WEST RIDING DACHSHUND ASSOCIATION – OPEN SHOW AV DACHSHUND RESULTS

Thank you to the society for the kind invitation to judge the stakes classes at your Open show, I had some lovely dogs to judge which made for some very close decisions and an enjoyable day. Thanks to Michelle for Stewarding for me, it was very much appreciated!

Class 40 – Baby Puppy (Standard) (1)

1st – 108 – Starkey’s Fredanna Moonlight Cyprus Class - Black and tan male of excellent type and lovely proportions. He has a handsome head, correct almond eye and strong muzzle. Long, clean neck, well set into an excellent front assembly, with voluminous thorax, well laid shoulders, equal return of upper arm, good bone and feet. Good clean lines to his body. He has good height/depth to length ratios, with good ribbing. He moved true, holding a lovely profile outline.

Class 41 – Baby Puppy (Miniature) (3,1) – two lovely siblings who share many of the same qualities.

1st – 77 – Nash’s Sharnphilly Thumbelina with Mutoko - Lovely red brindle baby girl of excellent type. She has a pretty head of correct conical shape and a strong muzzle, dark almond eyes and well-set ears. Beautifully crested neck set into well-angled shoulders, excellent return of upper arm, bone and feet. Strong topline thanks to her lovely ribbing, plump rear with good width of thigh, well-turned stifles and strong hocks. She moved true and was very well presented by her handler. Delighted to award her Best Baby Puppy.

2nd – 78 – Nash’ Sharnphilly Tom Thumb with Mutoko - Male, sister to one. Brindle, and of excellent type. Handsome head of good proportions and correct ears. Clean neck, well-angled front assembly. Excellent bone and feet. Nicely shaped body with good ground clearance. Plump, well-angled rear. He moved well when settled.

Class 42 – AV Champion Stakes (Standard) (2,1)

1st – 51 – Jennings’ CH Marvale’s Manifesto at Jenivon - Handsome black and tan male who I judged as a youngster and did well, and I'm delighted to see he has his title. Handsome head of excellent proportions, strong muzzle, well-shaped and set ears. Long, strong, crested neck, set into the best of front assemblies. Voluminous thorax, excellent lay of shoulder and return of upper arm giving ideally placed forelegs, well underneath him. Excellent bone and feet. Nicely shaped body with ribbing extending well back, with strong topline and gradual underline. Plump, well-angled rear assembly with good turn of stifle, excellent width of first and second thigh, and strong, well-let down hocks. He moved true with balance, with excellent reach and drive.

Class 43 – AV Champion Stakes (Miniature) – (2,2)

Class 44 – AV Puppy Stakes (11, 3)

1st – 48 –Hutchings’ Teckeltowns Kelby Springs into Collidach, Beautiful, mini smooth-haired bitch with lovely balance throughout and clean profile outline. Excellent front assembly with deep capacious chest and keel extending well back, giving good top and underlines, and strong ribbing, short loin. Pleasing head with good ears and proportions, well-boned with knuckled feet. Plump, well-angulated rear with good width and strength. Moved freely with reach and drive.

2nd – 56 – Jones’ Something Audacious among Clanwillow, wire-haired bitch. Loved her profile outline. Well balanced and well-proportioned throughout, but still raw with plenty of maturing still to do. Good head proportions, nicely set ears, good beard and furnishings. Clean, elegant neck into well-placed shoulders, equal return of upper arm and good bone. Good depth and length of body, well-ribbed back with plump quarters and well-let-down hocks. Moved true, just not quite as fluently as the winner.

3rd – 52 – Jennings’ Melriding True Colours at Jenivon

Res – 49 – Jenning’s Jenivon’s Spicebomb

VHC – 118 – Webster’s Indiko Eternal Flame

Class 45 – AV Junior Stakes (2,2)

Class 46 – AV Open Stakes (7,3) - a lovely class with close decisions

1st – 82 - Paskins’ Kindeace Hit The Road Jack JW, handsome well balanced red, Long-Haired male, 2yrs. Love his head, dark eye, shown in lovely coat with appropriate feathering. Excellent proportions and substance with good angulation throughout. Well placed elbows with deep forechest and low hocks, he moved freely.

