British Collie Club

Show – The British Collie Club

Date – 6 December 2025

Judge – Lynda Nicholas (Nickarlyn)

Thank you to the committee for inviting me to judge at their friendly Christmas show. My 2 stewards Shelley & Jake. Thanks to all exhibitors for allowing me the pleasure to go over your dogs. Without exhibitors there would be no shows, so please keep up the camaraderie and enjoy our hobby even though there may be ups and downs along the way. Exhibits presented in clean condition, fully appreciate the preparation work that goes into a coated breed for winter shows. Some exhibits just did not like the flooring and did not move to their best ability. Quite a variety of types present today.

Baby Puppy (rough/smooth) D/B (6,2)

Lovely way to start the day, all promising babies some with more confidence/composure than others. At this age so much change and development, ears can be difficult, growth spurts alter balance and proportions week to week and just starting to work out this showing lark.

1 Lusty – Blamorder Masterpiece

Very confident smooth blue boy who has already decided he was born to be a showman, well put together, impressive forechest for a baby. Lovely make and shape with bone and substance correct for age. Good colour/markings for a blue. The makings to be a very exciting prospect.

2 Collins – Triburle The Spellmaster

Rough - golden sable boy who handled his first outing with confidence. Loved his sweet masculine expression with correct shape/set dark eye. Used ears to advantage, just a little heavy right now. Excellent bone and substance. Abundance of correctly textured puppy coat. Another to watch as he matures on.

Veteran D/B (5,3)

1 Smith – Multi CH Brooklynson Miley Syrus BVIB

13 ½ years young sable bitch, and guess there is nothing I can add that has not already been said to extol her many virtues. Yes, she is a little older, slower with more grey hairs – but retains her quality and it shines through. I understand this was her swansong show – and thank you to the owners for giving me the opportunity to judge her.

2 Edwards – Corisian French Tease from Shulune

8 yr pretty sable bitch of different type to winner. Good head planes with correctly placed stop and kindly eye. Used ears to advantage to top-off a lovely expression. Not quite the length of back of winner but presented a pleasing picture.

Minor Puppy D (2,1)

1 Williams – Mejola Endevour BPD

Sable boy 8 mths. Lovely size and substance for age. Parallel head planes a true blunt wedge from all angles. Good under-jaw. Well placed/tipped ears. Nicely made forequarters, good ribbing and will drop in chest as he matures. Correct body proportions and strong bone. Nicely fitted jacket of correct puppy texture. Well set/carried long tail.

Puppy D (1,1)

Junior D (1,0)

1 Randall – Ladnar Call My Name JW RBD

Smart, upstanding clear silvery blue boy splashed and marbled, sporting a big white collar that enhances his arched neck adding to his impressive outline. Clean, smooth head, correctly placed slight stop, good set/size of eye and use of ears pulled it all together to give the desired expression. Excellent height to length body proportions with slight rise over loin. Just a little fond of his tail. Would benefit from a bigger ring as did not really get into his stride before turning. Groomed and presented in tip top condition and perfectly schooled.

Maiden D (1,1)

Novice D (2,1)

1 Randall – Ladnar Call Me Maybe

Litter brother to the Junior, different proportions and needing more time to mature – time will be his friend. Head is a clean streamline wedge, but not quite the endearing expression of sibling. Rather proud of his tail today and another needing a bigger ring to extend out.

Graduate D (1,0)

1 Williams – Essanjay Ring of Fire

Sable 19 months. Pleasing head of good length, rounded muzzle, enough underjaw and flat skull. correctly placed slight stop, good set/size of dark almond eye Nice spring to rib and strong loin, good bone Presented in good coat and body condition. Rather proud of tail and not entirely happy on the move.

Post Graduate D (4,2,)

1 Dodsworth – Libanel Everlasting Charm with Sommerfugl

Tri with intense black jacket, rich tan and Persil white. Ok head of good length with dark almond correctly set eye. Having a tricky time with ears today. Not the largest of lads but good height to length proportions. Tended to stand rather close in front, but OK rear drive. Topline held on move.

2 Farthing – Didek Once in a Blue Moon

Silvery blue ground colour that was well broken. OK head and enough fill of foreface, oblique set eye. Prefer a better lay of shoulder. Well off for bone. Hind feet were a little flat and not the rear drive of winner.

Limit D (2,2)

Open D (6,3)

1 Williams – Mejola Top Gun JW BD /RBOB

Upstanding sable of good size and substance – masculinity with poise and elegant profile. Head sporting parallel planes, almond/oblique eyes, fill of foreface and decent underjaw. Used ears well, to complete the expression. Well balanced and proportioned from all angles. Lovely reach of neck carried head proudly. Spot-on for body length:height ratio. Well ribbed with a strong wide loin. Good bend of stifle and short below the hock ensured he moved with drive. Well set long tail carried correctly

2 May – Camanna Careerchangeing for Maqueeba

Sable of different type to winner. Pleasing head properties, though would prefer slightly less depth/width to backskull. When he used his ears gave a sweet expression. Well off for bone and good feet. Nicely sprung ribs reaching well back. Prefer slightly more length to neck, body and tail to give the desired silhouette, tended to stand under himself.

3 Phillips – Essanjay Against All Odds

Minor Puppy B (5, 1W/D, 2)

Both 8 months, at different stages of development showing lots of promise.

