Staffordshire Bull Terriers Judge: Lesley Foster (Tusselstaff)

Thank you to the committee for the invitation to judge Staffordshire Bull Terriers. Ring size was good which allowed the exhibits sufficient room to settle into their stride and although the weather was exceptionally warm, I was pleased to see that there were no dogs observed to be struggling with the heat. When I judged in 2024, I raised concerns about lack of rib and poor feet creeping in to the breed but happy to say that I didn’t notice either concern in today’s entry. Mouths on the whole were generally good.

1 Wells, Mr K & Mrs L – WELLSSTAFFS YOUNG WARRIOR

Smart black brindle dog, he is strong but clean in head, wide skull, neat rose ears, dark eye and clean lipped. Decent front with enough rib for age, good angulation all around, level topline and pleasing side profile, topped off with gleaming coat. Worked well with his handler. At almost 12 months of age I’m sure this youngster will have a bright future. Pleased to award him BD, RBOB and BPIB. Also placed TG2!

1 Hudson, Mrs S L – FAIRLENIUM IRON KING AT CANISSTAFF

Very attractive flashy pied male of some substance, powerful but attractive head, broad in skull with distinct stop, dark eye and neat ears. Well off for bone, he has a good depth of brisket, ample spring of rib, presented in good condition and showed good rapport between him and his handler. Handled well.

2 Staton, Mrs T & Mr K - GEORDIESTAFF AM CLAMMIN AT INVICTASTAFF

Really liked this brindle dog, he has a white flash to chest and toes, good strength to head, distinct stop, and rose ears. His front is straight and of ample width, up on the leg, displaying level topline and good rear angulation, pleasing side profile and short coat in gleaming condition. Shown in excellent condition. Just preferred the expression of 1st. Moved and handled ok.

1 Wells, Mr K & Mrs L – WELLSSTAFFS SHINE A LIGHT

Pretty black brindle bitch with white chest and feet, Clean feminine head, good muzzle to skull ratio, dark eye and neat ears. Loved her expression. Litter sister to RBOB, she is less mature than him but has plenty of time on her side (she is still a pup after all) with enough rib for age, good angulation to rear. She can be a bit distracted on the move but eventually settles and does what she needs to do with a little prompting. Promising pup

1 Banner, Mr J L & Mrs N M – GEORDIESTAFF HADAWAY PET

Smashing brindle bitch with white chest and toes, attractive head of good proportions, distinct stop, dark round eye and neat rose ears. Well balanced all around, and well off for bone, good depth of brisket and correct lay of shoulder. She has plenty of rib and a strong backend making for a pleasing profile from all angles. Decent movement once she settles. My notes say a good honest Stafford and that she is - I will watch her future with interest.

2 Bowman Mrs J & Mr T – SIKAISTAFF LIL MONSTER AT KAMIFLO JW

Quality black brindle bitch, strong but feminine head shape, slightly shorter in muzzle than 1st but still of good proportions, dark eye, neat ears. Front, brisket and rib all ample for age, level topline, slightly longer caste than 1st, shown with gleaming coat, and displaying good rapport between her and her handler. Moved and handled well

Black brindle bitch with white chest, absolutely adored her, prettiest of expressions, darkest of eyes, near ear, clean in foreface and good skull to muzzle ratio. Definitely a bitch on first glance, straight front, enough depth of brisket, well tucked up, shown in excellent condition and pleasing side profile. Moved and handled well. Really liked her

1 Wells Mr K & Mrs L – Ch TARAIEL RAY OF LIGHT AT WELLSSTAFFS

Right up my street, this stunning black brindle bitch with white chest and feet has excellent head shape, clean and feminine, pleasing skull to muzzle ratio, darkest of eyes, near ear carriage, she has true straight front, good depth of brisket, pleasing spring of rib, good angulation all around. Shown in excellent fit condition, not an ounce of fat on her. Just loved her! Pleased to award her Best of Breed, and to top it off she was also placed TG1! Excellent day for the breed with her son (PD) also taking RBOB and TG2.
