Hound breeds, group and AV Stakes
Basset Griffon Vendeen (Petit) Junior (2,0)
1. Fairhurst & Mcauly’s Erylan Passiflore. Well proportioned, if a little up to size, bitch. Feminine, well proportioned head, lovely expression and correctly set ears. Fair neck and shoulder, would like some more return of upper arm, but scored generally over 2 in front construction. Very good ribbing and rear quarters. Correct coat texture. Moved well, particularly accurate on the up and down. BOB.
2. Fairhurst’s Erylan Fleur. Litter sister to 1 and many similarities. She is ultra feminine and a good size. Excellent topline and strong hocks. Not quite the ribbing or front of 1 and today she was very naughty on the move.
Basset Griffon Vendeen (Petit) Post Graduate (2,0)
1. Fairhurst & Mcauly’s Erylan Passiflore.
2. Fairhurst’s Valefell Savannah Journey. A masculine dog who is fairly well proportioned and a good size but doesn’t need to be any longer. Pleasing head proportions but would like a darker eye and better expression. Very good body, depth and ribbing. His rear is well angulated and has strength, though would like some more layback to his front for ideal balance. Good coat. Moved ok.
Basset Griffon Vendeen (Petit) Open (1,0)
1. Cross, Powney & Long’s Knotdog I Aintent Dead. Sweet and feminine bitch of a good size. In excellent body and muscular condition for her 8 years, though coat could be a lot better. Fairly well made front, would like a touch more length of leg though. Feminine head with short foreface and pleasing expression. Very lively on the move covering some ground.
Borzoi Junior (1,0)
1. Dawson’s Stubbylee At Sunrise. Lovely young bitch who coped very well in the conditions. Long and feminine head. She is very well put together with a long neck, super front and a shapely body. Still has some developing in terms of depth and width, but has time on her side and thought she scored fairly well here for the breed at this age. Does need to settle coming towards on the move but forgave this as she moved with drive and correct width in the rear and covered plenty ground in profile. BOB & HG3.
Borzoi Post Graduate (5,2)
1. Dawson’s Stubbylee At Sunrise.
2. Foster’s Viridis Shirrells. A mature bitch who is well proportioned, scoring over 3. Pleasing head and dark eye. A little overweight on the day and lacking topline. Fairly balanced in angulation, if a little too moderate. Moved well up and down but unable to match the front construction and profile movement of 1.
3. Johnson’s Viridis Pink Floyd.
Borzoi Open (3,1)
1. Foster’s Viridis Shirrells.
2. Johnson’s Viridis Pink Floyd. Masculine in head, dark eyes and small well set ears. A little short in the body for overall proportions. Would like more strength and soundness to his rear. Difficult to assess in the conditions/ring as exhibitor unable to move dog adequately.
Rhodesian Ridgeback Puppy (1,0)
1. Spratling’s Diamondridge Dragonstone. A soundly made youngster, although was not coping too well in the conditions sinking into his rear and losing his topline on the stack, his construction showed on the move where he was really positive in front and profile. Would like a little less width of skull. Excellent neck and front construction. Nice quality and lovely condition. BP.
Rhodesian Ridgeback Post Graduate (3,2)
1. Shaw’s Negasi Goldberry. A bitch I have judged her before and is developing well. Up to size for a bitch but is well proportioned. She impresses so much in neck and front construction which is so smooth and clean. A touch generous in rear angles but moves very well in all directions.
Rhodesian Ridgeback Open (3,2)
1. Shaw’s Negasi Radagast JW ShCEx OSW. Another I have judged a few times and always done well, full older brother of the winner of Post Graduate. Masculine and balanced head. Like his sister, scores in neck and front. Holds a super outline both standing and moving. Uses his rear well on the move, covers a lot of ground in profile and is accurate up and down. Not going so well in the group as I have seen him as I thought he would be up there. BOB & HG4.
AV Not Separately Classified Hound Puppy (5,1)
1. Bell’s Indiko A Touch Of Cream at Tolberg. Miniature Long-Haired Dachshund. Really fell for this little beauty. Seldom have I judged Dachshunds of this quality at general open shows. So well balanced and very good overall proportions. Well balanced head, with good strength of muzzle, dark expressive eyes. Good length of neck. Excellent front construction, and balanced rear. Scores in length and spring of rib. Tidy up and down and covers excellent ground in profile, holding a firm outline. Liked her a lot! BPAVNSC, BAVNSC, HG1 & HPG1.
2. Drady’s Indiko Fire And Ice. Miniature Long-Haired Dachshund. Litter brother of 1 and of a similar stamp and quality. He too has a lovely head with good length and dark eyes. I just preferred the slightly better layback of shoulder and length of ribbing of 1. Moved very soundly.
