Thank you to the committee for the invitation to judge this well-run and friendly show, thanks to my steward for a smooth-running ring, and to the exhibitors for allowing me to go over their quality dogs, I thoroughly enjoyed my entry in the sunshine.

Irish setters

Puppy 3 (1)

1. Boyd-Mcneil & Edwards’ Glennlokhen Chasing Dreams Feminine girl, with a dark eye and soft expression. Classic crest to her neck flowing cleanly into well-laid back shoulders. She is well-off for forechest and has a pronounced sternum, balanced fore and aft with ample ribbing and firm loin. Plenty of width to her quarters and bend of stifle for her age. Just needs to settle into her footfall as she matures on, but it is lovely to see that Irish mischief as she is learning her job. Rich, dark coat coming on nicely. BP & PG3.

2. Macfarlane’s Harelferg Macfarlane For Umfrido Different type to my winner, a mature dog with plenty of bone. Masculine headpiece with good chiselling to foreface and pronounced occiput. Muscular neck leading into a firm topline although slightly steep in croup. Moderate front angulation but would prefer more fill in front. Sweeping stifle with well-muscled thighs. Co-ordinated on the move in side-gait, just needs to tidy coming and going as he develops.

3. Murchison’s Harelferg Penny Lane Via Corphin

Junior 1 (0)

1. Boyd-Mcneil & Edwards’ Glennlokhen Chasing Dreams Repeat of Puppy.

Graduate 4 (1)

1. Borthwick’s Danwish Aria On Lotushill Very pretty bitch, balanced head, dark attractive eye, and knowing expression. Lovely reach of neck flowing cleanly into laid-back shoulders. She holds a gently sloping topline and firm croup. Moderate and racy all through, with balanced angulation front and rear with well-muscled thighs. Stylish, free-flowing movement, would love to see that tail lashing off the back to complete the picture.

2. Macfarlane’s Harelferg New Tricks For Umfrido Up to size male with balanced headpiece, refined and masculine with correct stop and finish to muzzle. Clean through neck over the shoulder. Moderate front angulation and developed forechest. Enough rear quarters, just lacking strength through his second thigh. Steady mover with ok footfall, just a little proud of his tail today.

3. Tupper’s Alofrana’s Welsh Crusader

Post-Graduate 3 (0)

Lovely class to judge, a mother and two daughters who are all well-made and can move.

1. Vallance’s Glencarron Second Edition To Corcencone Beautiful 3-year-old bitch with dark almond shape eye giving a soft, quizzical expression. Domed skull, correct stop and finish to muzzle, lovely work to foreface and wide nostrils. Lovely reach of neck, with classic crest, into well-laid back shoulders, paired with good return of upper arm. Elbows well let down, plenty of forechest, best of the day, and standing on a straight front with good bone, and tight, arched feet. Her topline is firm and she is presented in hard-muscular condition. Ample lung room from well-spring ribs, firm loin and well-muscled, moderate quarters which she used to drive round the ring with ease, complete with a lashing tail. BOB and G3.

2. Allan’s Braidmount Dreamed A Dream For Glencarron 7-yeal old feminine bitch who belies her age, mother to 1 and 3 and she has passed on many of her top qualities. Balanced and feminine head with parallel planes, domed skull with plenty of brain room. Muscular reach of neck which fits cleanly into excellent shoulder placement, although would prefer a touch more forechest. Her front is straight and true, as can be seen in her true action all-ways on the move. Lovely firm topline held on the move, slightly soft over the croup but perfect tail set and action which is a joy to watch. Best rear quarters of the day, great width to first and second thigh, well-bent, sweeping stifle, not over done in anyway. Presented in hard condition, a credit to her owner. Gave her daughter some stiff competition today, just preferred the forechest and firmer croup of 1. Congratulations on RBVIS.

3. Hunter’s Glencarron Another Chapter At Braidmount Completed a trio of 3 lovely bitches, in lovely coat and condition, well-made, just out-moved by the winner’s precise footfall today.

Open 6 (2)

1. Allan’s Glencarron Show Must Go On JW Quality dog, presented here in tip-top condition. Litter brother to the PG winner and many of the same qualities apply. Masculine head piece with parallel planes and good stop. Muscular neck, not too thick, flowing into excellent shoulder placement and fill in front. He stands on great bone. Fabulous topline sloping down from the withers, firm all though and he holds it on the move. He has inherited his mothers’ rear quarters which he used to drive round the ring, coupled with lovely reach at the front from his correct return of upper arm. Lovely to see him and his sister challenge for BOB, just preferred his sisters slightly more compact stature.

2. Murchison’s Kerryfair Please Please Me Corphin When stacked this boy presents a well-balanced picture, shown in excellent coat and condition with ample feathering now in his veteran years. Masculine, balanced head, with lovely finish to his flew. He is well-off for bone with a straight front and neat feet, with moderate forechest. Lovely flow from neck over laid back shoulders to gently sloping topline. Good rear quarters with all important width to first and second thigh, with strong hocks, short hock to heel, which he used to move soundly. Could not match the verve of 1 on the move today.

3. Vallance’s Lynwood Rather Ravishing At Corcencone