2nd – 83 –Paskins’ Kindeace You Wear It Well, litter sister to 1 I see and sharing many of the same attributes. Well balanced red with pretty head and good angles fore and aft. Well ribbed with good top and under lines. Low, strong hock – she moved well.

3rd – 7 – Brierley’s Bramalodge Bonfire Heart at Tatze Class – a shapely wire female completing a nice trio in this class.

47 – AV Brace Stakes (5,2)

1st – 107 – Starkey - Black and tan smooth pair at opposite ends of the age spectrum being five months and fourteen years respectively. Both with excellent breed type, good heads and won this class on their movement. Well-shaped construction with good angulation throughout. Shown in excellent coat and condition with excellent temperaments. Well handled.

2nd – 91 – Pretty - Lovely pair of black and cream, miniature long haired. Good breed type with lovely heads, dark eyes and good coat and condition. Nicely proportioned with good angles front and back. Smooth movers. Well done.

3rd – 125 – Yates – another nice pair of mini LH, shown well.

Class 48 – AV Bred By Exhibitor (Miniature) (7,4)

1st – 50 – Jennings’ Jenivon’s Miss Marple - Red, mini-smooth female who has excellent balance and angles throughout. Won this class on her movement, which is free and accurate. Conical shaped head with strong jaws and correct ears. Strong neck into well-laid shoulders with deep thorax, well-placed elbows, excellent bone and feet. Long keel, firm topline, well-ribbed back, short loin, plump, well-muscled rear with good width of thigh. Shown in good condition.

2nd – 36 – Herald’ Winterfield Lady In Red JW - Another red, mini smooth-haired female, close up to one. She is well balanced, with a pretty head, strong neck and well-placed shoulders. Good bone, well-arched toes on compact feet, well-shaped ribcage, good angulation behind. Just preferred the movement on one today.

3rd – 64 – Lee-A-Ping’s Tony Chocolonely

Class 49 – AV Bred By Exhibitor (Standard) (2) – tough decision between these two lovely specimens.

1st – 80 – Paskins’ Kindeace London’s Calling - long-haired male who has lovely balance and proportions throughout. Excellent front assembly with good lay of shoulder, equal return of upper arm, well-placed elbows, giving ample forechest and a deep keel. Excellent bone and feet. Good length of body. Plump rear with good turn of stifle and low, strong hock. Tidy mover.

2nd – 46 –Hutchings’ Collidach Raynee Day JW – Close up to 1, a shapely wire-haired, shaded red female with a pretty head, strong jaw, well-placed ears, good beard, strong neck into excellent front assembly, with an ample thorax, excellent bone and feet. Good top and underline. Good width to second thigh and strong hocks. Free mover.

Class 50 – AV Not Bred By Exhibitor (Miniature) (4,1)

1st – 93 – Price’s Collidach Thomas Tank JW - Handsome mini wire haired male who won this class on his overall balance. Good head with well-set ears and strong jaws, good beard. Lovely arched neck inserted smoothly into a well-angled front. Plenty of forechest, well-placed elbows close to body and underneath his frame, good bone and arched toes on his compact feet. Well-shaped ribcage with strong topline, gradual underline, well-angled rear of good width and strength with low hock. Best mover in the class.

2nd – 127 – Yates’ Hilmar Winston’s Winscar - Handsome mini long-haired cream male, with good balance and proportions. Good head with strong jaws and well set ears. Shown in good coat with appropriate feathering. Nicely angled front and rear with good length of body. Good bone and feet. He moved freely.

3rd – 63 – Lee-A-Ping’s Chocco Princess

Class 51 – AV Not Bred By Exhibitor (Standard) (3,1) – two lovely specimens.

1st – 57 – Kerry’s Hampdach Belle Returns to Kireton - Smooth-haired black and tan female who is elegant and well balanced throughout. Loved her profile outline. Classic head of good type. Long crested neck set into well-laid-back shoulders with equal return of upper arm and deep forechest. Forelegs placed well underneath her with elbows close to body. Excellent ribbing extending well back, giving good top and gradual underlines. Plump rear with well-turned stifle and strong hocks. Moved well with a free stride.

2nd – 100 – Russell’s Collidach Russell Leeves - Wire-haired male, shaded red. More moderate than 1 in angulation, he has a tendency to stand underneath himself in the rear. He has a good head, shown in harsh coat with good beard, strong neck, well-laid shoulder, good bone, dep ribcage with strong top line, well-ribbed back, accurate mover.

