Thank you to my ring stewards today.

Bracco Italiano

Class 1 Puppy (1)

1st Mrs E Godbold, Piccorino Protagonist at Washwires, orange/white male, almost 8 months and really enjoying himself, full of mischief for his handler. He has a good head, with nice planes and correct divergence, oval eyes of good colour, ears are set level to the corner of his eye. He has a correct length of neck and sufficient dewlap, nice lay of shoulder, feet could be tighter, this will hopefully come with maturity. His coat is a nice deep orange and white which makes him look very striking. On the move he was a handful for his handler, that said when he did stride out, he showed a very nice outline. I’m sure he will do well in the future, pleased to award him BPIB.

Class 2 Junior (1)

1st Miss K Holdstock, Miss G C Markin, Mr J Fretwell & Mr D Bramley, Callaiscroft Esprit De Vie for Amicofedele JW, orange roan16 month male, caught my eye immediately on entering the ring, this young man strode in with a look at me attitude. He had the best head of the day, with detail, and a soft expression. His eyes are oval close-fitting, and matching shade to his coat, ears are set level with the corner of the eye, length reaching to the end of his muzzle to a large spongy nose, from the side this dog has a typical Bracco masculine head, nothing is overdone. Strong neck with sufficient dewlap, well laid-back shoulders of good width, straight front with oval bone, slightly sloping pasterns to good feet. Super fill of chest on this young dog, well laid-back ribs to a strong wide loin, superb rear which powered him round the ring with ease. Pleased to award him RBOB.

Class 3 Post Graduate (2,1a)

1st Miss D R Blomfield Kentwone Maine Among Woodlandblue, chestnut roan bitch almost 4 yrs, full of breed type and quality. She has a feminine head with a soft expression, good eye shape and colour, her ears were soft and supple and reached to the end of her nose, she has a good depth to her muzzle, and sufficient dewlap. Her front assembly is correct, nice depth of chest, to a strong loin, correct tail set, well-muscled quarters. On the stand she really filled my eye, she is almost square and has a typical Bracco profile. On the move she really didn’t like the ring, her young handler was very sympathetic and moved her as best she could, being nervous really affected her movement, which is such a shame as she is a quality bitch.

Class 4 Open (6,3a)

1st Mr A & Miss S Pipes & Groves, Bushwacker Don Juan JW, orange roan male, 2yrs 5 months, I have judged before, and he is improving all the time. He is balanced from all angles, with nothing overdone. Correct head planes and divergence, viewed from the side the lips fall away softly, presenting that typical aristocratic look the breed is known for, eyes are of a good shape, close fitting and match the colour of the coat, Good ears set on a level with his eye, and reaching to a large spongy nose. Strong neck, good lay of shoulder, width at withers into a straight front, with oval bone, slightly sloping pasterns down to tight feet. Very smart in outline, deep in chest, short in loin. Excellent topline sloping from the withers, and rising to the loin, good underline and tail carriage. On the move he displayed a good length of stride, and overreach, powering round the ring with ease. Delighted to award him Best of Breed, I hear he went on to win the Gundog Group, well done. 2nd Mr I Sladden & Mrs L Forbes, Canemamans Primo Al Fine JW, orange roan male 4yrs, excellent head of correct width with a soft noble expression, super head planes and divergence, oval close-fitting eye of good colour, ears set level with corner of eye. Strong neck with sufficient dewlap, well laid-back shoulders of good width, oval bone, slightly sloping pasterns to good feet. Almost square, with a deep chest and clean topline to a strong wide loin, and good tail carriage. Excellent rear, well-muscled which he used to his to his advantage in the ring, unlucky to come up against the younger dog in the class today. Pleased to award him RBOB.