3. Revens & Hyde’s Wratthembray Nurse Gladys via Beabass. Basset Fauve De Bretagne.
AV Not Separately Classified Hound Junior (4,1)
1. Bell’s Indiko Cast In Cream at Tolberg. Miniature Long-Haired Dachshund. Another two litter siblings, what a lovely litter this must have been. They are all quality and not hugely dissimilar in type and overall appearance. In this class, 1 scored over 2 in front and ribbing whereas 2 scored in rear angulation and movement. Both moving very well in profile on a balanced stride, covering ground and holding their toplines.
2. Webster’s Indiko Eternal Flame. Miniature Long-Haired Dachshund.
AV Not Separately Classified Hound Post Graduate (3,0)
1. Bell’s Indiko Cast In Cream at Tolberg.
2. Freer’s Immervahr Fryony. Bloodhound. A feminine bitch with an athletic appearance. Good length to her feminine head. Balanced, if a little moderate both ends but liked her proportions and leg length. Covers the ground without being overdone. Moved well.
3. Kenmare’s Omega Huculska Dolina at Craigmills (Imp). Hamiltonstovare.
AV Not Separately Classified Hound Open (5,2)
1. Revens & Hyde’s Beabass Usha. Basset Fauve De Bretagne. Well proportioned bitch. Feminine, typy head and correct expression. Cuts up a little in ribbing. Scores in hindquarters with excellent width of thigh. Moved fairly well, but generally unsettled by the tannoy today it seemed.
2. Brearley’s Calvin’s Dream Of Eternity at Xanadax. Miniature Long-Haired Dachshund. Well proportioned and put together male. Masculine head with good strength of muzzle. Would like more neck and a better shoulder placement. Well made rear with strong hocks. Moved well.
3. Freer’s Maple Bay Northern Star. Bloodhound.
Hound Group
1. Bell’s Indiko A Touch Of Cream at Tolberg. Miniature Long-Haired Dachshund.
2. Mallison’s Edenwhip Oregano. Whippet. Up to size male but all in proportion and impresses so much for his flowing and clean-cut outline. Typical head, long neck, well made front, lovely curves to top and underline. He is only young and still eager on the move but does need to settle in front movement. Covers a lot of ground in profile holding his outline.
3. Dawson’s Stubbylee At Sunrise. Borzoi.
4. Shaw’s Negasi Radagast JW ShCEx OSW. Rhodesian Ridgeback.
Hound Puppy Group
1. Bell’s Indiko A Touch Of Cream at Tolberg. Miniature Long-Haired Dachshund.
2. Spratling’s Diamondridge Dragonstone. Rhodesian Ridgeback.
3. Roth-Brown’s Edenwhip Daydream Believer. Whippet. A typy bitch who doesn’t want to grow on any more. Pleasing head, lengthy neck into a fairly well made front. Has time to fill and drop in body. Well angulated rear. Moved freely in profile.
4. Buxton’s Mereblake Agnes. WH Dachshund.
AV Hound Puppy (8,2)
1. Webster’s Indiko Eternal Flame.
2. Price’s Kierpark Its Now Or Never among Silkdance. Certainly masculine and really well made throughout, which showed in his very sound and balanced movement. He is unfortunately too strong and big for my taste, but couldn’t deny his soundness in this class.
3. Winkley-Balmer’s Edenwhip If I Can Dream.
AV Hound Veteran (7,3)
1. Porter’s Ottaryx Quinevere. Otterhound. A balanced bitch with enough substance and bone. Pleasing head, attractive expression and well-set ears. In super body and condition. Could be more true in rear movement but otherwise, a lovely free mover. Pleased to see she went BVIS, congratulations!
2. Knowles’ Ch Tokaji Klassic Trickster at Sarawana VW. Basenji. Quality male who is well made all through and moves so well, I would just prefer an overall lighter build and less width of skull for preference.
3. Blenkarn’s Penwincoeds Own Jack Sprat.
AV Veteran (21)
1. Porter’s Ottaryx Quinevere
2. Powell & Murrell’s Sh Ch Crumpsbrook Woodrush. Large Munsterlander. Well proportioned being fairly square, super size and substance. Handsome head with correct width of skull and dark eyes. Well ribbed and holds a firm topline. Well angulated quarters, could be a touch stronger in hock. Moved soundly in all directions, pushed 1 hard.
3. Gordon’s Hawkfield Audacity JW (Imp). Pointer.
AV Puppy (35)
1. Drady’s Indiko Fire And Ice. MLH Dachshund.
2. Smith & Teasel’s Afterglow Trifle Tipsy. Toy Poodle. Thought she had a lovely head, dark eyes and well defined chin. Square proportions with short, firm back. Moved out stylishly covering good ground with super carriage.
3. Price’s Kierpark Its Now Or Never among Silkdance. Whippet.
AV Junior (29)
1. Smith & Balmer’s Howlvalley’s Tiramisu. Siberian Husky. An athletic and lightly built bitch who had super overall balance. Impressed on the move where she uses herself to advantage on a clean and balanced stride with excellent drive, holding her outline.
2. Mallison’s Edenwhip Oregano. Whippet.
3. Price’s Kierpark Its Now Or Never among Silkdance. Whippet.
