Hound breeds

Basenji Yearling (1,0)

1. Knights & Stokes’ Lelaps River Song. 21 month old red and white bitch. Judged her as a very young puppy and she has refined down somewhat and appearing lighter in build now, though I would still like a touch more length of leg for ideal proportions. Really lovely head, eye and expression. Scores in front construction and has a balanced rear. Moved well.

Basenji Limit (1,0)

1. Knights & Stokes’ Lelaps Time Lord. Impressed for overall balance and proportions. Masculine yet still appearing light in build. Presents a clean outline with a firm short back and correct tuck up. Touch long in muzzle but liked his eyes, wrinkle and hooded ears. Well constructed and in good body. A controlled mover yet displays a typical swinging stride. A comfortable BOB here.

Basenji Open (1,0)

1. Richardson & Wood’s Woodella Purple Haze over Cooperland ShCM VW. 10 year old tricolour bitch carrying her years so well. Good overall proportions. Very typical head and expression, admired her short muzzle. Excellent depth and spring of rib. Would prefer a higher tail set. Moves so typically in all directions with a long stride in profile, just out-moving the Yearling winner for RBOB.

Borzoi Yearling (1,0)

1. Kuech’s Go Go Bolshoi Majestic Marigold for Boese. 16 month old bitch. Elegant and feminine bitch. Fairly pleasing in outline but still some developing to do in topline. Very balanced in angulation and this showed on the move where her overall action was very light. Pleasing head and strength of underjaw. Great strength to her rear. BOB.

Irish Wolfhound Puppy (2,0)

1. Crosse’s Cairnstorm Lullaby. 10 months old. Thought she had lovely proportions and balance. Attractive and feminine head and expression, held on a long neck. Good front angulation and fill/depth of chest, but elbows could be closer to chest. Pleasing to go over with a firm topline and moderate rear. Excellent body and condition. Moved fairly well but can strengthen in the rear. BP & RBOB.

2. Bell-Ashe’s Haziannes Knights Crusader. Masculine dog with enough size and substance, but some way to go in terms of depth throughout. Pleasing head and expression. Unable to match the construction and soundness of 1 on the day.

Irish Wolfhound Open (1,0)

1. Webb & Sheppard’s Killoughery Mission Two for Inkleyboys JW. 3 year old. Not the tallest of males but doesn’t lack substance and is in proportion. Balanced, masculine head. Enough neck into very good front assembly, excellent bone and feet. Topline could be firmer and more shapely. Well angulated hindquarters. A sound and true mover, even if he could put a little more into his stride. BOB.

Portuguese Podengo Puppy (1,0)

1. Cross’ Kalispell’s Fonzarelli Loggeta (Imp). Red and white smooth coated dog. Scored for proportions and balance being slightly longer than tall. Pleasing head with large, well set- and shaped-ears. Super dense coat. Such a little character, still naughty on the move but saw glimpses where he really showed off and moved with an active stride. BP & BOB.

Rhodesian Ridgeback Puppy (3,0)

1. Hodge’s Colkeririn To The Nines. Super for size and femininity throughout. Excellent proportions and outline. Attractive head, feminine, of fair length, correct width of skull and lovely expression. Uses neck to advantage and has a well laid shoulder and enough upper arm. Well developed body for age. Uses every inch of herself on the move, where she has a super style and carriage. Holds a firm topline at all times. Very smart puppy. BP & RBOB.

2. Cyprien & White’s Jocerik Ellinor Angan. Another nice bitch, a little taller but has quality all the same. Perhaps not the balance of skull and muzzle as 1 but still feminine and pleasing in expression. Very well made in front and a balanced rear. Moving well but not quite able to match 1 on the day.

Rhodesian Ridgeback Yearling (3,0)

1. Catharell’s Kinabula’s Making Magick for Faahac. Quality male who scored here for his moderation, overall proportions and balance. A slow maturer with a little way to go still but has time. Lovely balance to his head with a bright expression. Well made and balanced in angulation. Tail a tad short and carried rather proudly at times. Moves with great activity, lightness, if not the stride of his competitors in the BOB challenge.

2. Collier & Cox’s Carlincox Knock Ya Socks Off. Quite a stallion of a male and impressive in many respects, but I would prefer him shorter in the body for ideal proportions. Excellent neck and front construction, exemplary upper arm. Naturally, he has a long stride with great drive but I would like a firmer topline and cleaner front action coming towards.

Rhodesian Ridgeback Open (1,0)

1. Cox & Musgrave’s Carlincox Don’t Knock It JW. Still a young bitch but she has lovely balance and very good proportions. Feminine head with lovely dark eyes. Strong neck of super length. Scores in shoulder and upper arm, but would like a little more spring of pastern. Rock solid topline standing and moving, and admired her spring and length of ribbing with a short firm loin. Opens up on the move with a long and balanced stride, but doesn’t need to go too fast as can start to lift in front a little. BOB over some quality competitors.
