Setter & Pointer Club

Breed: Pointer

The Setter and Pointer Club Open Show- Pointers.

Firstly, thank you to the committee for inviting me to judge at their open show! I thoroughly enjoyed my morning judging. Thank you to all the exhibitors for entering, whether you made it over from the championship show or not. Also a big thank you to my stewards who kept the ring moving.

Veteran (5,1)

Hard to think that any of these dogs are in veteran, a true testament to their owners!

1st Raigmore Worth The Wait, 7 year old Orange and White Bitch. And she was worth the wait! Melting expression, slight look of ‘who do you think you are’. Long neck into well laid shoulders. Plenty of body, short coupled and lovely short bee-sting tailed. On the move she held her topline and showed the ‘younguns’ how to move in the challenge. BVIB and RBVIS!

2nd SHCH Kanix Peri Peri with Glenfinnan, 7 year old Orange and White Dog. Having watched this dog before, I know he moves, our ring today was just too small to get into his stride. Beautiful head with soulful eyes. Slightly shorter in neck than winner but still plenty. Good shoulder and bone.

3rd Fydal Caprio at Salmonmist JW ShCEx VW

4th Bradgate Until Dusk

Puppy (12,5)

1st Fleurfield Henrietta Hayes at Ellapoint, 10 month old Black and White Bitch. I judged this puppy a few weeks ago and gave her the class then. Today she knew she needed to pull something big out of her pocket to stand out. She is so sound on the move, she’s graceful. Super pretty head. Curvy body. Will continue to watch her progress with interest. BP and RBPIS

2nd Chesterhope Agent Orange, 7 month old Orange and White Dog. At his first show. He sparkled as soon as he entered the ring. Just gave out on maturity to the class winner. Nice head with a kind expression. Curvey but nothing overdone about him. Plenty of bone. Lovely short tail.

3rd Heartbury Endless Love with Roydack

4th Daledancer Frances Mullen

5th El Fydal Del Winepoint Natyave Grove (Imp CZE)

Junior (5,2)

1st Wilchrimane Cereal Killer, 13 month old Black and White Dog. Giving his handler such a hard time but she calmly got him focused back on his job! No mistaking he is a boy, strong head but not overdone, fine leather ears. Long sloping neck, good forequarters. Holds his topline on the move. I’d like a little more muscle on his back legs but he is still quite young so time is on his side.

2nd Droveborough Black Magic JW, 12 month old Black and White Bitch. She has a pleasing well developed head with a lovely expression. Long neck going into well set shoulder. Good topline. Well set tail that she moved nicely on the move. Again, I would prefer a little more muscle on her hindquarters but this will come.

3rd Raigmore Hermia of Varisbrae

Post Graduate (17,7)

1st Meadowpoint Hocus Pocus JW, 2 year old Liver and White Bitch. I judged her as a youngster and I’m so pleased with how she is maturing. Nothing overdone, pretty bitch. Long elegant neck. Short bodied. Well angulated. Nice short tail. Moved with purpose holding her topline.

2nd Wilchrimane Pistachio, 18 month old Orange and White Bitch. Super feminine bitch. Well off for muscle. Slightly longer than 1st but not overdone. Moved with elegance and a lashing tail.

3rd Alozia Zealandia for Ratchda JW

4th Wilchrimane Silent Sonnet at Daledancer

5th Keepersfield Simone

Limit (16,9)

1st Heartbury Belacqua, 5 year old Liver and White Bitch. You can see she could do a days work in the field. Feminine head, fine leathers. Well angulated fore and hind quarters. Moved with drive and elegance a Pointer should have.

2nd Carmelfair Bellissima with Glenfinnan, 6 year old Black and White Bitch. One that doesn’t do herself justice at times. She’s got a beautiful head, long neck into a good set of shoulders. Short bodied and a short bee-sting tail.

3rd Tenshilling Jimmy Mack JW

4th Droveborough’s The Gambit at Vinepoint

5th Nightgold Pipkin

Open (5,2)

1st Wilchrimane Frankly M’Dear, 3 year old Orange and White Bitch. Oh she was the one to beat and she knew it! So full of herself as soon as she came into the ring. Nothing overdone but still the elegance and curvy lines that a pointer should have. Strong but feminine, again another I could see doing a days work. BOB

2nd Fowington Lar Ti Dar at Deadaway, 6 year old Orange and White Bitch. She has been a favourite of mine for some years. Feminine head, curves throughout. The ring today was too small for her to get into her full stride and against the younger bitch she didn’t have the same ‘look at me’ in the class, however when called back into the challenge she gained that spark to be awarded RBOB.

3rd Codnorhawk Dinky Stta at Bradgate
