Ladies Kennel Association Of Scotland

Breed: Rhodesian Ridgeback

I would like to thank the Committee of LKA for inviting me to judge Rhodesian Ridgebacks at their recent Open Show at the Scottish National Equestrian Centre.  What a joy it was to judge dogs at this venue where I often participate myself.  It was fantastic to see the dogs move freely around the large spacious ring where they could be shown to their full advantage.  A big thank you to my lovely stewards for all their assistance and an even bigger thank you to everyone who entered on the day and trusted me to go over their lovely dogs.  All ridges, crowns and bites were correct and every dog had fantastic movement.  I was splitting hairs over a few placings and these could easily change on another day.

RHODESIAN RIDGEBACK GRADUATE

1st Scanlon, Miss Isabella - Kinabula's Beat of my Heart

This 1 year old light wheaten girl was a joy to watch running round the ring.  My goodness she just loves life.  Lovely feminine head, large dark eyes with correct ear set.  Good neck and good lay of shoulder.  She has an excellent topline which she held well on the move  Good croup.  She has very good front and rear angles. She is still a young baby and I am looking forward to seeing her mature.

RHODESIAN RIDGEBACK LIMIT

1st Mulholland Mr Paul & Mr G A & Mrs J Cunningham - Walamadengie Heart Throb

This boys kennel name suits him perfectly.  Just looking at those beautiful dark eyes and gorgeous head he is indeed a heartthrob.  At 2 years of age this red wheaten boy was shown in good hard condition.  He has a gorgeous masculine head without being too course, correct ear placement and clean lips.  Powerful strong shoulders, clean neck leading on to a lovely flat topline.  Strong powerful thigh muscles, good hocks and feet.  He pushed hard for BOB.

2nd Black Mrs Gillian & Mr L G Black & Mrs J McKinlay - Asharra Dark Side of the Moon at Gileeja

Another lovely example of the breed, this 3 and a half year old was a joy to watch running round the ring.  A quality red wheaten boy shown in fantastic fit hard condition.  Masculine head, lovely dark eyes, good neck, good lay of shoulders, excellent topline which he held well on the move.  Nice croup, excellent strong first and second thigh which he used well.  Another boy with good hocks and nice tight feet.
