Chepstow & District Canine Society

Breed: Pastoral breeds and group, Greenland dogs and AV Utility and group.

My thanks go to the committee for the invitation to judge at this well run show. The atmosphere was amazing and with the show spread over two days, the rings were big and plenty of space for everyone. Thank you to my stewards throughout the day and to the exhibitors for entering and allowing me to go over their quality dogs.

Australian Cattle Dog

Open (2,1a)

1st Bailey’s Ch Bryndingo Bendigeidfran VW. 9 year male showing a very balanced compact shape. I like his strong skull, nice dark eye of correct shape. Good muzzle, correct dentition. Ears set well. Enough length of neck into well developed front. Good depth of chest, good for rib, nicely coupled into a muscular rear with good angulation. The coat was harsh and in good condition. Tail set well, a good mover showing drive. BOB.

1st Steer-Eldridge’s Gwalltafryn Rhodd Unigryw. 8 year old male presented in good overall condition. Nice profile, correct height to length. Has a decent skull with correct ration to muzzle and skull, correct dentition. Good stop, correct shape eye. Good breadth of skull. Ears are set well and has a lovely length of neck. Shoulders placed well, good in front, correct feet. Chest is good, lovely length of body, good topline and good loin. Rear angles are good which assisted the drive. Good in good condition showing correct textures. Tail set well. A good mover. BOB.

German Shepherd Dog

1st Hince’s Chalksville Summer Breeze Brixenburg. Coming up for 14 months old, this b is showing a lot of promise. I liked her overall shape in profile showing balance. She is maturing nicely and at the correct rate. Her skull shape is superb. Good length of muzzle, correct dentition. Good stop, eyes are dark and of correct shape. Ears are set well and very attentive expression. Good for length of neck, nicely set shoulders. Good depth of chest. Lovely rib and good length of body. Nicely coupled. Rear end has the correct angles but a little loose on the move at this time. Coat is in good condition. Would like to see her when she matures. RBOB.

2nd Morgan’s Lornstone Sijiur. A month older than 1, this male is at the gangly teenage phase which throws his profile off. He has a very masculine head with correct shape muzzle and broad skull. Lovely set ears and good strong neck. At this stage he has gone up and not yet filled out, so his profile is very leggy. So had to concede to 1 on this day. His tail is set well and coat in good condition. Just needs to mature into his frame.

1st Jones’ Suzdans Ollivanders. 7 year dog and very much up to type. Masculine all through with no exaggeration. He has a very good shape head, correct muzzle and good bite. Nice stop, correct shape eyes. Good broad skull with well placed ears used to advantage. Good length of neck which is muscled well. Well places shoulders, correct front, good feet, lovely chest and topline. Goos strong loin. Rear is muscled with correct angles. Tail set well and coat in good condition. Moved effortlessly across the ring. BOB

Old English Sheepdog

Open (2) Two very different types here.

1st Lattimer’s Aus Ch Ottaba Right on Quewe AI (IMP AUS). 4 year male and one I have done well for in the past. I like his overall appearance. He is square and well balanced. Good skull, correct bite, good for pigmentation, lovely muzzle, correct stop into a lovely broad skull. Eyes are correct shape and colour. Ears set well. Good muscled neck, correct front. Chest is deep, well for spring of rib. Good length of body, nicely coupled. Has correct rear angles, well muscled and well let down hocks. Correct feet. Tail set well and with the required feathering. Coat throughout is of good texture and well presented. On the move showing that required rolling gait with the desired drive. BOB and Group 3.

2nd Jones’ Leader Del Nobilpazzi (IMP ITA). Another one well presented, this 3 year old dog is larger in frame than 1 which is giving him the appearance of being very leggy. His head is mature with correct skull shape, lovely dentition, good stop. Good eye and lovely broad skull. Good front, lovely length of body. Tail set well, good rear angles. Correct feet. Another with coat in good order. A nice mover. RBOB

Shetland Sheepdog

Graduate (4,3a)

1st Rossiter’s Cocaro The Highlander. 16 month shaded sable dog and showing a beautiful profile. Maturing well. Masculinity with that hint of elegance. He is well balanced with correct height length ratios. I like his masculine skull. Correct bite. Lovely ratio between skull and muzzle, Good stop, ears of correct shape and colour. Ears are set well and used to enhance a very typy expression. Good neck, well placed shoulders, good front, correct feet. The depth of chest and rib set are well developed. Good strong loin, good topline which maintained on the move. Tail set well and of good length. The rear angles are correct. All throughout, the coat is well presented and in very good condition. On the move showed the correct drive with nice light movement. BOB.