1 Shipp – Tremaro Fantasy BPB / BPIB / BPIS

Really fell for this little lady - lovely make and shape with melting expression. Lovely dark almond oblique eye, correctly placed stop, good underjaw and used her neatly tipped ears to advantage. Showing a balanced silhouette, hopefully she will grow on retaining her proportions. Needs to settle into her stride and tighten up all over as she matures. Presented to perfection in puppy coat.

2 Williams – Mejola Some Girls Do

Different type to winner with lots to admire. Richly toned sable with a big white shawl that enhances her elegant look. Excellent proportions and body shape and moved well, with accurate footfall. Just preferred the eye and expression of winner. Beautifully schooled and presented as were all exhibits from this kennel.

The withdrawn puppy decided to take a dislike to the matting. By the end of the day, with patience and tasty treats more than happy to trot confidently around the ring, I applaud her owner for giving her the best first-time experience.

Puppy B (3,1)

1 Shipp – Tremaro Fantasy

2 Ransome – Serenlas Dream Maker

Correct substance and bone for age. Clean wedge head, slight stop expression could be enhanced by a tighter ear set. Matching angulations front and back - everything fitting together nicely and moved as angulations suggested. On the stack would occasionally sit back into her withers that effects overall silhouette. Presented in good coat and condition

Junior B (5,2)

1 Hawkins & Foy - Beldones Rich Velvet

Sable who needs to be handled to be fully appreciated. Took this class on expression, has the most feminine of heads, dark oblique eye and just needs to use her ears a little more to top-off a lovely headpiece. Good underjaw. Correct height to length ratio, well sprung ribs, slight rise over loin with well bent stifle, Enough bone for size and good feet. Coming back into coat.

2 Beardsworth - Wicani Dulcibella gyda Maysinder

Blue of excellent silver ground colour - splashed and marbled, nicely presented in good body condition with moderate bone. Solid and confident on the move. Good length to foreface, ears were correctly tipped but a little wide. Preferred the head and eye properties of winner.

3 Gatt - Wicani Belladonna for Bearven

Maiden B (4,1)

1 Hawkins & Foy – Beldones Fantasy

Sable of good make and shape throughout. Feminine expression that could be further enhanced by tighter ear set. Dark almond shaped oblique eye, dark pigment, balanced head proportions with correct stop. Spring of rib, strong loin with slight rise and nicely rounded croup. Not entirely happy on the floor but showed me enough, she has well balanced correct angulation front/rear. Great presentation – as all from this kennel

2 Shipp – Tremaro Fantasy

3 Gatt - Wicani Belladonna for Bearven

Novice B (2,1)

1 Beardsworth - Wicani Dulcibella gyda Maysinder

Graduate B (3,2)

1 Hawkins & Foy - Beldones Smart Touch

Sable. Wedge shaped head with good stop, good length and fill of foreface with enough underjaw/tight lip line. Dark obliquely set almond eye and nicely tipped ears. Length to neck and correct height/length ratio. Correct bone for size with correct pasterns and feet. Matched front and rear angulations.

Post Graduate B (2,0)

1 Shipp – Tremaro Million Dollar Baby

Sable of good make and shape. Blunt wedge head from all angles, parallel planes, correctly placed stop and lovely dark, almond obliquely set eye ears used to advantage though could be a little lighter tipped. Nicely arched neck. Correct body proportions, spring to rib and strong loin. Would benefit from a faster gaiting speed to settle into a more rhythmic trot, as did not move as well as her static construction suggests.

2 Dodsworth & Carr – Libanel Everlasting Dezire

Lovely silvery blue correctly splashed and marbled. Wedge shaped head, good eye and stop giving a feminine expression could be further enhanced by a lighter/ tighter ear. Good length to back and strong loin. Medium bone would benefit from slightly tighter rear feet. Matched front/rear angulations and decent ribbing. Just preferred the balance and proportions of winner as looking just a touch “matronly”.

Limit B (3,2)

1 Farthing – Aldreen Illusion in Blue for Didek

Blue, quite heavily marked however ground colour was silvery blue. Clean head properties, parallel planes, correct stop and fill to foreface. When she used her ears – feminine expression. Good body proportions and balance, topline and croup. Nice bone, front pasterns could be a touch stronger and sometimes careless with foot positioning. Not totally happy with floor surface, tail could benefit from more length and lower carriage.

Open B (5,0)

Class of the day, full of quality and splitting hairs over the placings. I hate the trite statement “wish I had more than 1 red card” – but for this class, I really did.

1 Newman - Ingledene Crystal Vision of Phreelancer BB/BOB/BIS

Elegant blue lady that takes your breath away. Clean in head, parallel planes, skull flat, nicely moulded foreface and eyes that draw you in –giving an exquisite expression. Balanced throughout with a super length of back. Smooth, fluid effortless gait covering the ground and just floated around the ring. Nicely fitted jacket and elegant furnishings of the perfect blue colour called for in the standard. Stunning presentation to finish the picture of a beautiful bitch that was my blueprint of “impassive dignity”. I absolutely loved her.

2 Walder - Roughrigg Red Lagertha JW RBB

Sable. Balanced feminine head with a lovely expression. Not quite the reach/arch of neck of winner. Legs well under her body and lovely topline both stacked and on the move. Scored highly for depth of brisket, good ribs, beautifully balanced angles. Decent bone, short below the hock and correct feet. No exaggerations - coming back off a litter and not the polished finish of winner. Presentation, handling and showmanship to be envied.

3 Williams - CH Mejola Main Event JW

Fabulous bitch and so worthy of her title – another coming off the back of a litter.
