Dorset County Canine Society – 20th July 2025

Judge: Patricia Pike

I would like to thank the committee for inviting me to judge Gordon and Irish Setters. Despite a rather damp start to the day, the skies cleared before judging commenced, setting the tone for an enjoyable and well-attended show.

Gordon Setters

Junior: No entries

Post Graduate

1st – Allen’s Chiselled In Time Yuki Storm Corner (Imp Pol):

A handsome 3-year-old male with a pleasing head, dark brown eyes, and well-set ears. He shows a long, lean neck flowing into sloping, well-laid shoulders. His deep chest and strong, well-muscled hindquarters suggest strength, though he needs to settle more on the move.

Open

1st – Allen’s Black Mystery U Got The Look for Hartenziel:

An impressive and mature 7-year-old male in superb condition and coat. Masculine in expression with dark eyes and alert demeanor. His elegant neck and excellent shoulder placement contribute to a strong topline, which he maintained well in movement. Powerfully muscled and moved with drive. Awarded BOB, and I was delighted to see him place Gundog Group 2.

Special Yearling

1st – Rogers’ Clonageera Summer Magic:

A beautiful 15½-month-old bitch with feminine refinement. Her dark almond-shaped eyes, elegant neck, and gently sloping topline create a balanced outline. She shows excellent angulation, neat feet, and confident, free-flowing movement. Maintained a strong topline and ideal tail carriage. RBOB

2nd – Harris’ Fairhaven Young Soul for Konakakela (Imp Swe) JW:

A well-grown 13½-month-old male, masculine in head and expression. Strong neck and deep chest. Unfortunately, he was overstretched and visibly affected by the wind, which disrupted his overall presentation and topline on the day.

3rd – Allum’s Zakhans Sky Dancer Del Macarica

Post Graduate (6, 1 abs)

1st – Rogers’ Clonageera Summer Magic

2nd – Bridgwater & Goddards’ Bridgella’s Jubilee Queen JW:

A beautiful 3-year-old bitch with soft expression and dark almond eyes. Her neck and shoulders are well constructed, complemented by good spring of rib and angulation. Movement was slightly less positive than the winner today.

3rd – Aldridge’s Clonageera Winner Takes All

Open Dog/Bitch (3)

1st – Bridgwater’s Bridgella’s Don’t Push It:

A stunning 6-year-old bitch who stood out from the moment she entered the ring. Her exquisite head and melting expression set her apart. She has an elegant outline with a gently sloping topline, strong rear angulation, and moved with purpose and drive, using her tail beautifully. Presented immaculately and handled with care and finesse. BOB, and I was thrilled to see her win Gundog Group 1 and RBIS.

2nd – Rorke’s Zakhans Diamond Jack JW:

A masculine 5½-year-old dog with a gentle expression, strong neck, and deep chest. He moved well, though the winner's topline had the edge.

3rd – McCabe’s Clonageera Thrift