1st Williams’ Gowdenin Duchess Surprise. 8 year old tri b. A lot to like but could not match the BOB here today. She had a very pretty skull, correct bite, good shoulders. Good length of body with a good loin. Rear angles are good, she was lacking the required drive on the move today. The coat was ok. I would have preferred a little more attention to tidying feet. RBOB.

Samoyed

Graduate (5,1a)

The first three I judged all as puppies several months prior and remarked that they were all showing varying signs of maturity at that stage. I am so pleased that they have all matured well. However, 1st had it on the more typical movement.

1st Bee’s Rosskaja Ginjo Pearl for Snowbiscuit. 14 month old B and just full of breed type as well as star quality. Her overall shape and size is superb and she has matured well. I like her overall profile and her typical expression. She is so well balanced. Her skull is correct, with a good muzzle correct bite and good for pigmentation. She has a correct stop with a good skull. She has correct eyes and good well set ears to complete that wedge shape spitz look. Good neck into correct front, lovely feet covered well. Good depth of chest, lovely rib set, strong loin. Well placed tail. And rear angles are good, well muscled and good hocks. Coat is presented in amazing condition showing correct textures from skin to the end. A superb mover covering the ground with ease. BOB and a very worthy group winner. So pleased she went on to win BIS day 1 and overall BIS.

2nd Gwynne’s Rosnorske Royal Azalea. 2 and 3 are 13 month old siblings with the B just that smidge tidier on the move today. Similar words apply to both, they are carbon copies of each other. Except for sex. This B is another that has matured nicely and the body has now caught up with the legs to give a pleasing profile. I like her head, correct wedge shape, with good muzzle and dentition. Lovely stop, good eyes well set. Broad enough skull, ears set well. Lovely angles fore and aft, good depth of chest. Lovely length of body, strong loin. Tail set well. Coat in good quality and presented well. A good mover, still showing a tiny bit of immaturity in the rear. This will tighten eventually.

1st Hawkins & Wintle’s Rosskaja Giorgio Armani. 2.5 year old male with a very nice profile. Showing masculinity without going over. He has a well balanced profile with a good head shape. He has the correct muzzle, good teeth, lovely stop and good dark eyes of correct shape. Broad skull with correct set ears. Good muscled neck, well placed shoulders. Lovely depth of chest with good bone, correct feet. Nicely muscled throughout, correct tail set and good rear. The coat is again correct with correct textures and well presented. Good mover striding round the ring with ease. RBOB

2nd Kosmane’s Rosnorske Royal Qui Gon at Glamyarn. 13 month dog and slightly larger framed than 1 but still showing a decent profile. showing a very good masculine outline with no exaggerations. Good head dimensions and correct dentition. well set ears of correct shape. Good length of neck. Correct rib set, good bone, correct feet, nice length to loin, tail set well. Presented well, Coat in excellent condition with a nice texture to it. Moved out with reach and drive.

1st Longhi & Francescato’s Valaller Paparazzi. 2.5 year B and just a joy to go over. Shows a very typical profile. Good head shape, nice teeth, good shape muzzle, correct stop. Eyes of correct shape and well set ears. Skull ratios are good and her neck is of correct length. Her front is well constructed, she has lovely bone and good feet. Lovely rib set and correct topline. Rear angulation is correct with her tail set well. Coat was in good condition showing correct textures. A real good mover showing really good typy stride. Placed group 4 in very good company and should feel proud to be in that line up. BOB G4.

1st Williams & James’ Ch Bwthyn Headliner JW ShCM SHcEx VW. Coming up for 11 years old. This male possesses a very good profile. A solid masculine frame with correct height to length proportions. Good skull, with excellent dentition. Lovely stop, fair breadth of skull with well placed ears. A good length of neck, well placed shoulders, correct front, nice feet. Really broad chest super topline, tail correct and carried well. Super rear angles which assisted his super movement. Coat in good condition with correct texture to it. BOB

2nd Siviter’s Faywaidd Spice ShCEx. 6 year B and daughter of 1st and a favourite of mine. Have judged her in her youth and now fully matured. I like her skull shape, correct muzzle to skull ratios. Correct front, good feet. Lovely depth of chest, correct topline. Tail set well. Coat in good condition. A good mover, just couldn’t match 1 today on the move. RBOB.

