, O’Leary’s Cadasaro Hanna who surely must have a bright future. Absolutely gorgeous head and expression, super construction from head to toe with neck set well into moderate shoulders, firm topline, good chest and ribbing, moderate rear with good bone and feet. Square and balanced with coat enhancing her outline further. Moved briskly and accurately in all directions holding her outline firm, I loved her!  Reserve Best Puppy In Show was also a Mittel, Fitton’s Shelayne Riotous Revelry. This one a real baby at just 6months but has a smart shape that should finish well with maturity. Such a cheeky face with lovely eyes, high set ears, correct length of muzzle and alert expression. Still showing his socks off moving smartly around the ring holding his outline firm. Not much coat yet but has nothing to hide.

Best Veteran In Show was the ever youthful Mittel, Mackenzie & Moir’s Ch. Jansanleis Mayhem JW VW. At 14years old this was not the first time I’ve had the pleasure of judging her and as always I found her to be a delight! She has the most beautiful head, super construction, lovely movement and just seems to adore being in the ring. Yes she is starting to show her age a little now but she certainly doesn’t look 14 and can still give the youngsters a run for their money!