Class 52 – AV Veteran (9,4) – what a super class!

1st – 79 – Paskins’ Cedavoch It’s Taboo at Kindeace - I love the make and shape of this 8 year old long-haired red male. He has excellent balance and proportions, winning this lovely class on his movement today. Classic head with the right amount of strength, well-set ears, shown in beautiful coat and condition. Strong arched neck into the best of fronts with ample thorax. Deep keel extending well back, giving excellent top and underlines. His shoulders are well-angled with excellent bone and feet, well-angled rear to match with strong hocks and good tailset. Free and accurate mover.

2nd – 53 – Jennings’ Duddondaxs Judge Jude for Jenivon - Close up to 1, this beautifully shaped mini smooth-haired red male, belies his 8 ears looking like a youngster. Excellent head, powerful jaws, well-shaped and set ears, strong crested neck inserted smoothly into well-laid shoulders, with oval thorax, good return of upper arm, excellent bone, and arched feet. Long keel with excellent top and underlines. Good tail set, plump rear, with plenty of thigh width and strong hocks.

3rd – 71 – Mason’s CH Tolberg Beez Kneez at Teckeltown

Res – 90 – Pretty’s Jaxrubydax Creamy Dream

VHC – 125 – Yates’ Lyndarlea Just Brian of Irisdax

Class 53 – AV Vintage (2) – both super exhibits!

1st – 112 – Taylor’s Debbiejay Magical Flo - At 11 years, this mini smooth-haired, red female would easily pass for half her age. Won this class on her movement today. She has lovely balance and body proportions, shown in excellent coat and condition, pretty head, beautiful neck into lovely front assembly with good bone and feet, strong top line, deep ribcage, which extends well back, well-angled rear with good turn of stifle and excellent width of thigh, strong hocks, free and accurate mover. Well done.

2nd – 107 – Starkey’s CH Carpaccio Jasper for Hamoura ShCM VW - Smooth-haired, black and tan male of 14 years, who is an absolute credit to his owner. Still very much the showman, holding a lovely profile outline, and moving out like a youngster. He has a handsome head, powerful jaws, dark eye, well-set ears, crested neck of good length, beautifully constructed forehand, with well-placed elbows and good bone, well-ribbed back, plump, well-angled rear and strong hocks. You can tell he still loves to be shown, as he moved freely around the ring.

Class 54 – AV Special Beginners (Standard) (1)

1st – 104 – Sirrell’s Hopewood Dream Come True - Wire-haired female of 14 months who has lovely balance. She has an excellent head of good proportions with good beard and furnishings, well-set and shaped ears, strong reach of neck into a well-laid shoulder with good return of upper arm, excellent bone and compact feet. Well-ribbed back with good top and underlines, standing a little higher in the rear at the moment which should hopefully even out as she matures but with low strong hocks. Shown in good harsh coat, she moved freely and was well-handled, the bond she shares with her handler was lovely to observe.

Class 55 – AV Special Beginners (Miniature) (9,3) – a lovely class with close decisions.

1st – 3 – Bosworth’s Bronia Solange at Louromi - 1 year old red, smooth-haired female who has elegance and substance in equal measure with good proportions throughout. Pretty head of good proportions with strong underjaw and good ears. Strong crested neck into excellent front assembly with deep chest, well-placed elbows, good bone and feet. Excellent ribbing extending well back into strong short loin. She has a beautifully balanced rear with well-turned stifle, strong low hocks and good width of thigh. Accurate free mover.

2nd – 14 –Cato’s Jenivon’s Alexandra of Loumicquest - Close up to 1, 19 month old black and tan, smooth-haired male. He is shapely and well balanced, with good proportions and angulations throughout. Good conical shaped head, with strength. Dark eye, strong neck into well-placed shoulders, with deep forechest, a well-shaped ribcage extending well back, giving good top and underlines. Excellent bone and compact feet, with arched toes. Short, strong loin, plump rear with well-turned stifle, and short, strong hocks. He moved well.

3rd – 118 –Webster’s Indiko Eternal Flame

Res – 128 – Yates’ Irisdax Star Alistair Robin

VHC – 64 – Lee-A-Ping’s Tony Chocolonely