1st Webb’s Cottonfields the Bond Girl. 6 year b of nice size and shape. Balanced throughout, Well constructed, Head shape ok, ears set well, another with correct shape dark eye. Good on front, well placed shoulders, nice feet, correct topline, good chest and nice length to loin. Rear assembly was nice, good stifle and hocks good. Tail set well. Coat in good condition. Moved out with good drive. RBOB

2nd Jones’ Ermyn Storm Ahead BB1.15 month dog. Good for type in profile with an excellent shape to head. Up to size. Correct shape to head with well set ears of correct shape. Good neck, nice lay of shoulders. Good for body with nice rib set and good loin. Correct angles at the rear and moved out well. In lovely coat.

1st Webb’s Corland Nighthawk NBT. 7 year D with a very masculine profile. Good wedge shape head, alert in expression, Correct bite, Well placed ears used well. Strong neck, good laid back shoulders, Deep chest, well sprung ribs. Good strong level back, correct angles front and back, Good feet. Really pushed out on the move. Coat in good condition. BOB

1st Watkins’ Blamorder Unlucky for Some. 13 month tri B Smooth Collie. Presented in good condition and maturing nicely. With an excellent shape to skull. Good muzzle, correct bite, clean stop. Ears set well. Well developed front, good feet. Lovely lay of shoulder, good depth of chest. Lovely length of back, Nicely coupled, tail set well. Well muscled at the rear. In amazing coat of good texture. Excelled on the move showing true drive.

1st Langford’s Caprian Adrianna JW. 3.5 year old B Cardigan Corgi. Has a lovely profile showing balance. Good in skull, showing correct dimensions. Good bite, Lovely shape to eye. Good neck and well placed shoulders. She has a clean front, good depth of chest and lovely topline. Rear angles are good and tail is set well. Coat in lovely condition. When moving was very typical, showing a really good stride.

1st Smaggasgale’s Zakaytia Guardian Angel VW. 10 year old Samoyed B. I loved her shape and size in profile, show good balance. A lovely shape to head. Nice dark eyes of correct shape. Correct dentition, Correct set ears of good shape and carried well. Lovely front to her, good for bone, good feet. Well placed shoulders, correct depth to chest and well sprung ribs. Nicely coupled, Good rear angulation, really well muscled, good turn of stifle, well let down hocks. Tail set well and carried well on the move. In lovely coat which is in excellent condition. On the move she was free, effortless and really striding out. RBVIS day 1.

2nd Lyall’s Santaloly’s Sky Amidalas. (Rough Collie). Another 10 year old B in super condition. Lovely profile, presenting a love shape to her. Lovely shape head, good bite and well set ears. Good length to neck, well placed shoulders, lovely front. Nice depth of chest, nice topline and well angled rear. Tail set well. Coat in good condition and correct texture. Covering the ground well and really driving out from the rear.

Group 2 Norwegian Buhund. Lambert’s Sturtmoor’s Gon’N Dun it JW. 14 month D. Up to size and presenting a correct profile. I wouldn’t want him any bigger. Mature in skull with good dentition. Good muzzle to skull ratio, good stop, lovely dark eye of correct shape. Ears are set correctly and used to enhance the very typical expression. Good shoulders, lovely depth of chest. Nice tight feet. Solid topline, good strong loin. Tail set and carried well. Coat is in excellent condition. A really nice mover showing drive from the rear.

2nd Blaney’s ESP / IRE / INT Ch Fenrirkin Cant Be Late ShCEx (Sui-Jun CH). 4 year B of super temperament. Another with a very good profile and well balanced. Beautiful head, with excellent expression. Her muzzle is good, correct bite. Good stop and well placed ears to complete the wedge shape to the head. Her neck is of good length and well muscled. Correct shoulders. Good front, correct feet. Good chest, lovely rib, good coupling, level topline. Tail correctly set. Well angled at the rear. Another that drives well on the move. RBOB

3rd Blaney’s Nipnattens Strong Avaalaqiakulooq Fenrirkin (Imp Nor). A handsome male just coming up for a year old. Maturing well not showing any gangly teen phase of legginess. A lovely head shape, with good muzzle, good teeth. Eyes of good shape and lovely colour, Good skull shape, well placed ears. Nice shape to neck, shoulders placed well. Good front, good for depth of chest. Tidy feet, good for bone. Well developed in rib, correct length of back, topline held well and tail was set correctly. Rear angles were good. A nice pup that was well presented and coat of good texture and colour. Moved out well showing good movement and really using the back end to drive. BPIB and PG3.

