Breed Open Show
Sunday 8th June 2025
I would like to thank the officers and committee for inviting me to judge at their Breed Open Show, I felt very privileged to be offered the appointment and appreciate the support they have given me to gain further experience in this beautiful breed.
Thank you to my stewards and also the lovely team who gave me a lovely healthy lunch.
This opportunity has deepened my respect and affection for the Glen of Imaal, and further reinforced my commitment to ongoing mentoring, learning, and growth within the breed. Thank you to all the exhibitors who entered.
All dogs were presented in excellent condition and temperaments were a credit to your breeding.

Class 2 Puppy Dog (2 entries, 0 absent)
1st Mrs A Hardy’s Jojase Brogan Midnight Blue with Amhard. Super 11 month old male who is developing nicely. I note after that they are both litter brothers. Correct well boned front with correct shoulder placement and no exaggeration. Correct shaped head, with super ear carriage and correct set eyes giving an overall pleasing presentation. Correct dentition. Super condition with excellent coat texture. He was correct in profile with strong chest and correct rise to the loin, which did give him the edge over his brother today. Moved well, although a little close at the rear at times but this did not affect my overall opinion of him. He did push hard for the reserve best dog. Awarded him Best Puppy in Show.
2nd Miss S Saletti’s Jojase Blarney Magic Blue. 11 month male, also developing well. Pleasing front and head, ears carried a little lower than 1st but still correct. Correct dentition and pleasing round and correctly set eye. Super Coat. Moved with ease around the ring but did crab a little which gave the 1st the overall edge.
Class 3 Junior Dog (4 entries, 1 absent)
1st Mrs LM Price’s Cenaubach I Do. Handsome male just over 12 months old. Well boned throughout giving an appearance of masculinity and strength. He had a broad skull of correct size and shape which complemented his overall profile. I liked his ear carriage and set. When standing he did appear straighter in stifle but he corrected this when settled. Lovely correct front. Correct dentition and pleasing coat texture. Reserve Best Dog.
2nd Miss A Hannington’s Boudivella Love Story. 14 months old male, a different style to the 1st but just as pleasing. Lovely head with a good round dark eye, slightly narrower skull than 1st, also slightly lighter in bone but remains balanced and in proportion. Lots of promise as he matures.
3rd Miss J Simpson’s Romainville Maxim
Class 4 Post Graduate Dog (3 entries, 0 absent)
1st Mrs C Kirkwood’s Cazcade Cant Catch Me. Smart 19 month old male. This boy is all in proportion and very sound. Ears held in repose. He has the correct front to the breed standard, with enough bone to give him a pleasing overall appearance. Has enough turn of stifle but this did appear straighter at times when he was a little unsettled. Moved freely.
2nd Mrs E Lark-Jones’s Boudivella Arlo. Overall a lovely dog in profile and on the move, classic head, ears in repose and a nice round eye set correctly. Very pleasing to watch with fore and rear quarters all in proportion.
3rd Mrs & Mr Fraser’s Amhard Runrig
Class 5 limit Dog (No Entries)
Class 6 Open Dog (4 entries, 2 absent)
1st Mrs A Hardy’s Amhard Tornado. 19 month old male, both these boys are similar in appearance. Presented in excellent coat condition, well groomed and handled to advantage. Exhibits many admirable qualities that are true to breed type. Correct front and rear with plenty of muscle just where it is needed, correct depth of chest. Lovely head with correct ear carriage and set. Good tail set and carried correctly. Moved well. If I had one recommendation it would be to take off a little bit of the length from his nails. I could not fault his in any other way. Best Dog and Reserve Best In Show
2nd Mrs A Hardy’s Amhard Quick Fire. 6 year old male. My notes say that these 2 boys were very similar in type. Less coat on him than the 1st. he has a classic head with correct ears and a darker eye. He is well muscled throughout and very balanced. Front was correct and pleasing.
Class 7 Veteran Bitch (1 entry, 0 absent)
1st Mrs J Saletti’s Bendikes Fidelma. 10 year old female, in beautiful condition with good muscle and was a pleasure to go over. Correct shape head, correct ear set and carriage. Eyes of correct round shape and dark, correctly set giving a lovely feminine expression. She has the correct GOI front with muscle where needed presenting balance in front and rear quarters. A credit to her owner. Best Veteran in Show.
Class 8 Puppy Bitch (1 entry, 0 absent)
1st Miss S Saletti’s Jojase Bridie True Blue. Lovley 11 month old female who has lots of promise, correct ear carriage, correct round eye with good head that is all in proportion in relation to width and length. Correct front and rear angulations reflecting sound movement. Still some maturing of course but will be keen to see how she goes over time.
Class 9 Junior Bitch (1 entry, 1 absent)
Class 10 Post Graduate Bitch (5 entries, 3 absent)
2 very lovely girls, with great movement making this decision one of the hardest of the day.
1st Mrs C Kirkwood’s Cazcade Coming Around Again. 19 month old female, correct size head with correct width and length to her head. Still maturing, there was enough rise to her strong loin. Good dentition and handled to perfection giving her movement the edge over the 2nd. Reserve Best Bitch.
2nd Miss A Hannington’s Boudivella Fire Cracker JW. 19 month female, lovely feminine head in correct proportions. Liked her topline and rise to her loin. Pleasing front with correct bone and shoulder placement. She has good movement. Good coat and presented well.
Class 11 Limit Bitch (2 entries, 1 absent)
1st Mrs C Kirkwood Cazcade Betty Boop. 3 year old female, a beautiful girl presented in excellent condition and groomed to perfection. Correct ear carriage and correct brown eye giving an overall head picture of balance and strength. Correct angulation to front and rear which rewarded excellent movement. Handled well to get the most out of her. Aware now that I have judged here before and she did not disappoint.
Class 12 Open Bitch (4 entries, 1 absent)
1st Mr D & Mrs J Howarth’s Ch Amhard Sugar Plum. As soon as I saw this girl I thought wow, such ring presence and a profile that screams quality. She is a lovely size, balanced and all in proportion. Excellent texture to coat. Head balanced and in proportion, framed by correctly set ears. Correct front, just the right amount of bone and with correct slight bow noted. Feminine throughout. Moved and handled well. Best Bitch and Best in Show.
2nd Mrs A Hardy’s Amhard Rapid Beat. Another girl in excellent condition, handled well. She is balanced and in proportion. She wasn’t fully happy today. I preferred the head of 1st.
3rd Mrs LM Pryce’s Cazcade And So It Begins