1st Winter & Unwin’s Liubice Diamante at Snowtrekka AI. (Korean Jindo). 3 year B of good quality. Smart girl of excellent shape, A lovely head shape, with good muzzle, good teeth. Eyes of good shape and lovely colour, Good skull shape, well placed ears. Nice shape to neck, shoulders placed well. Good front, good for depth of chest. Tidy feet, good for bone. Well developed in rib, correct length of back, topline held well and tail was set correctly. Rear angles were good. She was well presented and coat of good texture and colour. Moved out well showing good movement and really using the back end to drive. I like her and deserved her group 3 placing in very good company. BIR G3.

1st Puleston’s Chanikos Mystical Dream for Shanuleas. (Shih Tzu). Just over 12 months, this male is showing promise. Has a lovely profile with a smidge more room to go for maturity. Very well balanced in profile. Body is nice without exaggeration and with correct proportions, lovely well shaped head, good teeth, Good shape muzzle and lovely eye shape and colour, Lovely neck into well placed shoulders, good front, nice feet. deep chest, good topline and well coupled, Good angles at the rear. Coat in excellent condition, another good mover when settled. RBAVNSC.

2nd Roper’s Kessaku Bugatti for Tokosha. (Japanese Spitz). Male just shy of 14 months. A well balanced boy showing a very good masculine outline with no exaggerations. Good head dimensions with a lovely shape to muzzle and correct dentition. Lovely shape to eye, Another with well set ears of correct shape. Nice length to neck. Correct shoulders, nice front, well developed chest, Correct rib set, nice length to loin, good topline, tail set well. Out of coat today but what was there had a nice texture to it. Moved out with reach and drive.

1st Francis, Pearce, Williams & Davies’ Longsdale’s Dance with Me Trebettyn JW. (German Spitz Mittel). Judges him as a pup and now at 2 years old is showing the maturity and promise I had hoped he would achieve. Nice in profile and well balanced clean outline. Good shape to head, nice muzzle, good teeth, lovely stop, correct eyes and ears set well finishing off a typical spitz type head. Well in front and good for bone, nice feet, well placed shoulders and good rib set, Good chest, ribs set well, nicely coupled and good for rear movement. Coat was in excellent condition showing good texture. A lovely mover show a free effortless gait. BAVNSC.

AV Utility Puppy.

1st England’s Silverspot Odessi of the Sea. (Dalmatian). 11 month black male. Loved this one. Scored well in sheer breed type. Smart as a button. Very typy in profile showing a good strong outline. Nice strong head, good muzzle, clean bite, correct eye shape, ears set well and of correct shape. Nice neck length into a nice, neat front, good solid bone, nice feet. Shoulders well placed, good deep chest, good elbows, correct topline, rear is of correct angles and muscled well. Coat presented in good condition. Moved well, absolutely effortless and striding out well.

2nd Week’s Eronel Coffee Bean (Miniature Schnauzer). 8 month black male. Showing potential but could do with a bit more training to polish the performance off. well balanced, very impressive in head plains. Good muzzle, correct bite. Well for front, good bone and nice deep chest, good spring of rib, well coupled, good rear assembly, suitably muscled, tail set well and carried correctly. Coat of correct texture and presented well. A lovely mover when settled.

1st Samons’ Sterlingway Gone Viral with Cwmhaven. (Standard Poodle) 14 month white male presented in stunning condition. Superb temperament. Of excellent type. Lovely head shape, correct eye, good length to neck. Correct front, well placed shoulders, good depth of chest, lovely correct topline. Rear angles are good, tail set well. Moved out well showing correct stride. Coat is in impeccable condition and presented well. A nice dog that should do well.

2nd England’s Silverspot Voyage of the Sea (Dalmatian) Winner of the puppy group also. This 11 month black male is just an absolute stunner like his litter mate. Maturing well. Similar notes the sibling, he has a very good profile, showing masculinity without overdoing it. Also has a clean strong skull, correct eyes. Ears set well. Lovely to go over and find he is very well muscled for and aft. Good clean topline. Tail set well. Really good mover with correct stride.

1st Keepence & Keyte’s Oldcharm Peaky Love for Alandobel JW. (Tibetan Spaniel). 3 year male and looking stunning in profile. He has a correct shape skull, lovely muzzle, correct dentition. Good stop. Eyes are of correct shape and colour. Ears are well set to perfect his typy expression. Nice clean neck into well placed shoulders. Correct depth of chest. Nice in front with correct feet. Lovely length of body, nice topline which held well on the move. Good loin, excellent rear angles, well let down hocks. Tail set well and carried correctly on the move. The coat was well presented and in good condition with correct feathering where required and with correct textures. It’s his movement that he scores very highly in. Lovely to watch and in profile is beautiful showing correct confident stride.

2nd Saunders’ Hafwenna House of Stark at Giffwinnoah. (Dalmatian). 2.5 year old male and good in profile. Good ratio for muzzle to skull, nice bite, correct eye shape, well set ears used well. Correct in front with a deep chest and good for bone. Nice topline, good rear assembly, well muscled. Tail set well and carried well on the move. Moved out well, full of drive, a good free flowing mover. Coat in good quality and condition.

A good shape to head, correct bite, good neck. Quality Front, well for bone. Good feet. Nice depth of chest, well sprung rib. Good topline, Well muscled rear, good stifle and well let down hocks. Tail set well. Moved out well showing a good drive from the rear. BV

2nd Plummer & Bingham’s Silgarhi Holy Smoke to Tetsikarma JW. (Tibetan Terrier). Another 7 year old. This female is very typy. I loved her for her well balanced profile. Good head on her, correct skull to muzzle ratio, Eyes are of correct shape and colour. Well set ears and a gorgeous expression, good structure, correct angles to front and back. Good top line, well set tail carried correctly. Well muscled in rear and moving out with purpose. Coat in good condition and of correct texture. A very eye catching lady. Was told this placing gives her the Veteran Warrant (VW) (STKCA). Congratulations.

3rd Rice’s Ch Ricox Somebody to love JW ShCM ShCEx VW OSW. (Tibetan Spaniel).

A very good group to judge.

Group 1 Thomas’ Millbelle Lewiston at Philcarthom (Dalmatian). 14 month black male. There was no way I could deny this boy any lower in the line up. My eyes just kept coming back to him. Loved his masculinity and his ring presence is good. Very typical in profile showing power and balance. Skull is good, correct muzzle to skull ratio, clean bite. Good stop. Lovely dark eyes of correct shape with good pigmentation. Ears set well and very attentive to handler. Clean well muscled neck into decent shoulders. Correct front. Really good depth of chest, correct rib set into a really strong loin. The rear is well muscled with correct angles. This assisted him well on his superb movement. Just a beautiful well bred good dog. Pleased to see that he also was RBIS day 1.

Group 2 Plummer, Plummer & Bingham’s Araki Krazie Maizie for Tetsikarma JW ShCEx OSW. (Tibetan Terrier). This 2.5 year female is a favourite of mine that I have done well for and she continues to impress and show well. I loved her shape and size in profile, showing good balance and breed type. A lovely shape to head. Nice eyes of correct shape. Correct dentition. Muzzle and skull ratio is good. Correct set ears of good shape and carried well. Lovely front to her, good for bone, good feet. Well placed shoulders, correct depth to chest and well sprung ribs. Nicely coupled, Good rear angulation, really well muscled, good turn of stifle, well let down hocks. Tail set well. The coat is in excellent condition with correct textures. On the move she was free, effortless and really striding out.

Group 3 Korean Jindo (See AV Import).

Group 4 Todd’s Todlaws Forget Me Not. (Toy Poodle) 22 month black female. Showing very well. She has a lovely profile, well balanced, has a typical expression, lovely shape to skull, good muzzle, lovely shape eyes. Ears set well and of good length. Has a nice neck length into a super lay of shoulder. Correct front, really nice free. Lovely depth of chest and good rib, into a nice loin. Good rear angulation, topline is correct and tail set well and carried correctly on the move. Coat is of good condition showing super texture and condition throughout. Moved out well showing correct movement.

Puppy Group 1 England’s Silverspot Voyage of the Sea (Dalmatian). See AV Graduate.

Puppy Group 2 Barron’s Montaralyn Against All Odds. (Std Poodle). 8 month black male. A lot to like at this stage and maturity will certainly help. In profile, really eye catching. Very well balanced. Good shape to head, lovely eyes, ears set well and of good shape. Well bodied, good front, nice rib set. Correct topline, tail set well, rear angles are good. Coat presented well and in good condition and texture. The movement was slightly erratic but when settled showed a typical gait.

Puppy Group 3 Rogers’ Shantallah Raisin Black with Cholas. (Toy Poodle). 11 month black male. Showing correct shape and type. Lovely shape head, nice clean bite, good shape to eyes, well set ears, just a lovely expression. Good condition throughout. Good to go over, well balanced, nicely constructed with good angles. Coat in good condition. On the move he wasn’t very settled and tail was down a lot which threw off the gait.
